all time best punk bandsMusic

Really mopar, chill the **** out man. Just because somebody likes to listen to pop-punk doesn't mean that you have to flip out like that. How about you listen to what you enjoy to listen to...and let them listen to what they want to. Side note, turn your caps-lock off.

it just makes me mad that these famous (trendy) bands like good chalrotte (or however the **** you spell it) have the power to influence young minds, and they don't! they sing about how they have 5 cars and when they broke up with their girlfriend.

what i mailnly had a problem with was whes they said that one of the greatest punk bands was good charlotte. punk is not just a sound, it is an attitude it's about thinking for yourself, being you and not giving a **** about what society thinks because society tells you what to do. if you do what society tells you to your life is pointless, you are carbon-based wayste! and today, you should start living for yourself, NOT because I told you to, but for yourself. who cares what shoes you buy, or if you look 'cool' or not. don't be society's whore.

As quite a few have already said in here...punk is dead. Just enjoy it for what it is, good music, and get over the fact that kids are listening to crappy sellout bands like GC and Blink 182.

mopar, were u referring to the locust as punk? dude theyre insane noise/grind, not punk. admittedly grind has punk influences but is not punk.

my fave "punk" bands:
strung out
PRE sing the sorrow AFI.
thrice
suicidal tendencies
the misfits (danzig days)
social distortion
whoever mentioned agent orange, yeh man, they really fuc ken rock. i love the surfy punk rock. great stuff.

i mainly get into hardcore, metalcore tho, which do have "punky" influences, though hard to hear.
as i lay dying
killswitch engage
blood has been shed
evergreen terrace
mourning tide
nodes of ranvier
the red chord

I edited that part out due to some extreme contridiction to what I said in this thread earlier. I can't stand Sum 41, though. They're one of the lowest points in the pop-punk invasion of the late 90's.

Well, that's your opinion. I can't argue.

Even though some of you think punk is dead, I still know a couple of punk bands (be it underground) that do it just for the music. I've been to gigs where the band has actually promotted in getting it's music across the web by copying rather than recommend people going out and buying its CD (for the fact of they want to get their message across). And as people say IMO punk isn't the style of music or how you play it, it's the whole thing and band. But then again you could say that to a tiny certain degree that in that light you could maybe say that bands like Rage Against The Machine were slightly punk, by going by what there lyrics were about. Whether they were actually genuine or not is another thing, or whether they just did it for their rep, I don't know.
Sublimedood10: guessing from your name and one of your last posts, I'm guessing that you have some of Sublimes stuff?
If so my mate just reccomended them to me. I've got wrong way, what else you reccomend?

Wrong Way is the last song that I'd reccomend.

A favorite for most people is Santaria, it's a really catchy song.

My personal favorite is one called Pool Shark (acoustic). It's an incredible song written about Bradley Nowell's (singer) heroin addiction that eventually took his life.

Date Rape, 40oz To Freedom, Doin' Time, Don't Push, and Mary are some other really good songs.

Cheers man. Downloading.

And Silvrezone, I can gurantee you will grow out of them. I went thorugh your stage when I was about 14, Offspring were like my fav band back then. Then very quickly I found out about real punk. ;)

311 is some ****ty band that tries to be like Sublime but fails miserably.

Well, excuse me, but I like 311. 311 is not ****ty. They are one of the best alternative bands there is ever. And no, 311 is not punk rock, ironically they do sound like punk except it is not true. So do not underestimate a band that has gained widespread popularity, it really is stupid

I agree with SublimeDood on this one. 311 sucks. The only reason I say this is because they aren't good.

But then again I hate Sublime too.

A band is good just because they're popular? You bring up some interesting points.
