Haha. That's how I was describing it to my poker buddies last night. It's the same basic thing, but it's all on pavement. I loved that game, I actually have it for PS3 on some classic arcade combo disc.

Awesome stuff, I used to have that game too, which also makes me think of another game...

Just to Confirm, tonights event will be at 10PM GMT (11 PM BST)? I ask because your countdown timer appears to be wrong... either that or we all missed it!

Beautiful day at the track! :)

Server is up if someone feels like some early training. I might be afk at times.

I am one second slower than few days ago... :/

edit: lack of speed was caused by an overdue oil change :ouch: Good thing I noticed before the start of first race

In spite of the Club name next event will be bit different. It will be a challenge between two cars:

Renault Sport Clio V6 '00 VS Honda S2000 '06

Both cars are loads of fun to drive and handle well with Comfort Medium tires.

Will update First post with details soon!

Location will be Cote d'Azure!

edit: Location decided based on some testing last night.

Here are my times so far: (complete settings in the first post)

S2000 2:02.759
Clio V6: 2:02.155

The Clio is bit more challenging but also rewarding when you get it under control. Found few tenths with the Clio so the Honda should go under 2:02.5, I think.

I can't help but wonder how they drive F1 cars there when I throw my Clio around the hairpin with handbrake :D I am sure it is not the fastest way around it but so fun :mischievous:

I too took both cars on track to see which fared better!... in between watching the F1 Highlights of course ;)

First out was the Clio, looking at the stats I was thinking it may lack a little composure coupled with the tyre selection round the fast bits, even with the extra power I was expecting it to be the slower. It took about 10 laps to get a time that I felt would be hard to keep improving on so I noted it down and took it back to the pits.

Next up the S2K, a car I have grown very comfortable with over the last few months. Its always been a capable car, but I feel like I know it a lot better. Immediately I felt like I was going to be faster... the racey feel from the engine, the squat and poised feel from the suspension, the balanced turn in... Yeah, this was gonna annihilate the Clio!
First lap... "WHAT!" OK I made some mistakes, too early on the brakes, will easily find a second or two on the next couple :scared:. Lap three... Hmmm, still a second off, I know I can get this... need to focus, how did Nicco take that corner...? think man think! Lap 4, Right I need a pit stop...:grumpy: a chat with my race engineer and some fresh tyres.

I return to the F1 for some insight... Ok, race was mediocre, Lewis needs to find some new excuses before he runs out! Man up dude and as the Rock would say... "Just BRING IT!" If Ricardo gets some more speed out of the Bull, he could be chewing on Mercedes for Breakfast... well Maybe!

Ok, Monaco looks quite and calm again... Time for the Honda to show us what it can do.

Lap 1. Crap. Lap 2. Better. Lap 3. Better still, half a second to go. Lap 4 looking good, this could be the one... I have left nothing on track, it must be the one... Crossing the line and... DAMN IT! 0.1 down and the Clio is STILL ahead.
I've rung the neck on this S2K, but there must be some time out there somewhere! The worst thing is, i've yet to put down a killer lap in that Clio. I could have sworn that the Honda would be quicker :odd:

My times as they stand right now. Clio = 2:00.506 / S2K = 2:00.606... (offline btw, Not that my times ever seem to differ between on/offline!)

Ok @Cu3e, You have my attention. This does look like a good choice for a battle, and one I intend on being part of. Put my name down, I'M IN!

Not sure what my choice will be yet, I've always loved the V6 Clio. It has a sense of cheekyness about it, a bit of a rouge maybe. You would not normally expect to find a V6 in a small Hatchback, let alone Mid-ship! It has the makings to be something special... but on the flip side, it feels like it lacks that crazy, aggressive nature... Maybe its been refined and tamed a little too much? While the S2K feels raw and more like a driving machine, it appears to be losing pace to the refined, smoother engined Clio.

It will be a tough choice, but I would be happy to bring balance to the grid if we are looking for equal numbers.

Catch you soon.

Hobbsy.

