Also seems like we will get BLACK pedal shifters rather then shiny silver, its good because it will match the wheel.

Think you meant "Paddle Shifters"
I have emailed Thomas directly over the matter for clarification.
To me the black are much more basic and a downgrade, they are also not the nice finger hugging shape as illustrated in CS Paddles.

This product is advertised with "Silver Aluminium/Stainless Steel Paddle Shifters"
The Original "Comparison Chart" also states it comes with "Stainless Steel shifters"

The comparison chart does indicate the following:
"Note: All features are subject to change"

comparisongt3rs.jpg

However the product listing does not clearly state that the "Aluminium/Silver Shifters" are optional. They also are not even listed as recommended products.
And finally they have dissapeared from the website as a possible purchase item, but used to be their.

I can only assume this means they come as standard and........
Soooooo i assume Virtual R have perhaps shown photos of "NON RETAIL" but "BETA" version of the wheel or indeed "Basic Black" is what we are getting...

I will update on GTF when/If Thomas replies but if not we will soon know when everyones orders arrive.

Oh on a good note the "Brake" pedal now includes a spring "as requested by SRT"
Ive asked Thomas for clarification on this also.

Brake pedal, or Gas Pedal?

SRT complained quite a bit about the gas pedal. Didn't hear them mention the brakes as being a major problem.

;)

I can clear that up for you even though I don't have mine yet. I speak german and have been following that threat over there and when asked the same question about the aluminum shift paddles the user answered that he took the pictures before he mounted the aluminum paddles. The black things you see there are just the mounting points for the aluminum pieces, I guess you could use those as your paddles if you feel constricted by the aluminum paddles which won't allow you to grab around the wheel all the way on the sides.

they only complained about the normal pedals, not the CST ones, right? the gas pedal that comes w/ the turbo wheel is very light and requires almost no pressure to press down. the brake requires much more pressure and has less travel, and the clutch is somewhere inbetween as far as pressure.

Some people have gotten their wheels. some have gotten them without the pedals. Here's what Darin Gangi said.

Darin Gangi from SRT
My recommended settings for iracing are.

Wheel FFB 100
In game 5-8 depending on car
Dampening OFF / 0
"Drift mode" 5 or I think 7 or 8 felt good too.. I don't like the heavier dampening.
Center spring unchecked (I haven't tried it with drift mode yet)
Degrees of rotation - I liked 360 for the spec..

I also noticed that if you have problems with the beta driver not picking up the "drift mode' or going back to full dampening.. Just open up the control panel in windows and hit the FF effect button and it puts it back in drift mode.

For the pedals.. I short calibrated the brake and I also have mine attached on the second hole going up the pedal versus the stock bottom hole.. I found that the bottom hole feels like it's "binding" , but on the second hole, feels smooth but with less throw.. Which makes for a stiffer, more realistic feeling brake..IMO.. I also have the big potentiometer turned all the way right and DO NOT TOUCH the blue pot ! Make sure it is at full (I think) clock wise and stays there.

You have to take the pedals apart to get them in that second hole.. but to me it's worth it.. If you look at the Gas and clutch, they are in the second holes already..

For rfactor and other sims that use windows calibration, I used DI View, or you can use DX tweak to get your brake values where you want them.. In my review I will go in to detail on it..

One more thing..if you feel like your brake has too much deadzone when you first push the pedal, that can be changed with a simple firmware upgrade. I believe Thomas is going to make those accessible per what I translated from the German forum..

Hope you guys like your stuff.. Should be to you today on the west coast..

Since we didn't have time to do our video review.. There's more on the wheel and pedals for you new owners and future owners.

Oh..one other thing.. If you use the pedals plugged in on their own.. They have 1023 bits of resoultion.. If you plug them into the wheel (with the black/green svideo looking cable) you only get 255..

I also think iRacing calibration was kicking the drift mode off.. If it does, just calibrate in iRacing, exit, go to control panel FF effect and then back to iracing and it should be good..

They may of mentioned about the gas but also gonna have to correct you as I think youll find my memory isnt that bad

I was certain they mentioned something about the brake only having a rubber load sensative type damper. They said they suggested to Thomas that a spring should be used like the clutch and gas used which would also give it a bit more pedal response.

Also VirtualR photos clearly show a spare spring which id assume is possibly a stiffer spring for an option on the brake or throttle but im guessing?

