Apparently Trump is claiming credit for several Gulf states imposing sanctions on Qatar over accusations that they are financing terrorism. This seems like a bad move to me because:

a) Qatar is one of the few nations that has successfully prosecuted terrorist financiers and frozen assets.
b) Saudi Arabia is leading the charge against them, and where Qatar succeeds in prosecutions, Saudi Arabia doesn't even try.
c) The majority of Qatar's population is Shia, so there appears to be a political motivation when all of the Sunni states are imposing sanctions.
d) Further instability is the last thing that the Middle East needs.

My source on all of this is political commentary from the morning news.

Umm...the point C.
It's bahrain that actually have the majority of Shia, not sure about qatar tho (I'm not that geographical).

I don't like where this is going since i fear that it might make one of the more "safer" part of the middle east as destructive as Syria right now.

Bugger. I always get those two mixed up.

Still, points a) and b) are the most relevant and the most concerning.

Neither do I, since it appears that the plan is to bring peace to 90% of the Middle East by demonising the other 10% and turning them into a common enemy.

I don't know much about Qatar, but it has to be a pretty nice place, I don't think they would of picked it to host a World Cup if it wasn't....

A couple of weeks ago Trump met with the Gulf Cooperation Council. He enjoined them to take the lead in the fight against radical Islam, and against Iran. Probably Saudi Arabia has exceeded its brief in trying to settle old scores with Qatar. And Bahrain has been cracking down on its Shiite majority for the last two weeks. Tillerson will have to fix a few things. "What is happening is the preliminary result of the sword dance", tweeted Iran's president.

She goes by Sara Winner on Twitter; I'm guessing that's her real name. She's a bit extreme going by her Tweets & Facebook account, though.

So it's less about whistle blowing and more about political bias, and taking gov't to task to be some pseudo revolutionary hero?

It's certainly a more sensible name. When I saw the name "Reality Winner", I was reminded of an old teachers' urban legend about an Irish girl whose name was pronounced "shi-theed" - except that it was spelt with an "ea" instead of an "ee" ...

I guessed as much yesterday going on the admittedly thin evidence of her young age and her hippy-ish name. Strange times we live in.

Maybe? Don't know.

It's just really odd to me she was reportedly given top secret clearance despite some of the things she's said. /shrug
