I’m shocked that someone who voted for Trump actually changed his mind. I still don’t believe in the fact that people are generally good, many things prove the opposite, but there is a tiny bit of hope out there that maybe a tiniest percent of people could change their mind when presented with facts. Although, this could just be an outlier. Still, this may be the best thing I’ve seen online in the last couple of days.

...I don't believe this is what happened. I'd wager it's more a case of "I don't like that people are critical of the things I said so I'm going to pretend I learned a lesson just to make it stop."

Well, that we already do know. What I’m saying is that talking to misinformed people in my mind has been a solid no since about 2017. I’m just saying there is a small hope that I have now that I’ve completely lost for ages. Still, probably 99% of the time it’s going to be impossible to breach the wall of misinformation. Hopefully democrats will have some cult experts on their team who may have some ideas on how to break through to people and break the cycle, cause as we learned now policy is not the issue, it’s getting through to people and opening their eyes to reality.

I don't think so, in other cases definitely but not with Chris. I have known him for a while and talk to him a fair bit in various places. He has a lot going on in his life, and is pretty vocal in this forum about struggling with his autism.

I genuinely just think he doesn't know. I would bet someone in his family told him or someone on the news told him something was bad and Trump will fix it and he took it at face value and that's that. And I think there are a ton of people like him, that don't vote for these parties maliciously but don't understand or comprehend the scale and meaning of what they're doing or what the parties mean.

But for the most part you wouldn't know, as I don't think those types are often online, hence part of their ignorance.

They say people should go out and vote but my vote was in a solid blue state and had no chance of effecting the general election. They might as well just hold elections for the next cycle in the swing states since a lot of voters are disillusioned.

Trump could completely shut down the EPA on day one and the domestic auto manufacturers aren't going to change anything with regards to what they are already doing/developing now or even really be helped in any way. Ford and GM already basically ignore CAFE thanks to the changes Obama made to it, so that would really help foreign manufacturers more than them; and they still have to follow CARB.

I'm glad Trump won, we wanted him too and we voted for him. He said he was gonna get some people to remove all fluoride from the public water supply. I hope he kept his word on what he was gonna do for us, (his goals).

To become a US citizen (and vote), I had to learn stuff that is clearly not taught in American schools. I wish birth citizens , in order to have the right to vote, had to pass the same tests that I did. We might have, you know, "informed voters".

Maybe this is why Trump hates us immigrants.

Just because someone is on the autism spectrum doesn't mean we should assume anything about them. There are plenty of people on the spectrum who are perfectly capable of having reasonable discussions and there are plenty of people who aren't on the spectrum who can't. We shouldn't assume someone is autistic, nor should we assume they need to be treated with kid gloves. Also, if the person wishes, they can explain that they have a difficult time with such things and give the reason why, then they can ask for help understanding. I'm willing to bet almost all of us here wouldn't have a problem breaking it down for someone who genuinely wants to learn and understand.

I totally agree with you here 100%. People don't understand what I have to go through daily. I have to make my own choices in life and from here on out, take more time to do research about the person before I vote for them. What's going on in America can be overwhelming, people don't know how to handle the truth. If there was no president, the world would be screwed and uncontrolled. Good luck with Trump y'all. We're stuck with him for 4 years unless there is an impeachment later on. But I don't think it will come to that. I honestly don't care what people think of me, I have my own opinions and expressions about this.

Trump misled you all on this issue, but Biden's team made it easy for him to do so.

As we've tried to explain quite a few times on this thread, Biden was talking about a supporter of his at one of his rallies, a comedian who called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage.

Biden responded in a video call to Latinos to say the comedian's opinion of Puerto Ricans was garbage. Due to a mixup by the White House stenographers his remarks were written down to sound like he was insulting everyone who supported Trump.

Biden should've watched his words more carefully as he ended up giving his opponents a golden opportunity to make him look bad. His statement should have been written to be a lot more unambiguous and less open to misinterpretation. Instead it made things worse.

Indeed, and that can be extended beyond just electronic devices. Even if manufacture of finished products could be moved back to the US, it's highly unlikely that every item in the supply chain right the way back to the raw-materials can by done within US borders. As such just about every manufactured item is likely to be hit to some degree, and the more complex the item, the greater the impact is likely to be.

Take a seemingly simple item, like a leather belt. While the leather could come from the US, as could any metal fittings on it, that's not the end of it. What about the chemicals and machinery used to process the leather and make the metal fittings? What about the source of the raw materials for the fittings, if we went for brass? Well that's currently mainly from Asia. What about any thread used for stiching?

Unless literally every item in the supply and every piece of machinery and every sundry used in the manufacturing chain is from the US it's going to have an impact on the cost of manufacturing, and that costs going to be pushed to the end consumer.

We live in a world (for better or worse) of global supply chains, and for any single country, even one the size of the US, to believe that it can apply tariffs on all imports without it having an impact on consumer costs (as Trump claims) is absurd.
