Hello
Today my RS3 V2 wheel arrived. Great wheel.

I was playing prologue and I had some Problems on my PS3 Slim. A small window pop out It told me something with max USB support and wheel did not work for few seconds. It does not happen all the time, but it does happen from time to time while playing Prologue. It happens about 2 - 3 times an hour, and for 2 times the wheel did not work for few seconds when the message appears.

What is the Problem?

Im using ClubSports pedals as well.

I am also having trouble with the update. I can get the bootloader to do the pw1 file but it will not let me start the pw2.

I had exactly the same problem with the last firmware update, eventually I simply deleted the original download and started again for whatever reason it then worked first time, incidently by then (2 weeks) I didn't bother with stopping anti virus etc and it had no negative effect on its success but I must admit the experience has made me reticent to use the new firmware update but I know I will because of the fan option available, (My wheel seemed to run cool and consequently was quieter as the fan only kicked in occasionally) secondly I believe these updates are now the biggest advantage fanatec products have over logitech. I'm so glad the G27 wasn't xbox compatible now as I had originally hoped it would be as I believe my Turbo S to be the best wheel (in both value and features) at a mid market price. It literally keeps getting better and better...:)

I did some research about the USB MAX SUPPORT thingy, and it turns out im not alone. Some PS3s may have a weak USB connections. But I try agian last night, and almost all night I did not get the problem. I plug the wheel to different power source because last power source was from extension cable, this one is plugged directly to the wall, I really cant tell if that was the problem or not, or PS3 was glitch or not.

Basically so far so good.
But I was playing with the wheel as well turn on the PS3 Eye cam and it all work fine. I hope my PS3 Slim wont go brick on me.

To all the Fanatec + Clubsport users, which console are you using? PS3 Slim or Fat? As well upgraded HDD to faster RPM or not. Thanks

I never had that problem but a similar one.

My pseye hasn't it full resolution or something. The image is crispy, grainy because i use an extension.
Took a shorter usb extension cable and then it was better. Not excellent but better.

I have a slim 320gb
and a fatty with (60gb) 500gb 7200rpm

Never had this message. But it could come from extensions. That is a plausible explination.

I have just updated my Turbo S Wheel with the new 678 firmware and have tried F12010 on the PS3. It now feels like a different game, the FFB is awesome, in fact F12010 feels better on the PS3 now than the Xbox does :yuck: It's a shame the graphics and frame rate is poor on the PS3 though imo.

I think the guys over at http://www.insidesimracing.tv/ should install the new firmware and redo their review of the F1 game. I would love to hear their comments now 💡

Also regarding the new fan mod, it appears that both fans are toggled on and off, maybe Fanatec can confirm this. I put my ear close to the wheel and could not hear any of the fans.

Great job Thomas 👍

I just went SLIM (wish I could say the same for me :) ) haven't seen this issue on either my FAT or the SLIM Console to date.

Lets see if problem continues, if it does I will swich to old Fat PS3.

By the way The V2 wheel, next to power button on the side i see a lil plastic window, is that for the Fanatec wireless dongle? Will it work with PS3?

As well will the ClubSport work with USB to PS3? I don't want to unbolt them from cockpit just to find out, thanks.

The clubsport pedals only work through the PS2 connection on the wheel for the PS3. You can use the pedals and wheel separately on PC games though.

I think that was the problem I just had. I was using a long USB cable my brother gave me, Now I went back to the Fanatec USB cable that came with the wheel and seems problem is gone.

I hope it continues this way..

Man I think Sony should make the SLIM bit stronger with USB power. As well I wish they put two USB's in the back of the system. One for my PS3 EYE, and one for the wheel. :)

I have the 'fat' PS3 that was a MGS4/Bundle model. I also have a upgraded HDD but its the same RPM as the stock one.

I havent encountered the problem you seem to be having, but it looks like you got it figured out.

Big cache is more important to drive speed than rotation speed of the storage disk(s). I have a launch PAL fat with updated WD 160GB drive.

I can say for sure about the RS if it's wireless but with the TurboS you put the dongle into the ps3 or PC and the CSP via ps2 on the wheel and you have a wireless rig.

No the CSP don't work via usb on the ps3, only on pc they can be played separatly. Need to be connected to the wheel via usb

That's what you asked?

And yeah usb on the back of the ps3 would have been cool for proper cable management

I have the Fat PS3 with a 7200RPM HDD. The message you're getting is exactly max USB support or does it say something about power (like USB maximum power output reached)? I've had the maximum USB power message before when I had a short in one of my home-made controller.

Anyways, if you're having trouble with power or an extension cable, then I suggest you get a powered USB hub. Those things solve a lot of problem.

Also AFAIK the GT3RS V2 does not support wireless.

The problem so far is fixed. Two nights in a row after long Prologue plays with the wheel and not a single message anymore.

If it continues in the future, I may get a Powered USB hub. Thanks guys

I never could decide which wheel to get, the GT3RS or the G27. During my short absence, I finally bought the G27.

What exactly is this update? And so i need it for PS3 gameplay? Thanks, my GT3RS V2 will be here by tuesday, I want to be ready. :)

Well there is some fan control as people don't like their fans being at full blow all the time. For more information click here

Weird Sympton

Recently my PWTS on power up does nothing.
I can leave it for several minutes still turned on and then eventually it will come on.

I can use the wheel for several goes and this never happen again but then the next time I turn it on it might.

Checked
Plug fuse and cables for any breaks in wire, but none.
Has this been a problem for some others as I would like to try and determine if its the PSU or if its internal in the wheel.

Also sometimes while Idle I get a 2 second beep, well I thnk its the wheel making this?

That is tiricky to determine as you can measure voltages in every case from dc/dc converter. Contact support.

FW678 report:

Installed with x64 win7 works fine. Shifter needed calibration but wheel centering is ok unlike some have experienced. My wheel is turbo s.

The problem I have with all this fanatec kit is most people who buy it spend more time P##sing about altering everything from the wheel to the pedals, than actually racing.

When I get in an road car I'm not having to change how the wheel and pedals feel, It just feels wright out of the box.

I think there is something inherently wrong with a product when you have to constantly adjust it to get it to feel how it should.👎

You don't have to constantly adjust it.

When buying a car, you aren't buying the very first car you see. You look at a bunch of them. You try them out. You buy the one that feels good to you.

With steering wheels for games your choices are limited to a very few. The ability to adjust and customize is only there to give you more choices to fit your own personal preferences.

I was perfectly happy with my Turbo S and CS Pedals straight out of the box, and if there was never any other customization ability I would have been 100% fine with that. That being said, I still have found further enjoyment in it with the CS Table Clamp, because I was able to tilt the wheel to better suit me, and I was able to relocate the shifter to a more car like location with the included shifter mount.

.

Its the adjustability that drew me to the fanatec.

i have a DFGT and it only worked out of the box on 2 games, out of all the games that were released.

It was especially useless on battlefield :)

You clearly missunderstood something.

This is an excellent feature. And to my knowledge Fanatec is the only company that support the wheel so heavily after purchase.

I bought Shift a couple months ago, tried the game settings and didn't feel confortable with any of them.
Last week I played the game and changed the settings in the wheel itself, it's a completely new game to me! Now it's easy to put a good lap time.
The more time I use the fanatec pwts the more I like it.

You do not have to constantly adjust it :) When you don't wheel is as good as any logitec. But if you do not like, sell it and buy something you like.
