Shot this one with my Galaxy S4 today. Done some quick editing with PicsArt afterwards.

My first try at light painting... Had no idea what I was doing I just really wanted to try it. Ended up merging around 8-10 pictures and tried blending everything together.

Advice for future attempts? (aside from a more consistent light source)

2 iPhones (Light source)
tripod
remote
Canon 50D
Canon EF 17-40mm

I think the sky looks overly bright...

Normally in HDR (not the ones that go full out) you get some darker swirls as such

It all seems a bit flat to me... Not sure where the sun is, but you probably could've used a polarizing filter to give the sky more contrast too. Let me see what I can shape with a .jpeg

@Michael88 - your sky is too cyan instead of blue. You can use a selective color adjustment layer in Photoshop and bring the cyan back towards true blue and then darken it a touch to provide additional contrast in the sky.

@Swagger897 - you can emulate having a polarizing filter for the sky/clouds by reducing the luminance of the blue channel via HSL. Fiddling with the cyan tones can help smooth the effect.

Provided he does in fact have an editing program capable of such (I assume so however).

I just gave an example on how it could be brought out naturally rather than in post..

Yeah, I guess you're right. Unfortunately I don't even have PS and most freeware programs are bad at targeting certain tones. :>

So anyhow, just made a quick pick of the city I used to live in (horribly compressed JPEG)...

Had a little bit of a play just with a phone and vsco after visiting the botanical gardens today. Trying to get interested again really. Hoping to get an iPad around Christmas time so I can use Lightroom and one of those lightning chords to go straight from sd card to the iPad. I really hate using computers so would prefer to just use the iPad. Anyone else do this?

Pictures aren't anything flash after having a look. Doesn't help having a shattered screen.

Edit; Dammit. I'll have to photo bucket the pictures. Thought I could just go straight from vsco

I used my iPad first to edit photos from photoshop express. It's sort of like lightroom in a way, but yet it isn't.

I've bought the standalone LR, so I've never tested it out. I do know my photos load SUPER SLOW on an iPad 2, so unless you have anything newer than that, I'd stick with a computer.

Going to be getting an Air 2 unless I get too impatient saving and just get an Air. Anyone edited on both and can tell me if there is a noticeable difference?
