I'm sorry but my race weeks pretty full. There's already vcrc on Sunday.

Yeah, there are lots of nice events around. I have had vcrc on alert for some time now. Hope to join some day. The time of day is very different. vcrc at 3pm and this at 9 or 10 pm so if Brandon and hobbsy and others who join both events do not mind maybe try sunday? Monday could work for me as well.

Ok, I am heavily leaning towards friday as the date for this Event.

I will setup something this friday. If there are not enough people lets just consider it a an official practice. I will update the first post with complete Event settings when I get home 👍

This comes on short notice but it is a very short track :embarrassed:

Thumb up this post if you think you could possibly join :)

Sunday evening would work for me (VCRC is early in the morning, this would be late afternoon my time) but due to the time difference I will likely still be at work on Friday's. If it's after 6pm EDT (11pm GMT) on Friday, then I could participate.

11pm BST would be 1am for me. I am ok with that. King, hHamcio and hobbsy ok with that?

I thought the aussie within ;) us would probably have school monday morning (sunday evening in Europe) that is why I thought fri or sat would work best...

I shared the spreadsheet used for track settings. Password is "AllJapan" 👍

There might be minor updates.

I have mixed feelings about the CM -tyres. Did some more testing last night and @amarynceos also joined and seemed to have the same experience, so it is not just me :)

The CM tyres make S2000 and BRZ actually more fun to drive. But AE86 (Shigeno) and efini RX-7 are really a handful. @amarynceos still got decent lap times in those cars, though.

AE86 Shigeno really has character. Shame it is more like Eric Cartman from South Park. Loads of understeer then suddenly massive oversteer :scared: Huge respect if someone tames that car.

The efini's Turbo tears the tires off the tarmac losing grip even at 5k RPM. Did one lap driving only using 4th gear and it finally started behaving.

I do not want anyone to feel they have to drive a sucky car so vote is up:
1. Back to CS tyres
2. Use Recommended cars: RX-8, S2K, BRZ, Z (aliens are free to experiment with others but not obliged)

I am changing the Race type to Timed race, 15-20min for Sprint and 30-40 min for Main Race with reverse grid. Goal is that whole event takes maximum 1,5 hours. Updating settings later 👍

edit:

For main event I will have the CS as an option. Hopefully this will allow different pit strategies. So all tyres from CH to CS are available for main event! Goal is to set the Tyre wear / Fuel consumption so that it might be possible to survive without any if using CH (and car has a big tank) but it will be risky. Hope to test this tonight with some of the recommended cars :)

Tyre Wear and Gas consumption might be changed to be a notch faster: Fast for Sprint and Very Fast for Longer Race.

Last night tried tyre wear on S2k with CH with "Fast" Setting, almost no effect on tyres after 35 laps, maybe 1 sec slower than CM. About half tank used. I am guessing "Very Fast" will be maximum double effect so could be pretty close to what I had in mind :)

Anyone have any idea how much time a pitstop takes. If on 40 lap race you lose 1 sec each lap you probably do not gain anything compared to faster tyre and one stop...

Anyway, this is still Early stages of All Japan Club, lets see how it works. Please experiment :D

edit: Sprint race will only have CH and CM as an options. This means that you cannot start Race 2 with CS because you will have the same tyres form first race right? Changing tyres will force you to start from the end of the grid, right?

Pit stop delta for a tyre-only stop is about 20 seconds.

I just finished up some testing. Using a BRZ on CM with wear set to 'very fast' I did a 20 minute timed race. At the end I had used a tiny bit over half a tank of fuel, and tyres were at 8 front and 9 rear (front left almost to 7). Fastest laps were 1:02.4xx, most laps were right around 1:02.7 and by the end of the stint times had dropped into the low 1:03s.

Did the same with the S2000 '06, except I just did 19 practice laps (so I could pit at the end of the last lap and get a better read on fuel). Used 55 litres, tyres similarly worn to BRZ (left front less worn, left rear more worn), fastest laps 1:02.2xx, average 1:04-1:08, dropping into the low 1:03s in the last part of the stint.

Was going to test more cars, and test CS tyres as well, but I became too tired, so only did some laps with the RX-8 -- fastest laps 1:01.3xx.

Think I'll stick with my BRZ for tomorrow's race.

I'll be in the same car , with the same tires equipped
great report , I had no time to test yet , so thanks for your post:bowdown:

Hi @Cu3e, I doubt that i can make it tonight, really busy week and still have lots of things on so i'll send my apologies now.

If I do get a chance, I know where to come 👍

Have a good one, Laters

Is there any real significant difference in wear rate in this game? I know in real life this kind of thing can be achieved but I don't know if it will work like that in GT6. I'd guess there will likely be a 3-4 second gap in times between CS and CH so with only a 20ish second pit delta it will probably always be the better option to run on better tires. Plus, the chance of loosing control on harder tires is enough greater that I'm not sure it would be worth the risk.

Anyone have any idea how much time a pitstop takes. If on 40 lap race you lose 1 sec each lap you probably do not gain anything compared to faster tyre and one stop...

You won't lose 1 second per lap. In most cars I can do roughly the same lap times on lap 15 as I do on lap 2, sometimes I actually get faster after a dozen laps or so and don't really see any drop in times until my tires get really bad or I get very light on fuel.

Also, we'd be able to start race 2 on any tires we want unless you restrict them. There is a break between races where we can go change our tires. If the room is restricted to CH and CM then we won't be able to use CS, but the game doesn't care which tires you were on in the previous race. And changing tires won't place you at the back of the grid unless you mandate it and kindly ask that driver to move to the back of the grid by doing a manual line up.

I like the idea of having different compounds, but I'm not sure that theory will work in this game. You'd need to have a very large difference in wear rate between the two and need long enough races that would absolutely require a tire change due to excessive wear. With these cars, on CM, I'm guessing most could do at least 15-20 laps on Very Fast wear without having to change tires, so there wouldn't be any benefit to selecting CH tires.

However, in the Ferrari races we experimented with using different tires to meet an approximate lap time. So maybe have CS and CM as options and if a driver is faster than the target time on CS tires they could downgrade to CM to see if that brings them closer to the target. Each driver could experiment with different car/tire combo's to find the one that puts them on target. A BRZ on CS might do similar times to an RX-7 on CM (but the straight-line speed could still be an issue with the BRZ). We only tried it a few times but it seemed to work really well.

Hope this didn't sound negative, just trying to provide feedback based on experience. I'll try to join up tonight but I haven't done any practice since the last event.

Yea, I am still experimenting. Thanks for the info! 👍

Would really like if harder tires would last longer and there would be possibility for strategy.

It seems, that (probably) I won't be able to participate tonight :/ I'm sick and I'm not feeling good... Hope, you'll have a great race!
