Announcements

[*]No More GTC class, all GTC drivers may either switch classes, or drop out
[*]Season Starts on Friday!

It is time to announce the long awaited second season of the ALMS! This is a racing league based off of the real American Le Mans Series.

After the success of season one, it's been decided that we are all ready to come back for some more! We race with two classes at once (trust me, I wish we could do all four, but there's no room in an online lobby for that)
LMP
GT

We race on Fridays, room opens at ~8:30 PM EDT, and race starts at ~9:15-9:30. We tend to wait for everyone to show up before starting, but this may change if we can get a reserve driver list going.

All aids are allowed except for skid recovery force.
Races will be ~200 km.
Grip reduction is set to high.
Penalties will be off as driving through ghosts is not only stupid, but it also makes for bad photos afterwards. :)
Damage will be on light.
Tire wear and fuel usage is on.

The points system will be the same as the one used in the real ALMS. Points are awarded for the finishing position in your class, not overall.
1st:20 Pts
2nd:16 Pts
3rd:13 Pts
4th:10 Pts
5th:8 Pts
6th:6 Pts
7th:4 Pts
8th:3 Pts
9th:2 Pts
10th:1 Pt
11th-16th:0 Pts

And yes the rumors are true. We will have teams this season. Team points will be awarded as the sum of the points given to the two drivers on the team. If you want to team up with somebody, you have to drive the same car in the same class. You drop the points from your worst two races at the end of the season. This way you can miss a race or two without being heavily effected in the points standings.

We qualify on Thursdays, top eight from each class move on to Friday.
Each class gets thirty minutes to qualify.

We are going to race on the following tracks in this order...
Laguna Seca
Nurburgring 24 Hour Course
Daytona Road Course
Suzuka
Circuit de la Sarthe 2005 w/o Chicanes
Cote d'Azure
Monza
Nurburgring GP/F
Circuit de la Sarthe 2009

Theres a huge gap between gt and lmp. I would suggest lighter weights and at least 500hp for gt. Its almost twice the weight and half the hp.

I'm interested :)

Since it's already Friday, the 1st race will begin? Or the race will start next week?

I'm interested but can you provide a list of the LMP and Group C cars. Also, Group GT, are these Race Modified or stock with Aero Mods?

Bored at work and was thinking up different class requirements to bring the field a bit closer together. Heres what I came up with

LMP : 700hp/830kgs
GT : 500hp/1100kgs (rm/race cars)

Not sure on the real differences in classes in the ALMS series, so maybe split up the GTs to closer fit ALMS.

A performance point system would be better to help balance the GT cars and would make setting up the race MUCH easier. The LMP cars around 690-700 PP (around 700hp), and GT cars ~ 625 (about 500-540hp in the cars I looked at)

700hp LMP cars would bring more into the field too, mainly the R10. It is a great car but lacks the power of the others. With a 700hp reg I think it would even the field between them. It will probably leave some Group C cars out though, I haven't really tested. But would bring them performance down closer to the GT cars.

FWIW daytona road course a LMP @ 750/850 runs about a 1.30-1.32 lap, and at Leguna seca about a 1.13-1.15. GT cars should be 10-15s of LMP cars.

Just my .02c

BTW I'm interested in the series, for a car I'm undecided (really depends on regs).

Guys yyou know I'm in for a second season!
I'd love to race GT this time, but with those specs the cars are gonna be a bit slow...
GTP: Jav
Psn: Jav122678
LMP: Audi R8 Team Oreca 05
GT: Gallardo

Guys I hate to sound like a 🤬 but I have put a lot of thought into this testing.
The cars are going to stay how they are.
The LMP class has the same rules as BermudaKid's LMP Championship.
The GT class is nearly even. (There will be a little but more testing to make sure)
And thats all that matters.
The Lambo's HP/Weight is about as limited as it can go.
We can't make them much lighter, as some of those cars are just heavy beasts.
We can't start preseason races for two weeks, as season one is still underway.

As I said, the regulations are subject to change.
That's why we have preseason races.

No RMs are allowed in GT.
Aero kits are allowed.

I tested lmp cars at 690 PP and they're pretty uneven..

I think with those regs and the delta times between the lmp and gt will have major problems. they'll probably be a good 30s off peace of a small track and 1 minutes+ on la sarthe.

I'll give the Gallardo a shot and see how it goes. either way you know I'm with you man!
See you on the track in an hour!!

About as official as it'll get. If you're running GT2 in Javs series you can run in this series (blatant copying of his specs plus the Z06 :P). Hopefully we can fill a grid with all different classes this season.

Lol!! You know there's no problem with that!! I like the sheet! Looks nice! Good job man!
Now you got me undecided on wich car to run!!!!

Guys, do you want to keep the Audi and McLaren on there?
More cars will be added.

When dealing with cars at this hp levels there's always gonna be a dominant one on different eviroments/tracks, the key is to have a constant and minimize the diferences... Everyone knows the pp system does not translate well when it comes time to race on track, so some work is required to even out the field, but it can be done.

Don't worry, I will require ballast to be added if a particular car dominates the field...

I'm surprised the M3 didn't make the cut.
Gatr I think I wanna take the Aston, not sure yet though!

The M3 will be in there.
All that is is your GT2 specs with the Z06.
All the cars in the second post will be in there.
As I said, I put Mitch in charge of this.
It's up to him when testing is done.

I'm not sure if my internet for the summer will work for this, but I'll give it a try. Put me down for GT for now. I'm a Viper guy, so I'd like to do that if possible (Either the 06 or 08 ACR, I'll do some testing in both). It'd be nice to see a Viper/Vette battle like Le Mans used to have.

Mitch/gatrs, let me know if you want any help testing. I don't have many cars, but I can test a few of them.

EDIT: Yep, looks like I'll be running an ACR (if that's still an officially allowed car). Black, red driver's stripe, red rims.

Yeah I totally forgot to add in the M3 from Javs list.....also with the Viper the ACR version is also on Javs GT2 list so I'll add that if anyone else is interested in using it.

Hi all,

Sorry I disappeared at the end of last season, had a lot of things come up (even had to neglect the series I'm running :embarrassed:).

I'm definitely interested. Gonna test some cars, see which I like best. Will update this post with my setup 👍

Guys, the Audi R8 will NOT be allowed this season.
I've determined that it's too quick and too easy on tires.
I'm going to update the LMP HP and Weight soon...

With the gt class regs, I'll be racing lmp..

I'll be adding you in now!
I'm sorry that you don't like the GT regs.
Mitch is working on that for me.
If anybody wants to try out GTC for a race, this Friday is the season finale for the ALMS season 1 at Le Mans.
Lots of people are already trying out cars for the specs that they'll be running next year, I will probably run GTC for this race if there is anybody else...
