all time best punk bandsMusic

Mansons latest album, as described by him, is "new age industrial punk with a hint of '30's Berlin caberet decadence" . Which is to say neck-snapping headbnager tunes to which i have been listening to for the past year. I thought he was a ****in retard in grade 7...now hes just F-ing amazing. Eh Jeff? New Model No. 15 (Mechanical Animals, rock) and This Is The New **** and Para Noir (The Golden Age Of Grotesk) are awesome songs. Although manson's latest CD is pretty much punk, his past few have been mostly just plain old loudass amaizng rock, but Smells Like Children was just plain (pardon my language but i have to say it) ****ing weird. Well thats my review of my favorite punk band. And yes, Marilyn Manson is a band, it started out as "Marilyn Manson and the spooky kids" but all the spooky kids left, including Twiggy Ramirez. His current band members are MW Gacy, Ginger Fish, John5 and Tim Skold.

Bad Religon
Minor threat
Black Flag
NOFX
Bad Brains
Descendents
Banner Pilot
Circle Jerks and OFF! all good punk bands

I like the older punk bands... Sham '69, The Dickies, Sex Pistols, DOA, some of the Clash, and Ramones. I also remember some Teenage Head tunes being decent too. Gotta go through my vinyl to remember more... Stiff Little Fingers, some Generation X, MC5, Dead Kennedys and some Siouxie and the Banchees. I know I'm forgetting more bands...

Have a good one

Bad religion are still awesome live. saw them last year at HOB anaheim and it was awesome.

NoFX still kick ass. gotta go see them soon.

I'm ashamed! 7 pages of Punk thread and the most epic of epic Punk bands isn't mentioned? Toy Dolls, but if you listen, don't expect anything serious, they just write funny Punk music. :P

Most of those 7 pages are 8 years old to be fair.

Yeah, but... But... Yeah they are. I looked and I didn't want to post due to the age, but seeing someone else brought it back I felt a need to mention Toy Dolls (who aren't new, they're from the 70's).

The best punk band ever is deffinatly millencolin:) Oh and the sex pistols
What was I thinking? I still enjoy Millencolin but I wouldn't even consider them the best (their last few albums have been closer to pop rock anyhow) and don't even get me started with the Sex Pistols. So overrated, definitely influential but not at all a decent band. I don't really enjoy punk rock quite as much as I did when I was younger, but I still get right into it. There's nothing like a live punk gig, just so much energy.

A really good hardcore punk band I've been listening to a fair bit recently is OFF! with Keith Morris (of Black Flag and Circle Jerks fame) fronting the band. They released their debut album at the end of 2010 and it's definitely worth a listen if you're right into the classic '80s hardcore punk.

What was I thinking?

I say that a lot in the music forum. I used to think Sublime was god's gift to music. I played their **** out so hard in high school I can't even stand to listen to them anymore.

I only really listen to punk when I'm nostalgia'ing anymore. It was definitely my favorite type of music in high school but I've moved on for the most part.

I still listen to Hot Water Music, and some old Refused from time to time if I want something hard. Mostly though, i got bored of punk.

I like old Misfits, and Samhain is pretty cool.

More bands to enjoy just off the top of my head are Bad Brains, The Germs, The Casualties, Screeching Weasel, Dead Milkmen
