Yep, me too (logitech - check, Fanatec - check) am quite happy with all but a couple of things on the T500.

The clubsport pedals were pretty damn good though (ignoring the price!)

yep , clubsport pedals + t500 wheelbase .
mjammy mjammy 👍👍

Thanks @KingKlingeling this confirms my suspicions!... mind you, in the Roadster cup you were still about 4 secs faster than me...:boggled:

I agree with your analogy, and my intention is really to have more fun.
Pressume you are using the T500 also, from your profile pic?

Look at it this way: it takes about 0.1 seconds to shift using the paddles but it takes closer to 0.5 seconds to engage the clutch, move the shifter, disengage the clutch. On any given single shift that's not a big deal. But add up how many times you shift per lap and suddenly you're losing a full second or more because of the time it takes to work the clutch and shifter. It can be more fun (if/when it doesn't miss shifts) but it will always be quite a bit slower than using paddle or sequential shifters.

Yeah but you never no! And why is the shifter normally banned when PD hold a public event?

Oh, I know. :sly: Top Tip, if you don't touch the clutch you can still shift with the H pattern like normal but without the added time penalty of having to engage/disengage the clutch. Kind of like a H pattern sequential shifter. You still get the fun of shifting but don't really suffer any penalty for it. Once you touch the clutch though you have to keep using it (until you do a shift with the paddle, then the clutch is deactivated again and you can go back to your clutchless H pattern)

There used to be a way in GT5 that you could use the H pattern to shift faster than with the paddles (:odd:) but I believe they fixed that some time ago so I don't know why it would still be banned since using it is a clear detriment to fast lap times.

first times set after 25 laps at Tsukuba with the BRZ (online, clutch, h-pattern )

average: 1.07.9xx
best so far: 1.07.513

I think I'll stick with this car , although I'll stink at motegi and suzuka due the lack of straight speed :odd:

bad news btw: I probably have to drive with the th8rs in sequential mode, because my renters came upstairs and went mental about the noise when kicking the clutch like walter röhrl and shifting like having and epileptic seizure.
I didn't realize how much noise this makes , because I'm wearing headphones

Brilliant, that made me smile after a long day. 👍

Ok, if that means you can be able to knock off a second from that time with sequential shifter I really have to push it in S2K to keep up with your BRZ  So there is a chance this thing might actually work :P:tup:

Feel free to try some other car, even outside the list for Suzuka and Motegi.

To the other topic, I wish I had that kinda racing setup, I am just sitting on the sofa with my Dualshock :boggled: That seat and stand for the wheel / pedals look awesome as well.

King has a better wheel and shifter than me, but I think I have him beat in the display department. :sly:

hahaha , my wife would kill me ,if I'm asking for 2 more playstations and displays ,but I would love to upgrade .
but , I'm pretty satisfied with my setup ( fly-off hydraulic handbrake + button box + 4 different wheels )

:D your turn brandon

 As usual, @KingKlingeling has several tenths on me -- my best in the BRZ was a 1:08 flat, with an average a few tenths slower. I'll try and find those missing tenths; that way, I can at least stay in Kling's mirrors at Motegi and Suzuka. ;)

On the topic of driving setups, it is definitely worth it to get one. Our household got a nice cockpit as a sort of family xmas present last December, it's such a nice change from my old jury-rigged setup. Still need to upgrade the equipment, though -- G27's a heck of a step up from my old DFP, but it's still kinda flimsy.

@BrandonW77 still wins in the display department. Pretty sure we're going to take the plunge and upgrade to a triple monitor rig soon, though.

you
Oh wow that is really impressive. I'm jealous now
you don't have to ! doesn't make me faster at all , just the feeling is a bit different from a ds3 .
I desperatly want a triple screen setup , but , yeah , wife , bla bla , just a silly game, bla bla , you already have a real car , bla bla , why a second one in the living room :lol::lol:

looking forward to draft battle with you in motegi and suzuka
double post , sorry

I share you pain here... although I'm getting there! 2 out of 3 right now.

Out of curiosity king, do you run PC Sims as well? Or have you just been tinkering to extend the buttons out!

Nice set-up btw.

(@BrandonW77 = Punk)

Ummmm........I have a little fan next to my wheel. I use it to blow cool air on my face when things get a little hot. :P

(Does the button box/handbrake work on GT??)
I need a fan too , more fun with convertibles ,lol
yep , handbrake and button box are working with GT all diy solutions because of the lack of good sim racing products for the ps3
edit : @hobbsy , I "played" Iracing for nearly 2 years , but my heart beats for gran turismo since the first release :-)

Yeah but if a guy comes over to your house he only needs to look at your rig and then he knows this guys legit

@hobbsy

button box ,built out of an arcade fight stick .assigned as controller 1

handbrake , well, from a real car , with an hydraulic switch soldered to the t500's R3 button

I presented these projects in the DYI threads if you are interested

Good shout @KingKlingeling, The thrustmaster thread is a bit of a minefield of stuff though!

I've been working on some ideas of my own, which are very similar to what you have done. I have destroyed a F1 rim though in the process!

After about a week of getting the T500, i had stripped it down ti investigate the wiring looms!

That first turn in Suzuka Cheez...Just when I thought I have the hang of it it surprises me again...

Feel free to join

Lets put the Suzuka on the table. Drop it and more Tsukuba? Suzuka East or SS Route 5 Clubman instead?

Or just keep it? Takes some effort for the BRZ's to keep S2K behind on the long straights.

It's the last turn that I hate. I can't get through the last complex of turns at Motegi West either, I think in all of history I've gotten through there successfully once. :dunce:

I love Clubman but the BRZ seemed to have a hard time on that straight as well. Maybe not as bad as Suzuka though.

Suzuka East would work fine I think; the BRZ is really quick through the esses, gaining there close to what it loses on the straight. Suzuka full would be hard, in our quick race I was probably 1s off in race pace (2s off in absolute pace) -- it would come down to consistency and taking advantage of S2Ks and RX-8s that decided to try and kill their drivers. I'd have no issue with keeping it though; I'm in this for fun, not for winning. :-)

At Clubman, the BRZ had a hard time everywhere. I was half a second down in every sector, 1.5s overall; hard to judge what was car and what was driver, but I was losing lots of time down that straight. I'm sure I can claw back some time with more practice, but no more than half a sec or so.

Yeah, I hated Suzuka for a long time because of failing some driving tests for 100th time because missing that breaking mark... :ouch: I am still far from perfect there (like anywhere else) but I have learned to like the track.

edit: then there is the Degner Curve :nervous: I am sure I have had nightmares of that blind turn
