Are you our new twitter feed?
With a total of one retweet so far, he's going to have to go some to beat the other person, let alone your president.

Was that the Nessun Dorma scene from Daredevil they shooped?

They also posted a picture with no elaborating text. Also not sure what Trumps Twitter habits have to do with not contributing much to a video game forum.

If we're discussing the general subject of Twitter I'd say he's pretty much the yardstick for prolific tweeters. More so than the guy who retweeted one post at any rate. Not sure how that would make that poster a "Twitter feed" myself or why the President of the US would be off topic in an official America thread but each as you say to their own.

In an attempt to drive conversation with reference to my earlier post: looking at that tweet again it was definitely the scene from Daredevil that was photoshopped.

My original comment was referencing a certain member that used to come into this section and only post tweets, photos or videos and nothing else plus never responding to people. It didn't go over well than so I was just merely asking if this person was planning on doing the same thing.

So again, not sure how Trump's stupidity has anything to do with this.

With a source called "Democratic Underground", and a member name of "GOPHater", I think one can collectively assume this section isn't for you when you openly advertise your bias.

What I'm saying is that one tweet does not a "Twitter feed" make. Perhaps wait for the second tweet in a row before jumping on the guy.

Which is why I was asking him if that was his intention as he never responded to my response to his previous post (a single ill-informed photo and nothing else) and he hasn't been back since this last one.

Supreme Court rules in favor of Trump's travel ban.
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/04/sup...rumps-travel-ban-to-go-fully-into-effect.html
  • The Supreme Court is allowing President Donald Trump's latest travel ban on six Muslim-majority nations to go into effect.
  • Two of the nine justices — Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor — dissented.
  • The ban applies to travelers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

I sure hope the terrorists don't figure out they can travel to countries unaffected by the ban before traveling here. Or get in via Mexico or Canadia for that matter...

And just FYI, the link is broken/incomplete.

Still no Lebanon (1 9/11hijacker), Egypt (1 9/11hijacker), United Arab Emirates (2 9/11hijackers), or Saudi Arabia (15 9/11hijackers)?

Not to surprised that the Supreme Court backed it, doesn’t make it a smart idea though (just like the stupid wall).

I thought it went by passport, but even than it probably wouldn’t be any harder as fake identification isn’t exactly difficult to obtain.

The only logic I can think of is that the president gets to control immigration. Regardless of whether it's right, wrong or indifferent.

Edit: Some of those states on the ban are failed states, with no functioning central government. Iran - I guess - is there for political/policy/Shia reasons.

Is that the criteria for the ban, only countries that spawned someone involved in a terrorist incident 16 years ago? There have been no developments on the terrorist front since then?

It never occurred to me a terrorist would use a legitimate passport, even if they were allowed to travel freely.

When the pretense is to protect the United States from terrorism it would seem logical to at least consider the worst terrorist attack in US history. Unless there are ulterior motives for the ban. Saudi Arabia seems to be getting off lightly given its long history in sponsoring terrorism, or at the very least, failing to prevent Saudi citizens from sponsoring terrorism.

Sudan and North Korea are also absent from the list even though they are two of the four countries designated the US State Department as state sponsors of terrorism; Syria and Iran being the other two.

I’m sure there are some, mainly those that were either born here or moved here at a young age, became a citizen and later became radicalized. Which makes this travel ban all the more stupid as those are seemingly a much bigger threat than someone coming over from a different country.

9/11, while horrific and unforgettable, was more than a decade and a half ago and a lot has happened since then. The ban is obviously more of a political move, appeasing the base and fulfilling a campaign promise, rather than one born of careful thought and consideration. The Saudi's are off the list for the same reason they are always off the list - $$$, politics, diplomacy, strange bedfellows etc. If a ban were to take effect Sudan and NK should be on the list without a doubt.

