Feeder isn't realy punk, it falls under the Alternative category. Their older stuff is more grunge than anything else.

Rise Against is pretty cool tho. i'm a big fan of Dead Kennedys, NOFX, Millencolin, Suicide Machines, Misfits, Lagwagon, theres some cool 'hardcore punks' or whatever you want to classify it as, it's all just music.

anyone ever heard of District Seven? their pretty ****ing awesome dude, kinda underground but you can find them on Google or something, good band.

Kinda Sorta. You can usually find a decent sampling of punk music on the Punk-O-Rama CDs that Epitaph puts out every year. The CD is usually only about 4 or 5 dollars and has about an hour of great punk music. I discovered a lot of great bands thanks to these CDs.

I own Punk-O-Rama 2,3,4,5,6, and 8.

Some of the bands featured would include:
NOFX
Refused
The Distillers
Rancid
Bad Religion
and many, many more.

Lostprophets - are they considered punk?

Their first album was classified as Post-Hardcore (Whatever the **** that is), but some of the tracks feel a bit like prog metal. Their newer album has a more produced feel to it, making them sound like a good version of Linkin Park.

Punk = Stuff like Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, Millencolin, The Vandals, Guttermouth and stuff like that.

Edit: I might check those punk-o-rama CD's out, i've seen them around.

Yeah, I bought their new album (Start Something) the other day. They do sound similar to LP...👍

it sucks that the current crop of "pop punk" acts are even considered punk at all...cause there not....a few bands that everyone who wants to gain some appreciation for punk should check:
The Stooges ( the true originals)
The New York Dolls
MC5
Television
Rocket From the Tomb
Patty Smith
Dead Boys
Modern Lovers

my favourites are greenday, grinspoon, NOFX,MXPX, TOOL(not really punk) lost prophets, guttermouth, AFI, NO USE FOR A NAME,
antisceptics and lost more i cant remember

Actually, Rancid are posers.

They have been working with Kelly *shudder* Osbourne.

I bought a music mag that has the top ten albums (well in their opinion) for each genre. Some of the old school punk I might check out.

Guttermouth..Yeah, definately Guttermouth. If thats even punk nowadays with all the ****ty **** out there now..

I wanna tell yo a little story that makes you warm inside. I think this thing should start up again. There were some good convos and msgs! Sublimdood, you have good taste in music. Sublime kicked but will always kick ass!!!!!

my favourite punk bands are
NoFX( the best ever)
Anti-Flag
Descendants
Bad Religion
Epoxies
Strung Out
DOA

and pretty much anything from epitaph.
If anyone is looking for a good cd with a variety of different punk bands i suggest Rock Against Bush Vol 1, i bought it 2 weeks ago and listen to it every day.

I'm liking punk more and more every day, I curently listen to:
Rancid
Dropkick Murphys
NOFX
Pennywise
Slayer (Cover songs) (check out Undisputed Attitude, 1996) 13 out of 14 songs are punk. The last one is metal.

Many Slayer fans really don't like Undisputed Attitude since its 90% punk cover songs and two punk songs that Slayer made, Its their worst album to some fans since Slayer is (speed / thrash) metal.

Are the Butthole Surfers considered Punk?

Now, i didnt look at every page but, i didnt see any Alkaline Trio in there. There newer stuff isnt the best, but there older stuff is ace for sure.

I don't quite see Lostprophets as punk, but I don't know what I'd class them as. Their lyrics aren't as... poetic (for lack of a better term) as emo stuff seems to be, it seems to be more focused on a set rhyming scheme. It's pretty damned catchy too, so I suppose the comparison to Linkin Park is warranted.

All-time best punk? Have to go with the old stuff; Ramones and Sex Pistols. They're the default answer for a reason, since without them it wouldn't be. And Jimmy Eat World was never a punk band. Like Klos said, they might have some punk-ish songs... but they are more commonly looked at as one of the earlier modern emo bands.

I like to listen to Rancid, Transplants, I dunno some say they're punk, some say they're not. Also I listen to Billy Talent, Slipknot, Alexisonfire, Goldfinger. Punk or not, I really don't care, I just listen to anything that sounds good to me. Most of all I listen to Marilyn Manson, what would he be classified as?
