Meaning that you liked the GT2 more after going back to the G27? I think once I get a shifter for the GT2 and dial in the wheel settings there's a chance that may happen, but not sure yet. Definitely happy with my purchase so far though. đź‘Ť

I've been waiting to hear more about the new shifter, but for only $30 Im considering just picking up the standard shifters for now. Are they worth it?

I meant that after using the GT2 the G27 felt a lot more toy like and hollow.

Still like my G27 though and the paddles are excellent design.

I have the standard shifter set and I must say I prefer the G27 gear box.

But for the immersion value I would say yes the Fanatec shifter are worth getting. They are growing on me and I would say that the feel may be more realistic on resistance through the gears but finding reverse fir me seems a bit hit or miss.
The clacking sound may put some off though.

Looks like my wheel will be here today. Ordered 5/11/11, received shipping email on 6/14/11, actually shipped by UPS on 6/16/11. I ordered the shifter set and the wheel, for some reason they got split into 2 packages. UPS delivered my shifter set yesterday, but the wheel will be here tonight (according to UPS) :)
Perfect timing, I'm finally finishing up my Simul8r-based cockpit, that will be a good test!

I had the same feeling with the PWTS vs G25. The Fanatec wheel didn't make me any faster and the FFB effects were dampened a bit. After getting used to the PWTS and then playing with the G25 again after taking a break, I really appreciated how much smoother and more realistic the PWTS felt. Again, you can be just as fast with a Logitech G25 or G27, but the PWTS feels a lot nicer. EDIT: Also, I can never go back to a wheel without on the fly adjustability.

The ClubSport pedals did make me faster though. I recommend them to any serious driving enthusiast, or at the very least, look into brake mods for your G series pedals.

As for the standard shifters, they feel hollow and cheap, but they do work really well. Very positive shift action, but the plastic clacking noises can get annoying. I'm too lazy to mod my shifter though. Worth $30, not worth their original $50 asking price.

I am playing sims with an wheel for over 3 years now but with the CSP pedals (3 months old) I learned braking! Before I was only braking full... ((still) playing always in any game with ABS )

Well, got my GT2 yesterday, so far things work great on all 3 platforms. After about 5 hours of use here are my first impressions:

FFB: smoother than the G25 (probably because I don't feel the gears when turning the wheel), wouldn't say it's any stronger though. The FFB feels way overdampened on all platforms though, even after turning the dampening down to zero (on the PC) and -3 (PS3/Xbox). I hope the wheel will loosen up a bit, it seems like it is still hard to turn even when turned off. Best test that illustrates the overdampening to me is hitting a patch of ice in a game. Where the steering on the G25 and my old ACT Labs Force RS goes "limp" like it would in a real car, the GT2 still has a ton of resistance as if the surface hasn't changed at all.

Shifters: The paddles and the h-shifter are horrible on the GT2, that's about the nicest way I can say it. Paddles are mushy with no positive "click" or feedback to them, I accidentally downshifted several gears down when playing FM3, same with GTR2. The h-shifter feels like it belongs in a 5 year olds pedal car, not a race car or a sim for that matter. The detent is good, but the shifter feel is vague with no positive feel when going between 2-3, 4-5 and putting the shifter in reverse is just hideous. And yes, I build and race cars, so I know what a proper race shifter (or even a good street car shifter) feels like. The Fanatec shifter feels like the crappy shifter I had in my Renault Fuego Turbo 20 years ago.

I actually like the metal G25 steering wheel center better than the plastic toy like look and feel of the GT2. The Alcantara wheel rim on the GT2 is nicer though.

The on the fly adjustments and the button illumination on the GT2 are a huge bonus over the G25. They definitely make life easier.

Overall I think if I did not need the 360 support I would probably stick with the G25. Don't get me wrong, I like the GT2. I'm just not sure that I like it enough to justify the $320 I spent on the whel and shifter set.

Just my .02

Overall

I'd suggest trying drift mode 2-4, I find in most software that loosens the wheel up quite nicely without damping the ffb.

Please allow me to ask something off-topic; is it normal the wheel be very hot after an hour of use? How many time can it be on with continuous force feedback (the manual says 1 hour)?

All depends Jose. If you run 100FF, then yes, it will get hot rather quickly. You run lower and more realistic 30-40, not so much. I have gone hours in a row on iRacing without any issue. But, I primarily keep FF down due to the bumps in the tracks.

Wish I knew more. I noticed the higher the FF, the hotter it got. But at 100FF, it is NOT realistic IMHO. 30-40 is almost pure. I race some sprints and late models, both dirt and macadam/asphalt.

