PWTS Pre-production started
Submitted by Thomas on Wed, 05/13/2009 - 23:47.

We just started the pre-production of the 911 Turbo S wheel.

It took a little bit longer than expected but Microsoft wanted us to support a new feature for Forza 2.

The wheel will be shown at the E3 on June 2nd in Los Angeles and we
will also send the first units to customers and testers soon.

We made it possible to fully flash the electronics
so we can add new features or solve bugs if there were some we did
not find yet.

New feature that delayed the wheel?

Forza 2, or typo meant to say 3?

Either way...

DAMN I want this wheel!

I dunno how some of you have waited for months upon months, as just one month is killing me (One month after paying anyway. There were plenty of months waiting to get the $$$). I feel so dirty touching the MS wheel now.

I don't know exactly what "pre" production means, but it is now oh so much closer to actually being real. :)

Cool great news. I got the RS wheel cheaper.. so I wont be playing FM3 with new Porsche wheel.. oh well

But I think pre-production wheel means they will build many wheels for testing purposes as well send them to the testers that apply for it. So I think it's going to be out within Forza 3 release date.. End of this year.

Hello Guys,

First excuse my english cause i am french (sorry).

As many of you, I am interested in the steering wheel GT3 RS.

When I see the periods of wait to receive your steering wheels while you already have to pay, I have many questions on the reliability of Fanatec.

How happens that the steering wheel is not available on the official webshop Porsche (this brand is very careful with his license) as it is the case for the steering wheel T.Master at the official webshop Ferrari ?

How is made that is the CEO personally which answers your questions and which animates the blog of Fanatec ? Is it his role ?

How is made that I find no recent information on Endor AG company ?

How is made that Fanatec is not measure to tracking its shippings ?

I was going to place an order but I hav more and more septicisum about Fanatec.

The Fanatec Porsche Wheel is the only product officially licensed by Porsche outside of the Porsche products lineup.

I have personally talked to Thomas (CEO of Fanatec (Endor AG)), but most of the time I have been talking with another representative.

How is made that I find no recent information on Endor AG company ?

???

I did a Google search for "Endor AG" and was literally stumbling over information.

Not sure about this one. Although, in my experience most companies I have bought peripherals from online, have not given tracking numbers.

I was going to place an order but I have more and more skepticism about Fanatec.

If you're unsure, wait until June/July when they are officially released to the public.

This is a big release. Every pre-release of this magnitude has some hiccups along the way. Once they are released you should have no trouble getting information.

;)

I'm looking forward to seeing some GTP user reviews on the GT3RS and CS pedals in the following weeks. I'm waiting to order based off that feedback. I guess I shouldn't be in a rush since Fanatec's site states they are out of stock until July. I am also waiting to see if logitech is going to reveal a new wheel/pedal set next month at E3. I have my heart set on getting a VR3 later this year (to replace my playseat evo) and I'm a little worried if I can make it work with the GT3RS. If logitech has something new I may go that route so I know it will fit. The DFGT and playseat have been fun but its time to upgrade.

Regards the Fanatec announcement, Thomas has fixed "Forza 3" to Forza 2.
Maybe it was a tease, but i think he has discovered its spread like wild fire (even Kotaku) reported it on their news. This definately said Forza 3 last night.

The reason, well Forza 3 hasnt been even confirmed yet (even though we all know its coming)

Why would Forza 2 need a new feature, and what would that feature be? I assumed this was Forza 3 and that it will support "Clutch" with also being 900 degrees, somethings the official wheel doesnt support.

I suppose in a way a bit like the current Logitech situation with the official GT wheel not having clutch neither, yet other wheels will support it as the game has it included.

Anyways we will know in a few weeks.

Wheel should clamp on okay but the CS pedals are too wide to fit on the base plate of the VR3. You would need to modify your VR3 as its soley intended for the G25.

So its around NOON in the US (east) and the 15th. Anyone got any email about US delivery? Fanatec mentioned around the 14th their US distributor should have their delivery from China and start to send it out to individual customers from there. Any info on that yet?

UK here, and no emails to state if the 1st batch delivery from China has cleared customs or about processing of individual orders yet.

I would assume Thomas will make a post to state when the first batches begin to ship out guys.

I reckon it could be End of May before people start getting them...

Both shipments arrived but wheels are still in customs clearance. It will still take some time but we will ship it on the same day we get them.

Thank you for your answer. I am waiting a review from the GTP drivers before buy this steering wheel.

Well, when I receive mine in July (Turbo S), I will be writing a full review of it's features and functionality. So stay tuned.

Unless you want the GT3RS wheel, in which case I'm sure there will be reviews out sooner from other GTP members.

;)

For all the Drifters there

I think it's cool, no longer you have to play with wheel strength settings or what not. Great idea!

I'll write my review on GT3 RS and ClubSport and shifters (since I bought them separately) But don't expect high level of journalism skills ;)
I think someone or me will create the FANATEC review thread just for revies so it's easier to find by other GTP members, as well google searchers.

i am looking forward for your reviews, cause i have been thinking or changing my g25 and x360 MS wheel for turbo s.

Even though I don't have much experience with sim wheels, I'll attempt to review my GT3RS as well, or atleast fill you all in on things you should know.

"Tomorrow the first wheels will arrive depending on where the customer is located.

We ship from California and Germany."

Wow! This is the best news I've heard yet! I may get my wheel as early as tommorow, being that I live in California :) Hopefully everything goes according to plan 👍

Definitely will mate 👍 I've only used a controller up to this point so it may be a bit hard to justify my TT comparisons though. Either way, I sure hope to improve by a fair margin :) I'll be doing a full review of the wheel on the day I get it :)

Good news, I live in Pennsylvania, that is other side of the USA, So it will be bit longer till I get my wheel, pedals, and shifters, So hopefully by next week.

So anyone got any EMAIL that ordered RS and Clubsport pedals?
When I sing in the WEB SHOP, my still says processing. And I did not receive any email now that its send out..
Also will we get a tracking number? Is it UPS or Fedex for the US delivery?

So you have Vista 64? I think I've seen some post there that someone had the Windows 7 beta 64 edition and it worked fine or something like that, try that?
So i read the version is for Porsche wheels as well the ClubSport, but the RS wheel will have different driver?

Also any news on the Vibration ABS features?

unsigned drivers can be made to work in vista and windows 7 by using dseo with the 056 drivers. i was trying the 088 beta drivers and they're just not working ingame for me. I don't have the clubsport pedals, but there is an option to enable brake vibration mode when the brakes lock. Also, i can set the wheel to vibrate when the brake locks. and make the LED display things like gear, speed, etc.

Sounds cool, is it for particular game like rFactor only? Or does it work with GTR Evo, iRacing, etc etc. the features you mention.

Gabkicks, did you order the new CS pedals? If you did, I wonder if you got email from fanatec that they send out the orders to customers..

Hey plenty of time for GT5 game to save up ;)
But I hear even the Standard pedals are very nice.

Also I am very happy.
Today I received email from Fanatec that they will send it out, and I could get it up to one week.

YAY!