Ahh, I see. I never noticed the brake didn't have a spring on the Clubsport pedals. Good to know they will now. Hopefully they fixed the standard pedals as well, as SRT was pretty vocal about it as an issue.

The silver paddles were not ergonomic as you cannot get your fingers between the wheel rim and the paddles so we decided to use a different style. The black finish also looks better and fits to the style of the wheel.

Thanks Fanatec:

So have they also been discontinued (used to be sold seperate also) and to be replaced by the new "painted black aluminium" paddles for Core Purchasers or are the black going on all wheels now including Turbo S?

Recommend you guys PLEASE update the website/product page and comparison chart to avoid further confusion with customers.
PS nice to know you continually updated the product along the development/manufacturing periods.

Interesting...

So, the paddle shifters that are coming with the Turbo S wheels are also going to be the new smaller black paddles? I kind of liked the idea of a stainless steel shifter, but if the new design is more ergonomical than I'm all for it.

Hold on, they havnt confirmed that, im just asking is all....
The older shape silver ones no longer feature on the site.

im assuming these new black ones "painted aluminium" MIGHT replace the older ones but they could be black on GT3RS and silver on the Turbo S to colour match just that they are the new shape.

Thomas has told me:
"The black paddle shifters are aluminum. We just painted them because it fits better to the style of the wheel. They are also much more ergonomic than the shape we originally used. You can ask Darin Gangi of SRT what he prefers."

Well, either way is fine really. As long as they are still metal, and not plastic, I'm fine. Would be nice to have natural silver alluminum paddles for the Turbo S users though.

I'm sure you could remove the paint with a light mild gentle sand.....mmm 2000+ grit wet and dry sandpaper. OR a "small" amount of solvent on a soft open weave cloth.

Yeah Seems there is a new driver. Seems close to be a 1.0.0 :) I hope it will work fine!

Oh man and I am still waiting for my wheel, pedals and shifters!

To Fanatec

Hey, I ordered my Turbo S wheel (compatible with 360, pc, and ps3) and the order went to canceled. I don't understand why as my paypal payment went through fine. I am freaking out because I really want this wheel and hope you are not taking my money without delivering a product.

My GT3 RS Wheel with CSP is at home, but got some issues.....The on/off button is stuck,i can't turn off the wheel.....The calibrates process is not good,no centering,i have tryed pressing the main button, left d-pad and start but does not work....And is not working on Gran-Turismo prologue, not either the wheel and CSP......Plus i found some "oil" in clubsports package.....:nervous:

i got the 0_90 driver 32 bit installed....

Mine arrived at work.....

gt3rsarrived.jpg

I hope it has no problems, unfortunate for you man, gutted for you. Ill be devestated if this isnt working...
Im gonna be very upset if this wheel doesnt work with GT5 out of the box so kinda hoping your wheel is at fault.
Also think if this is the case Thomas or other fanatec people should of made it clear when they were doing their development or beta testing...

Yes PS3 support isnt guranteed but come on like GT5(P) if any game is going to help sales over Logitech its this one...

Personally i will consider selling mine if a driver/support is not forth coming soon for PS3/GT5 if indeed it becomes the case that it doesnt work.
Can anyone confirm otherwise?

did you follow the instructions to switch to ps2/ps3 mode? sorry to hear u guys are having problems. I am still waiting for replay from tech support. Been 3 days now.

I was scheduled to do a 2 hour race on the 5th, but i may miss it if theydont send me a replacement before then :(

ahh, the GT3 wheel doesnt come with a manual? the commands to change to ps2/ps3 mode should be the same. you press the big white button at the base and the select button at the same time, i think.

Have you got it to work with ANY other PS3 game even?
Its odd that Turbo S would work and this not on PS3 as technically id of thought they were identical

Wow, I'm going to be extremely heated if this wheel ends up not working with GT5P :irked::mad: Thomas previously said in this thread that the wheel WOULD work for GT5P, so if it doesn't, we have reason to be quite upset :yuck: I've been waiting nearly half a year for this thing...that's not the news I wanted to hear this far along  FXCK!

And where the hell is my wheel already! It's already been 8 days since FANATEC supposedly shipped the wheels out from their California distribution center. I live in California as well and don't understand how it could possibly take this long to deliver the wheel...? What are they using "by foot" delivery? My wheel should have been here by last Friday...I guess that's just another broken promise...big deal
