What precedent are we talking about here exactly?
I imagine the precedent would be of law enforcement using heavy handed riot suppression tactics against people who aren't actually breaking the laws being enforced in the first place.

Hopefully that precedent is quashed before they try it against someone with a disposition more like those people who stormed those Michigan government buildings instead of some chick in the suburbs.

Arizona issued a state of emergency and we're under 8pm curfew for 1 week.

Not going to stop me from hitting the canyons next weekend to test out my new suspension. I am not the problem.

Unlikely.

Why even tempt it though? Yes, you aren't the problem but does a cop know that? Probably not.

At the very least police department could be looking for a way to substitute revenue they lost during the COVID lockdown by ticketing you for being out past a certain time. I don't know what the fine is, but it's probably a couple hundred bucks.

That could've been an easy, 1000x worse repeat of the FedEx-truck death that just happened. :scared:
As a stark contrast to the FedEx case, this appeared to be a completely deliberate targeting of the actual protesters, who at least have a legitimate case for self-defense. Not sure why he eventually stopped anyway though.

There were people sitting in the road, as stupid as he is, it doesn’t seem like he wanted to hurt people (he could have just veered left or right and hit lots of people). Which of course brings up the question of why he would be driving into a large group of people at highway speed to begin with. :odd:

Also, supposedly some protestors were protecting the driver so he could be arrested. The fact he was released from the hospital already would seem to support this.

Really, really, really wish the media would shed a bit more light on these people. It's been so evident protesters are working harder than ever to remain peaceful & considerate of others, no matter the side.

Edit* Adding this since it's a similar situation; protesters catch a guy breaking up the sidewalk and turn him over to police. Police return guy who got caught up handing the suspect over.
*Language warning.

The MPD has acknowledged them at least.

We should be seeing more of this. Video surveillance is everywhere and facial recognition software is better than ever.

An InfoWars watermark is an instant asterisk.
Speaking of InfoWars, President Obama issued a statement on Twitter:

InfoWars regular, alt-right conspiracy theorist and agitator, Birther and general Trumpkin--the sort of person @Chrunch Houston would have you believe is "normal" (compare to "leftist", a term co-opted as a pejorative to describe anyone who doesn't support Trump, regardless of their actual political bent)--Mike Cernovich had this to say in response:

Trumpism, man.

Ah, the old rule #4 from Rules for Radicals. I have already told you that won't work with me. You have no idea who I think is normal.

I mean...

Yeah, I don't know how many normal people read this thread, but the leftists are very vocal here as in most of the political threads on gtplanet.

I found this kind of interesting. The Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown thinks that those who started the riots in SLC yesterday were from out of state. The arrest records that were released show that those were actually detained were from the area, but they only arrested 46 people and it's clear far more were causing it. I'll be curious to see why Brown drew this conclusion though. Granted, we have two major universities in the valley (University of Utah and BYU) that pull in people from all over so I'm sure that's some of it. But what was weird is that when I went downtown this morning to my office, the hotels were packed. Salt Lake really isn't a primo tourist destination during the summer, typically people just fly in, grab a rental car, and go the one of the National Parks down south. If they do stay around SLC, they're typically Mormons that are there to spend time at Temple Square.

If those inciting the riots were from out of town and came here with the sole purpose of causing mayhem, it makes me wonder who's behind it. I know some will jump and say ANTIFA, but without evidence, it literally could be anyone.

Also, that police car that was flipped. Apparently the weapons weren't taken out of it, they just melted into the asphalt:

As for going downtown today, everything was quiet and seemed like a typical Sunday morning. There were meth heads and homeless people wandering around, but for the most part, it was fairly chill. The area around my office looked like a goddamn war zone though. Thankfully, people are already starting to clean things up and get our capital city back in order.

Lots of looting in SF and across the bay in Emeryville. I don't think there's any delusion that people are coming from "out of town". Makes me sad people would vandalize/destroy/loot property in their own community. Is this really about Floyd at this point?

Appears that police stationed themselves at high dollar targets...unfortunately the looters simply wrecked unprotected stores. I like that Uniqlo. :nervous: At least there hasn't been, as far as I know, any attacks on people.

Edit: Looks like I'm wrong

Seems like the police departments are finally starting to drop the hammer on some of the cops who were having just a little bit too much fun wailing on people during this. Everyone who was even in the frame of that Atlanta disaster where the two kids got tased and dragged out of the car when they were trying to get home was apparently either fired or dumped on desk duty pending investigation. The guy who made absolutely sure to neutralize the threat posed by the old man with the cane supposedly is too.