Ultimately this. The expectation is that the President will be a good woman or man who is the ultimate ambassador, a compassionate and benevolent leader with a firm grasp of the sort of high-level politics befitting of arguably the most important office in the free world.

Bad luck, America.

I suppose that it is indeed wise to fervently hope and pray, as a non-US person, that the US president will be an ambassador, compassionate and benevolent. But Americans themselves would fall over laughing at that silly, wishful foreign idea. From the beginning, through now, and to the end, the ideal US president will be above all realistic, and hold the peace, freedom and prosperity of US citizens first in mind.

When will the day come that the "free world" (wut?) has a presidential office for which it votes and supports with their taxes?

Trump was in Utah today shrinking several National Monuments. As much as I love national parks, it was the right thing to do. However, the reason behind doing it wasn't the right thing. Essentially they want to keep the land federal instead of state so the government makes money off the natural resources instead of the state itself. People were cheering it, but it just seems like the feds are stealing money from the state and masquerading it as a win over the Obama administration. Never mind that all this publicity around Bears Ears now put it on the map. I fully expect an important archaeological site to be destroyed by "tourist" who think taking a piece of it is cool.

We were also trapped in our building most of the afternoon since the street we use to exit the parking garage was completely blocked off. I couldn't see the other side, but looking out the window near my cube this is what I saw:

I respect your right to protest, but I don't respect your right to be a nuisance. There was an area set up for protestors near the capital, but this jerks thought blocking a major intersection was what they needed to do. Police tried moving them and they all laid down in the street chanting about police brutality or something. Finally, the riot police showed up and dispersed them.

They didn't have a permit to block off the road and the street we're on is a major artery into the hospital, so emergency vehicles needed to be rerouted in a city that already had numerous other streets closed off.

The best part about the protest though is a city bus was clearly sick of the stuff and just slowly crept through the crowd while they threw stuff at it and beat on the side of it. If there's one thing you don't do in SLC, it's mess with bus drivers. They're a special kind of crazy.

In addition to downsizing the monuments, Trump also met with Mormon leaders to discuss religious freedoms...which seems odd. Utah is like 85% Mormon and virtually all of our laws are based on the faith. If there's one place that doesn't need any more freedom it's here. It's also kind of funny since most conservative Mormons hate Trump because he's divorced wives, said things they find repulsive, and isn't charitable.

Congratulations to the Billionaires Club! They've been through some sticky moments with the Trump candidacy & even more with his actual presidency, but at the end of the day, they & their Randist backers have got the big prize: a massive tax cut for the ultra wealthy. This is guaranteed to accelerate the trend of increasing wealth disparity between the 1%, & more particularly the 0.1% - like the Donald Trumps of this world - & the remaining 99% of the US population.

The chart below shows that the 0.1% wealthiest US families now own the same amount of wealth as the bottom 90%. Perhaps even more problematic is the fact that the bottom 40% of the US population now owns just .03% of the countries wealth - basically they have no assets at all.

The second chart shows the actual distribution of wealth by quintiles of the US population. The three bars show the ACTUAL distribution, what people ESTIMATE is the distribution, & what they think should be the IDEAL distribution. It shows that the bottom 80% of the population own only about 15% of the wealth

The irony of this arrangement is that the very people - the working poor & lower middle class - who helped seal Trump's victory, will be the ones who stand to lose the most in this transfer of wealth under the new tax bill. Trump's little shell-game, with gullible voters being distracted by Mexican Rapists, Radical Islamic Terrorists, Crooked Hillary & the War on Christmas, will ensure that Trump & his reptilian offspring will be able to enjoy an effective tax rate lower than the middle-middle classes & a tax-free inheritance for the junior Trumps (just in case their substantial advantages of birth & connections fail to reward them with the growth in wealth they deserve).

The additional brilliance of this tax bill is the way it will blow up the deficit & national debt over the next decade, setting the stage for a Republican call to cut dramatically government spending on social programmes, further increasing the disparity between the very rich & the poor.