Btw,The only time I have had issues with my FF is with Nascar09 for the 360. But, this is likely due to the GT2 not being an "officially" supported wheel. Kicks on and off randomly. Other than that, just from time to time, the first time I try and connect with the 360, nothing happens, but a simple power off/on works.

I ordered (GT2 + Clubsport) on January 5th, I knew they were on back order. 2 weeks ago I sent a polite email asking when my order will ship, in return I received a polite email stating it will be in May.

Ok left, now you are the one making erroneous statements. You said in your more recent posts you ordered back in December when it stated 1-2 weeks, Now I find this post of yours stating you ordered Jan 5th. So which is it. I smell a troll.......... BUT, you should have received your wheel by now, I will give you that.

Call me what you want, say what you want, but you are making 2 completely different accusations on Fanatec here. If it was december, why would you say this on April 15th, huh? And then refuse my or Thomas' help? Just sayin..... I'm not the one with 2 stories here, you are.... https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/search.php?searchid=4776272&pp=25&page=2 toward the bottom is your post on April 15th with the quote above.

@AGP5000, thanks for the tip. Now it does not "boil" so quickly (to what the summer high temperatures contributed too).

I got my GT2 yesterday but didn't have time to open it before I had to go to work....I'll be trying it out shortly.

I'll go ahead and jump into my first post here, as I checked out the forums based on my research for getting my first wheel. My 360 died a bit ago so I've been all GT5 lately - because of that, when I saw the GT3 Clubsport package back for sale that made the decision for me.

Ordered Sunday night (the 19th), still waiting for shipping. Only today realized that the shifters didn't come in the package so I ordered them this morning - sent a message through asking to put it all together to cut costs on shipping (almost doubles the price for the shifters for me with separate shipping), hopefully I can get a refund on that. Thomas (Fanatec...), if you're watching, is that something that's possible?

So yeah, I have nothing to compare to, no allegiance to Logitech in any way, don't have close friends with a wheel (never even tried one before), so I'm rather excited to crack into this one. :)

This is
A Bad
Day
For your Opponents.

I liked the box almost as much as the wheel. :dopey:

Became my GT2 today *yippieee* :D

First impression: The wheel looks used. There were scratches on the sides where you put in the usb cable and the paddles... The Porsche logo looks also a bit scratched... The buttons are softer to push than the GT3RSV2, maybe too soft?? They feel broken but work perfectly... Also I only need them for the menu so no problem...

For some reason I love my GT3 more... Maybe I need more time to get warm with the GT2...

But then, the big moment came!! Forza3 is a completely new game with wheel!!!! I really hate to play racing games with an controller and my 20hrs with FM3 were a weak experience (in comparison, more than 100 hrs with GT5 and my GT3 wheel).

FM3 physics are completely different now! I feel home now! I feel when I loose the car, I feel understeer and oversteer, everything is fine now!

For some reason I miss the "center" function of the wheel that I know from GT5... Maybe I need to play with the settings (took the same settings as from my GT3)... I love it when the wheel centers if you take your hands off the wheel and in FM3 or the GT2 it keeps on the same position when you put your hands off..

Unfortunately I played only 10 minutes, so it were only my first short impressions... I got to go to the city now but I cant wait till tonight, will play the hell out of the wheel, will also check the wheel with GT5...

Anybody got the perfect settings for FM3, GT5 or better general settings for the GT2??

Just placed my order with Fanatec USA last night. Gt2 with clubsport pedals and shifters. Hopefully i dont get any of the crazy delays i've read about on here. Now i need to figure out how/where i am going to mount this thing.

Think about getting a wheelstandpro. That is what I use for my GT2 and Clubsport pedals. It works just fine with a little modifying.

I am considering the wheel stand pro, which one did you order and what kind of modding are you talking?

On a side note I just got an email saying "Your order <insert order number> will be shipped now!"

Do they send any kind of tracking info? Didnt see it in that email.

Thanks

I ordered the Rennsport V2 for my GT2 and Clubsport pedals, but I just got the shipping now email this morning. There wasn't a tracking number in my email either.

I had a issue with my shipping address and Thomas and his crew got it fixed accordingly, so thanks again if you are reading Thomas. If my setup gets here by the end of next week I will be a happy camper. đź‘Ť

Tracking info comes in a separate email from UPS. You will only see 1 tracking number, but there are more pckgs if you ordered them included, just look for them. Should receive it within 48hrs of the "shipping now" email.

Good to know. Thanks for the info guys.

Just got the tracking info, says it should be here Thursday June 30th. I really hope there are no delays. It would be perfect timing before the long holiday weekend.

Still trying to figure the mount, i've been going thru the "cheap cockpit" thread. The GF doesnt want something that will be huge and look goofy in the living room, so im thinking that Ikea chair with some type of removeable table top will be the route I go.