A wide line, 1st gear and no power... thats my secret anyway! ;)

I snuck into @Cu3e 's lobby while he wasn't looking (might have been asleep :D ) and did a 10 lap run with each car. Best times were:

2:00.761 -- Clio
2:01.141 -- S2000

Like @hobbsy , I expected the S2000 to be quicker -- especially as my minimum corner speeds with the Honda were easily 2-3 mph quicker than the Clio. It felt faster too, but the time never came. Seems that mid-engined Renooo just puts the power down better coming off the corner. Climbs the hill better, too -- in the Honda I was consistently 3-4 tenths down in the first sector despite carrying more speed through both St. Devote and Casino.

I was also expecting the Clio to be wilder -- I haven't touched one in ages, not since GT4 come to think of it. The Clios I remember were simply full of Lift-Off Oversteer. There was practically no trace of that to be found today -- I was perfectly safe rolling it through mid-corner, and it only really got out of shape when I put in too much steering input.

It does seem to be a little wide -- I clipped the barriers several times at Portier and the exit of the Nouvelle Chicane while running my accustomed line. It also doesn't like some of the kerbs very much -- best to pretty much stay off of the apex kerb at Portier, as it can get really loose there. :scared:

Should be a good matchup.

Nice report hobbsy! 👍 :D

Yes, I notice this morning that I forgot to switch off the PS3 last night :D

2:00.761 -- Clio
2:01.141 -- S2000

I really thought my laps were pretty good but I still have to improve almost 2 seconds! I don't mind, though. Really enjoy driving there :D Hope I get some sparring from someone this week

Just had another 10 laps in the S2K... (yes I'm determined to prove its faster!)

This time I went Online, to prove to myself my times are comparable. First did a three lap stint in the Clio to set the pace... 2:00.803, not bad for three laps
Next up in the S2K, it took more laps to get the time down but, some success...
By The second split I was more than six tenths up, a couple of small mistakes left me with no further improvement, crossing the line with a happy 2:00.342... and the feeling that a sub 2 minute is a strong possibility in the Honda :D

Thanks to @Cu3e for a enjoyable battle round Monaco tonight, just thought i'd share some thoughts, findings and pics...

First to note the Clio has the edge for out right pace, its hard to keep up in the S2K even with a faster exit out the corner, and I think first gear is slightly better in the clio too. However, thankfully there are quite a number of technical corners here, and balance in the car is key to not bouncing off the armco. This is where the S2K takes back some advantage, much more balanced, better brakes and sharper turn in (i feel anyway). Having said that the Clio is not going to be an easy car to pass and keep behind. I took nearly the whole race to line a good enough pass to make sure the move was clean and would not compromise my line for the next corner... Sure enough I could have tried a old fashioned block pass, and stuff it up the inside of the hairpin (much like this weekends F1), but there is no fun in that.

Hats off to @Cu3e, you keep me on my toes and exhibited some clean defensive driving.

now to end with a few pics.

Many times i would be invited into a corner by a wide line from the Clio...

Only to be beaten to the next corner by its acceleration.

They look good in the tunel too

Not this time...

closing up the gap coming through the Swimming Pool complex, I get him lined up for the run to La Raccase

With a tight cut back going into La Racasse, it gives me the inside line for Anthony Noghes...

Starting the final lap, this was a long awaited move

I think first gear is slightly better in the clio too.

I was supposed to use first gear? Isn't that for the starting grid :D

Some very nice pictures! That no# 7 seems like exact copy of the picture I took after the race. Some handbrake action to keep the outside open for you 👍

Clio: 2:01.175

Thanks hobbsy for sparring yesterday. I think I might get it under 2:01 if I get a clean lap. I keep making small mistakes.

This sounds like a fun match up. I wouldn't mind taking part, if you'll have me. I'll be sure to get the Renault purchased over the next couple of days.

Had a short practice with King. Learned a couple of more secrets :D

edit: Got a 2:00.8 with S2K, no Clio this time round. I think i might keep S2K after all :)
