Weird Sympton

Recently my PWTS on power up does nothing.
I can leave it for several minutes still turned on and then eventually it will come on.

I can use the wheel for several goes and this never happen again but then the next time I turn it on it might.

I had a similar problem and asked Fanatec about it but never really got a reply. I am not sure if it was coincidence or not but I noticed that if the room was cold the wheel would take a few minuets to turn on. It hasn't happened all summer.

Might be problem with PSU as much lower temperature would make external load(the wheel) seem higher to PSU could loose it's operation point. (this is because buck converter control might be only set on specific load situation; no active current reference control)

Does wheel center calibration work after the update(678)? A lot of people are complaining about that in fanatec blog.

http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/4198&page=1

My Turbo S does centre correctly, however if I change the spring to "+1" or above it will slightly move to the left, if I put it back to "0" then it is centre again. This will only happen on the PS3 and not the 360.

On another note it would be great if Fanatec made this feature available for the Xbox 360 :sly:

Checked
Plug fuse and cables for any breaks in wire, but none.
Has this been a problem for some others as I would like to try and determine if its the PSU or if its internal in the wheel.

Also sometimes while Idle I get a 2 second beep, well I thnk its the wheel making this?

Are you using the Euro adapter that does the converting into 3 Pin for the UK ? If so perhaps bypass that and use a UK standard cable from the PSU, hope you get it working :)

The problem I have with all this fanatec kit is most people who buy it spend more time P##sing about altering everything from the wheel to the pedals, than actually racing.

When I get in an road car I'm not having to change how the wheel and pedals feel, It just feels wright out of the box.

I think there is something inherently wrong with a product when you have to constantly adjust it to get it to feel how it should.👎

Lol!!! even as a very happy, even smug, Fanatec owner I had to laugh at your comment but basically one size doesn't fit all otherwise we would all drive the same car wouldn't we.

As for adjusting the wheel I like the fact I can at least attempt to replicate the actualities of cars I doubt I will ever drive for real in terms of steering lock etc.

I will just have to keep P***ing about:)

Hi, don't know if relevant, but i have/ had the 2 to 3 pin adapter. Day back could hear it crackling, could even see it sparking, especially if moved only a bit etc etc, tried to bend one of pins, became a bit loose, still worked thou. Still crackling etc, so cut off 2pin & put on 3pin plug, used orig 3amp fuse in it. Now all OK. Don't know if it caused any prob while using wheel thou. Certainly wasn't making good contact & certainly wasn't looking good for long term use.

Cheers BOB

LOL, I must have missed this post, your first statement is a classic, good one

I'm trying to decide between the Carrera and the GT3 RS wheel. I will mostly use it for GT5 and maybe PC sims later. I plan to hook it up to the Rennsport stand. I haven't used the shifters and prefer using paddle shifters. If I get the GT3 I likely won't add the shifter, at least not initially. So I have some questions.

Judging just the wheel itself, which one is better? A recent reviewer stated he actually liked the feel of the Carrera better, but I've read others say that nothing beats the GT3 for feel.

If I'm not planning to use the clutch is there much point in getting the CS pedals. Right now I'm just using a plain logitech Driving Force wheel with the cheap plastic pedals. They basically have no feel at all to them. How do the standard pedals that come with the Carrera and GT3 compare to these pedals?

Is there any differences between the pedals that come with the Carrera and the GT3 standard. The website mentions ABS feedback, but is that with just the CS pedals are also with the standard GT3 pedals

Thanks for any help

Most everyone will prefer the feel of the GT3RS. Some people just like the feel of gears over belts. It's a preference thing, but I prefer the smoothness of the belt drive system in the GT3RS and PWTS.

The standard pedals have different levels of resistance to each pedal, (with the throttle being a bit too light in my opinion) The Clubsports main difference is the brake pedal (Load Cell) that reacts off of pressure rather than travel. This is what makes all the difference. Beyond that, the Clubsports are fully adjustable. If you are playing a game like F1 2010, you can remove the clutch pedal, and move the brake pedal over to the left for better foot placement and left-foot braking. If you are playing GT5, you can leave the clutch pedal, and move the brake pedal to the right for better heel-toe.

