Announcing GTune 5 for iOS - Now supports ALL Cars & latest DLC

^mkel - never mind about my question above. I think I know what is going on.

On the iPad you are likely using the "Emoji" keyboard to generate the thumbs up etc. symbols, but that keyboard is not available by default in iOS 4.2.1 on the iPhone 3G. Fortunately there is a way to get it working.

First off - for those (like me) that were not aware of how to access and use the Emoji keyboard, let's start there.

On your iPhone go to:

Settings
General
Keyboard
International Keyboards
Add New Keyboard
Select "Emoji"

Now when you are using the keyboard you will see a little globe icon next to the space bar. Tap this icon to toggle through any international keyboards you have enabled - Emoji will be one of them.

If you are on iOS 4.x you will likely have to go through an additional process to enable the Emoji keyboard:

1. Download the "Emoji Free!" app from the App Store. (Note: I did not create this app and I have no idea if it does anything malicious to your phone. However, I have seen many recommendations for it on the interweb so I suspect it is safe).

2. Run the Emoji Free! app and follow the directions provided carefully.

Once you are done and have restarted your phone as directed by the app, you will have access to the Emoji keyboard. Beats me why Apple did not make it more readily available but there you go......


mkel1966 - Thanks a lot for bringing this up! Those little icons are definitely useful in the tune's Notes field.

As always, if you have any additional requests please let me know. If you can get them to me before noon PST tomorrow I will include them in v1.03.
 
im really excited to try this app. i just purchased a ipod touch just so i can get my hands on this. I hope you can eventually release on android so i can sell the ipod!

Hello... I need a setup for the Camaro LM Race Car. All tuned allowed but the limit is 600 LP.
I bye the app but this car is not in the list. :embarrassed:( hmmm ist it possible to take another car maybee with the same tune facts to build a setup for the Camaro LM Race Car.
One setup for 24 h Nürburgring and one setup for Rom.

Version 1.03 has been submitted to Apple for review. Again, we can probably expect review and release about 8-9 days from now. I added some more cars since I last provided the link above, so this update will bring the total to over 600 cars supported. The rest will follow asap.

I was just checking out your site on my iPhone. Do you have a link to a demo video on the site? I didn't see it. Do you have a Facebook page setup for the app?

Any chance we can get you to make a video highlighting the updates when you create new updates? It will help stir interest, as there will be more videos showcasing the app that can be shared on Facebook & Twitter :)

A lot of people are having issues with the new Lambo Seasonals. Some super skilled drivers are forcing themselves to run on Sport Hards for the challenge. While other skilled drivers are just super frustrated. The Nurburgring event is the one in particular.

Can GTune 5 tame the Bulls on The Ring?

That's definitely part of the plan for new features as they are released. So far the updates have been bug fixes and additional car support.

I haven't had the chance to try that seasonal yet, but now that I know it's tough and involves the Ring, I'll be all over it :) Have you tried the Lambo sample tune from the app yet? You can use inTune to transfer it to other Lambos too.

I still haven't been able to buy the app yet. The Keeper of the Cash (Wifey Pooh) isn't allowing unnecessary spending at the moment. I do intend to support you by purchasing the app.

A quick update on the remaining standard car support: Grabbing the data for all remaining cars was getting to be too much of a distraction from feature development, in particular the transmission tuner, so I decided to just make one huge push and over the past several days (and nights) I have completed the car database. Well, almost ;) I now have 1076 cars ready to go for version 1.04.
The only problem is that number needs to be 1079 :( This is where I need your help. I desperately need to get my hands on the following cars:

Toyota 2000GT '67
Honda Gathers Drider Civic Race Car '98
TRD Celica TRD Sports M (ZZT231) '00

I have used the UCD rotation search to see when they will come up in my dealership but the closest one is 800 days away and the TRD doesn't even show up!

I actually already have the Toyota and TRD but they both have irreversible mods and I need them to be stock. I know the Toyota and TRD are below the million credit gift limit but I don't know about the Honda. If you have any of these cars and you don't mind gifting or sharing them please let me know. In any case, version 1.04 will have at least 1076 cars supported :D

Now I'm gonna go hide and whimper for a while until some brain cells grow back :dopey:

I need to buy a new phone as my present one is dying. I was wondering what phone I need in order to use this app. Isn't it just an iPhone. Sorry, been using a cheap fip phone for the last 8 years so I'm kinda out of the loop as far as phones go, lol. Just wondering what exactly I need. Thanks.

Any iDevice (iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone). iPhone 5 is being announced next week. I would not buy anything until it is announced, if you can hold off. I'm still using a 32gb 3Gs. We bought my daughter an 8gb 3GS for $9 in 2011 (contract of course)

My Civic has the Chassis Reinforcement, no other perma-mods

Thanks Dave. I was in the Verizon store yesterday and they had two iPhones there. One for $149.00 and one for $99.00. They both had a 2 gig data plan for $79.00. Does that sound like what I need. Like I said, not very phone savvy at this point, lol. You know, I'm a low tech man livin' in a high tech world, lol.

I agree - definitely wait until the iPhone 5 announcement next week. Even if you don't choose to get the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S will likely be reduced in price. You can use the app on any iPhone or iPod Touch that is capable of running iOS 4.x or higher, but I recommend an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 if possible. The extra CPU power in those devices make the menus and overall app experience much faster.

That's awesome, just saw your note about the TRD too - thanks a lot Dave! Just send me a FR at BadManTurismo and we can go from there. Very much appreciated! There's no rush - I won't be able to submit 1.04 for at least a few more days since I'm still waiting for 1.03 to be reviewed by Apple.
 
Mitch, check Verizon's website. The AT&T site always has better deals than stores do.

My wife's iPhone 4 has a 2gb plan for $25. So does my daughters phone for that matter.

Wow, ok, thats some handy advice. Thanks much Dave. Will do some shopping around tomorrow then. The store I was at did say I would get a better deal if I went to a corporate store in Ann Arbor or Toledo, Ohio. I'm kinda in the middle of each of them now. Recently moved to Irish Hills area. Anyway, thanks for the tips guys, you've been very helpful.
