AFI are damn good (they're punk).
Rancid are good.
I know of a good local Punk/Skacore band round my area called Capdown. They're pretty much one of my all time favourite bands. If you have Kazaa or any other downloading programme then I suggest you download some of their stuff. If you do some good songs are:
Strength In Numbers,
Faith No More,
Judgement Days,
Ska Wars.

Actually, Rancid are posers.

I like punk, but I like late 70s/early 80s punk; real punk. Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Pistols, Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, etc. The Clash border on punk but aren't quite.

It's too easy a formula to copy; that's why I don't really like the later copycats. I almost always listen to the local college station and on the way home from work yesterday I heard 40 minutes of what sounded like Ramones songs but weren't.

Dear sweet Jesus, no!

Black Flag, The Clash, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, Anti-Flag, Propagandhi, Rancid, and the Ramones are excellent.

Another punk band I just heard of a couple days ago, Nomeansno, is very excellent.

Mind you, moose bites can be very nasty. Klos, check out the Dead Kennedys at your earliest resonable opportunity. It's all good but In God We Trust Inc. is probably their finest hour.

Where is Guttermouth at ???

The Ramones -> godfathers.
Offspring -> in the early days
Dead Kennedy's -> listened a little to them
Pennywise -> one of my favorites

As of now, my favorite punk band would have to be Bad Religion.

I also enjoy NOFX, Pennywise, Bombshell Rocks, Descendants, Hot Water Music, and a lot of others.

not a huge fanner of the "classic" punk... its doable... but... i consider that more punk rock.... its good though.... all suggestions good.... but most suggestions are fairly mainstream in the punk world (as if the "punkers" have a world...)... but any how.... some suggestions of my own....

starting line..... mi6... prolly my most favorite at the time... all their music is so easy to listen to over and over again.... plain white tees..... saves the day..... millencolin will always be good.....

i noticed a lot of punkers dont really like blink182..... but i must say... i enjoy them quite a lot.... what do you guys think....

capdown = pretty damn good..... also looking for some punk covers to old rap songs or new ones..... (im in the process of converting some hood rat siters of mine)

o yeah i almost forgot, Goldfinger, theire #2 on my all time fav. punk Bands, after Millencolin

:D
You've made me a happy man. I thought I was the only one who like them.
I have to say there are some legendary bands comming up here, like Millencolin, NOFX, Goldfinger, Anti Flag etc. But I've found that some of the "main stream" punk bands as it were that have been slightly adapted for commercialy have gone a bit crap. That's why I'm all of a sudden into kind of under ground punk. I live next to Brighton (city in England) and there's this really good shop tucked away called Punka Bunka. It's tiny but there's soooo many good bands and music down there, I'm like a little boy in a candy shop. As the name suggests they mainly specialise in punl, with a bit of rock, but they mainly pormot and have cd's of bands just starting up and are trying to look for record labels's as well as the bigger one's e.g. NOFX. Quite cheap as well.

BTW. Could you count Reel Big Fish in this. They're more Ska though. And another band for you all who cna be arsed to try are Link 80.

Romones
Goldfinger
Middlefinger
NOFX
early Blink 182
MXPX
Offspring
311(yes they are punk)
And saving the best for last......Beastie Boys

NOFX, Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, Pennywise, Blink 182, Early Sum41, Early Good Charlotte, Early Offspring, The Clash, Early Greenday, Goldfinger. Thats all off the top of my head.

And Duke is right, Rancid are posers. They took what made the Clash famous and added their own lyrics. Apparently people liked it, though.

¤Descendents
¤Lagwagon
¤Good Riddance
¤Adhesive
¤Anti-Flag

Besides punk i also listen alot to Hardcore/Emo bands such as:

¤Fugazi
¤Thursday
¤Pedr oThe Lion
¤Rites Of Spring
¤Boy Sets Fire
¤This.Day.Forward
¤Finch
¤Further Seems Forerver
¤From Authum To Ashes

Will someone please explain to me what the hell "Emo" is? I heard it was short for "emotion".

All music should have emotion in it, or else there's no bloody point in listening to it. Music is emotion.