However, if you are happy enough with your current pedals, the standard pedals will feel like a big upgrade I'm sure. So, just go with what you feel you will need out of your pedals.

The only difference between them is how they are painted (or unpainted in the case of the PWC). Other than that they are identical. The ABS function is only for the CS Pedals.

;)

Erm..... yeah, I have recieved a minor problem with the clamp on my PWC, it's very loose and considerably.... er.. useless.

So what should I do, the CSTC ships mid-November but I want to race now!

I'll e-mail Fanatec support see if they can help. If you guys want, I'll keep you updated.

The standard clamp fits well if mounted correctly. Sometimes it gets stuck a little but please make sure that
1. you push in the clamp as close as possible to the tample as possible with no gap
2. Then tighten the big knob
3. and finally twist th two little paddles which apply tension to the clamp.

That keeps your wheel safe on the table.

BTW: I just released firmware 681 on my blog

When it was working, it was solid. Now at its hardest tightening, it is weak; if I shift or spin out, the wheel pops out from my table.

I currently have the Driving Force GT and the MS Racing Wheel. Placed an order yesterday for the Fanatec Turbo S and waiting for it to arrive. I liked the GT3RS Club Edition a bit better but I really want something that can work on both the PS3 and the XBox360 as I have both FM2 and 3 at the moment as well as GT5P.

The MS wheel is buggy and the shifters break easily. The DFGT is a decent wheel but the rumble feel is better on the MS Wheel. I am hoping that the Turbo S will blow them both out of the water in every category on both systems.

As to the FFB on the ABS from what I read this feature is not supported on game consoles and works only on certian PC games.

Did you get the Clubsports?

OK thanks for the new FW, I will test it out and give F12010 a good thrashing

I will report back with my findings.

Updated to the new FW and all is good, cannot notice much difference with F12010 though. Perhaps turning the wheel is slightly easier if the DPR setting is set to 3. Not sure though

Hey guys, tomorrow I would like to try iRacing again,
What are the Patches for latest ClubSport pedals? and latest patch for the wheel is Firmware 681 right? To download that firmware I do not need any previous ones?

Do i need those CS and RS V2 firmware updates to play iRacing? Or just using the Fanatec driver will be good enough.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

Just playd the iRacing. Awesome wheel! everything works fine. Never did the firmware updates to wheel or pedals and it works fine. So I dont think I need to so far.

The firmware updates are just optional to imporve the performance and give you more features. The basic compatibility is always there. Especially on PC.

Hi Fanatec!

I'm about to order the carrera wheel, but was wondering what the clamp size is. My tables 2 inches thick, about 52mm. Is the clamp big enough?

Thanks

I'm on this same boat.
I'm about to start building my new cockpit an would like to know if the wheel is 90* parallel to it's base? Or do I have to angle the wheel plate to get the center of the wheel parallel to the floor?

Im building a cockpit and yes you want the mounting surface angled. How much of an angle depends on you. But you still want the top of the wheel angled a little forward. At least that's how it is in my 2 240sx's and evo9.

Hey! Thank's for the info man! Been looking at diferent Fanatec setups and is true, you are right about having some angle with the wheel still looking up a bit.
Would anyone hapen to know what's the distance betwen the center of the wheel @ 90* respective to the base?(how toll is it from the base to the center of the wheel?)

Without taking a look at my gt3rs [Iphone] I'd say it's between 50 and 65 degrees from the horizontal mounting surface. I would just google images of the wheels mounted or side pics for a clearer picture.

Thank's again man! You're awsome!
The thing I'm missing right now is how tall is the center of the wheel(Fanatec Carrera) meassured from its base?
Anyone?

If you think about it the angle and the height of the wheel will be determined by your seating height, how big you are, how long your arms are, where you are comfortable, and then there are friends at different heights that might wanna try. If you take a look at the Low Budget cockpit build thread you will be able to find a ton of cockpits with adjustable tilt for the wheel. That's how I'm building mine. I'm 5'8" and majority of my friends are above 6 feet... just a thought

@ Fanatec:

I am planning to buy the Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Wheel.
When clicking on USA & Canada Buyers on your website, it seems to give only the price in US $ and for US only.

What is the total amount including shipping for H4J 1T1 (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) ?
