I guess all those text messages which made him look like a toddler - and everyone in his orbit look like ass-kissers - becoming available upset him.

What I named my fists.

Assuming there's adequate evidence, then good, let's charge him. Politicians and their kids should not be above the law no matter what party they represent.

And, unsurprisingly, I've already seen more than one comment that's said "see Biden's kid is guilty", which sure, that's great, but that doesn't excuse Trump's family of criminals.

Proof that Biden withheld aid from Ukraine to help Hunter so when Trump did it it wasn't bad.

As lustful and depraved as the right paints Hunter, that has the potential to be...awkward.

Twitter and its shareholders know they have him screwed, and I'm quite happy about that.

It's highly likely the investors he had in place will pull out, he will have to get rid of the majority, if not all, of his Tesla stock (which will be nothing but good news for Tesla), and he will be left holding Twitter, worth around a 1/4 of what he pays for it.

If he then attempts to implement his proposed changes, it's will likely MySpace in short order.

What will replace my Twitter account though? I actually really like Twitter and hope it doesn't disappear from my life.

I'll miss all the twits but that platform was slowly radicalising me so maybe it's for the best.

The solution to what? I don't see how that'd help Twitter being CFITed and people needing to find new social media to replace it.
...for the perfect echo chamber.
It doesn't work, because only showing posts from people you follow doesn't stop Twitter from showing what they like and retweet/quote tweet. All it takes is an account "you are interested in" to suddenly start amplifying hate and you've got a feed full of hate.

Everyone who follows me gets occasional notifications of things about Sheffield Wednesday. Similarly I get the weird outside interests (and they are weird) of the people I follow.

You can mitigate it by selectively muting phrases and accounts (or blocking them), but I still get "Apartheid Clyde" (as Azealia Banks referred to him, to Grimes, following their breakup) in my feed - as a placeholder blanked message - because I work in an industry where he's sadly relevant and colleagues quote tweet him in incredulity at the latest ****witted thing he's said to distract from whatever he doesn't want people to notice.

To seeing **** you don't want to see. I only use it for local road closure notifications, weather updates, and space related stuff. Works just fine for what I need. People that complain about what they see on there simply are doing it wrong.

Edit: this works wonders...

That... weirdly wasn't the topic, but okay.

Cool, but as above it only takes one account from the myriad you follow to start liking/retweeting/qting messages from people you don't want to see messages from and you've got messages from people you don't want to see messages from in your timeline.

I gave one example of the only account I've ever blocked anywhere on anything already (although I bet that account becomes impossible to block if events continue on their current path). I've also booted a colleague from my follows because he just kept posting bizarre right-wing dogwhistles. Every now and then he pops up in my feed because some other colleagues, who I quite like, still occasionally like/RT/QT his posts (not the right-wing dogwhistle ones).

There's a colleague I don't want to see anything at all from, because they creep me the ** out and I find their content tedious, but I don't ascribe to the School of Block (also they're a massive attention whore and finding out they're blocked would cause issues) and since others follow them and amplify them because they aren't creeped the ** out and like their content I've had to take some interesting steps to keep them out of my timeline - but I still know when they've posted.

I follow a lot of things for professional reasons. That doesn't stop dumb ** appearing on my timeline. I have to follow official game accounts, some of which are in a specific, curated list for articles. Guess what? Dumb **!

As all the people I follow - almost exclusively for professional reasons - have varied interests, I get all sorts in my feed too. That includes Kanye's latest moronic screed.

Simply following only accounts you're interested in and only showing their Tweets (which includes likes/RTs/QTs) is not sufficient in keeping "**** you don't want to see" off your timeline. You need to do more, and sometimes you cannot keep ****s you don't want to see off your timeline at all.

Works fine for me. Your experience may vary apparently.

Yeah, no. Just following accounts you're interested in, as you claim, does not solve the problem" of having things you don't want to see in your timeline:

The solution is to only follow accounts you are interested in and then set your feed to show only posts from those accounts...
That's not sufficient; you need to mute (words and accounts) and block too, and you need to be active about it (often after-the-fact) because nothing will stop people you follow engaging with people you don't follow and putting their things you don't want into your timeline.

And that's without Twitter's regular 5.5-day cycle of promoting clickbait, NFT/crypto, and gambling accounts.

*Which is actually the site working as designed

Are you using the same app as me? Because I'm getting none of what you are going on about. There is nothing in my timeline from people I don't follow. No ads, no spam, nothing. Only posts from accounts I follow.

And if you are seeing stuff from accounts you follow that you don't want to see, that's on you to decide if you really want to follow them.

This is cute when Wendy's does it every so often because it's generally, funny, smart, & witty replies.

I think I've officially crossed the line of being out of touch with a newer generation.

What happens if, however unlikely it is, "ArizonaDOT" (I've no idea who else you follow) retweets Russian propaganda for some reason? It appears in your timeline, because following accounts means you get to see their likes and retweets/QTs.

I don't follow "Fake Showbiz News". I do follow the guy who retweeted it; he's a colleague in my industry. So I get it in my timeline:

That's literally how it works; you cannot opt out of seeing the likes of accounts you follow. You can turn off their retweets though...

Edit: Oooh, turns out you can, with creative use of the Mute function, globally mute retweets (although not only them); there is only the option to turn off accounts' retweets individually though.

And if you are seeing stuff from accounts you follow that you don't want to see, that's on you to decide if you really want to follow them.
Err... yes? But that's nothing to do with what you said, which was bunk.

Only following accounts you're interested in is not the "solution" to "seeing **** you don't want to see" as you claim. You will still see it, unless you mute and block - sometimes after the fact, of course - as well.

You can of course always use scripts and plugins, but we're several steps removed from "just don't follow" at that point.
