Another Fanatec wheel arrives!

I have a problem. I have just finished building my frist gaming pc, and couldn't wait to get into iracing. I hook it up and get into my first practice run and I'm blown away at how much better the FF is then on any console game I have ever played. After the first few runs though the weight of the wheel just keeps getting heavier, and heavier. And now it's so hard to turn in game, even when the car is just setting there that the FF motors whine. It's like the motors are constantly putting as much tension on the wheel as they can to keep me from turning it.
Plus everytime I boot up the Computer the fanatec software sets the wheel back to 400 degrees. It seems like if I turn on the wheel befoer I get in the game it works alright for a few minutes but then it just keeps getting harder and harder to turn, and the FF just gets drowned out by the weight of the steering,

Any ideas on what the problem could be?
I'm using windows 64 bit.

The first thing I always try to do in such cases is the classic Windows driver uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes it also helps to plug the USB device into another USB port so that Windows re-detects it.

Neither one worked. It's also having the same problem on my consoles. It sure would be nice if there was a support line to call to get help with the fanatec products. My next wheel will either be a Frex or logitech I'm really tired of the lack of cutomer support that Fanatec offers. No one wants to wait a week to get an email reply. In this day and age it should be 24 hour customer support like 90% of the other electronic companies provide.

Hey 12thgear and ceth I've seen you on Thomas blog and I have a question. Thomas posted, "3. The Audi wheel was connected to the CSW (not CSR E) with a quick release"

So I guess the quick release won't be on the uber-tech Elite base. Surely I'm mistaken ?

Here's my understanding of the upcoming Fanatec wheels:

The CSR wheel works on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Pricing is around $320 with some form of pedals. It has a base that looks similar to the one used on the PWT, PWTS, GT3 RS, and GT2. I imagine the electronics will be similar to those in the GT2, but probably tweaked and subtly improved. The wheel rim is is a mix of painted plastic and rubber, with Alcantara inserts. The face is aluminum.

The CSR Elite wheel works on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Pricing is around $700 with CSR Elite pedals (or maybe ClubSport pedals?). The base is all new, with entirely new internals, featuring a beefy belt and a worm gear. The optical sensor is decoupled from the motor, for the highest precision. The wheel rim is is a mix of painted plastic and rubber, with Alcantara inserts. The face is carbon fiber.

The CSW works on PC and PS3 only. Pricing is expected to be similar to CSR Elite. The base is all new, with entirely new internals, featuring a beefy belt and a worm gear. The optical sensor is decoupled from the motor, for the highest precision. We have not seen the wheel that comes on the CSW yet, but we have seen a Formula 1 prototype. This hub offers a quick release for interchangeable wheels.

I gotta admit, the interchangeable wheels sound awesome, but I don't want to give up Xbox 360 compatibility, so I'll probably go for the CSR Elite. It's too bad I'll have to choose one or the other. Life is all about sacrifices though. :sly:

A perfect summary 👍

Thanks guys I was curious what it would be like to play Burnout Paradise with a wheel.

You should try to PM Fanatec as well if possible. Good luck 👍

left888, do you do anything on GTP other than complain about Fanatec? You've a right to be upset if you've been waiting forever for support/orders, but jeez man, we get it.

Hi guys, I've just ordered and payed a GT2 wheel from Fanatec and I wonder if you can tell me how much I have to wait untill I can hold it in my hands :) Is there any average shipping time nowadays?

I didn't get any response from Fanatec yet, what makes me a bit nervous, is this normal? Thanks for the answers forwardly

It's normal for Fanatec not to respond straight away.

Waiting times vary from a long time to a short time.

Not very good answers I know.

Recently however I have read of shipping times being around a week.
Hopefully they are getting there act together.

Thanks.

Doesn't sound so good, but I believe in the guys at Fanatec 👍
Fingercross, and hope they will show up soon and send me a mail about the shipping, or at least about they've get my order.. :sly:

Thanks for this. I was wondering so much about it.
So you have to choose between being able to switch wheel or 360 compatibility, tough choice.

Last night I thought that maybe if I reflashed the firmware it would help. I tried to do it, but on the second step it says I need the usb driver. When I go to the usb driver folder it is empty. How do I install the usb driver? I have version 681, but thought that maybe reinstalling might fix my problem.

Thanks.

from my experience, if its in stock, about a week. If its not, then thats when it takes longer. But i believe everything is in stock right now.

When I'm home, I'll take a look at my software as I don't remember specifics. I'm running Windows 7 and I did have to run the firmware updater in XP compatibility mode as admin.

Received mine in 5 business days. 👍

Well, that is a time frame what Is allowed wheen a manufacturer has to ship their product to an other country. 👍 I hope I'll get a fully working wheel because I've read a lot of posts about people get a new wheel what is not working, or working but not perfectly. I try to think positive :sly:

And yesterday I've decided to order the Clubsport pedals too. I didn't want to spend money on it as I've got a DIY modded G25 pedal, but after I've read after that product it was really easy to make this decision. What do you guys say? Is there a really big difference between tthe G25's pedal and the clubsport? Does it worth to spend 200EUR on it?

Just reading the manual of the wheel:
"The maximum operation time of the wheel with continuous
Force feedback activity is 1 hour"
what a joke :)

Why are you buying one ? You sound like left888 almost. :ouch:

5 days? Thats really, really quick. Last time I ordered something online it took 2 weeks. I'm still waiting to order my Fanatec. Just haven't got the money yet.

Well I got my firmware reinstalled and it didn't fix anything. Hopefully I hear from Fanatec soon. Left Thomas a PM, and left a voicemail with their phone service. The
G27 is starting to sound very tempting.

Could I still use my clubsport pedals on the PC with the G27 and just sell my G27 pedals? And does anyone know if the playseat could handle a FREX wheel.?

You can connect the ClubSport pedals via USB and use them with the G27 wheel. The only gotcha is that some titles, such as Simbin games, only support a certain number of USB devices at once (I think 4 max), and depending on the order detected, may not see the wheel or pedals. I had to unplug my Logitech F13 keypad and F710 gamepad before I could use my GT2 and ClubSport pedals as independent USB devices.

My comment was not directed at you, do you get that?

I see. So this thread is only for gushing Fanatec. No problem 👍

But you think it's good to disparage someone who wants to get his order in time, or someone who's a bit afraid of the wheel what he had ordered will not work perfectly. There are too much negative posts what made me a bit nervous about it was a good decision to buy that wheel. But I've got no option, if I want a wheel what works with Xbox and PS3 too.
And yes, I don't think it's normal to use an relative expensive product only for 1 hour to be sure it will not be defected. Of course I hope everything will be OK (I also know this is only a user's manual, and in life there will be no problem if I use it for 2 or 3 hours), but I say this because there are too much negative post about the support and the costumer service.
No problem 👍

I can understand everything :sly:

And I'll post only positive things here

People are free to discuss what they choose, if you don't like it then don't comment.

That goes both ways. I'm also allowed to voice my concern to you, and I did. I'm not going to make it into a protracted argument, and I'm not looking to police your posts, so don't worry about that. I said my peace and you said yours.

I think you'll be all right Mohamu. The biggest nightmares dealing with Fanatec have been with preorders. They would often miss ship dates, sometimes by months. Since you're ordering in stock product, you should be fine.

I've heard stories of delays getting technical support too. My experience has been OK, getting responses within 2 business days, though sometimes I had to follow up. I don't know why they're so inconsistent, but supposedly they're working on implementing a CRM system and hopefully hiring adequate staff.
