I got my Turbo S wheel a few days ago and have been giving it a go on the PS3, XBox 360 and the PC. I thought I read on the web site that the steering deadzone could be adjusted from the wheel but I do not see anything in the manual about this. Is this only on the GT3RS wheel or can it be done on the Turbo S as well?

The features of both wheels are identical, so yes you can. It may be the Firmware you have on your wheel may predate the adjustable deadzone feature being added. When I got my wheel, (ordered as a pre order) I think it was version 613 and it wasn't a feature. You will simply have to update your firmware version the most recent is 681, you will bring your Turbo S bang up to date.

Alternatively it may have this feature already but simply the manual is out of date. To check press your power button on, then before selecting a mode (PS3,XBox or PC) simply press the four lower buttons (on the horizontal steering wheel arms) together and this will then display what firmware your wheel has installed on the LED display.

If an older version is in place you will find the link to the latest one here http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/4349#comments

Hi, on Fanatec Forum, one guy as spoke to Fanatec support supposedly, might be a new FW coming, some peeps having issues with centreing with 681.

Cheers BOB

Looks like it is version 613 on mine.

Thanks for the info

On another note I am hearing two different noises from the wheel that are of concern to me.
1st as the wheel starts to get warm/hot I hear a high piched sound coming from inside the casing that is very annoying.
2nd a while later if I continue to drive I hear the fan kick in and it makes a sound as thought the fan blade is making contact with something internal, a wire perhaps or something along those lines?

1: It is likely the smaller fan, and it souds annoying. Replacing is an option.

2: Biger fan have had problems of hitting wires on some wheels.Contact fanatec.

Yes i noticed this with my wheel last night but only because i was playing with the sound low, usually i have the volume high enough to cover this noise so it's not a problem to me so long as it isn't a problem to the wheel :)

I don't have the 2nd sound issue you have but good luck with getting it sorted :dopey:

Hi, with last two FW updates you can turn Fan off ie temperature controlled, or on, with at least GT3rs v2 its on all the time then. So at least with GT3rs v2, you can take fan out of the picture, noise wise, or at least till wheel gets too hot.
Mind, wheel might sound diff with diff FW's as well ?

Cheers BOB

I do not think I could crank the sound up that loud. The wheel is close and in order to cover the sound I would think that the sound from the speakers would be picked up by the mic and annoy anyone I am racing with online. Also for some reason I am overly sensitive to high pitched sounds such as this. They usually trigger headaches within minutes.

If the little fan could be turned off and the bigger one used for cooling that might work but then the problem with the wires touching. For now I have just been pausing the game when the small fan kicks in and letting the thing cool down a bit.

Do the new firmware updates remove PS2 functionality?

Also, I'd love to get a set of clubsport pedals if they were distributed by someone else other than Fanatec, as their customer service is complete garbage.

Just bought a GT3 RS V2 with CS and Rennsport wheel stand. Can hardly wait. Now the wheel includes the shifter for 30$ more

I'm current using a logitech driving force wedged between my legs. This is going to be a huge upgrade for me.

I'm about to place an order for a Carrera wheel but have a few questions.

a) can I install the pedals included in a reverse position (hanging) as with the G27?

b) is this confirmed to work 100% with PS3 fw 3.50 and beyond? There seems to be some conflicting reports.

c) i will be using it with GT5 but does it work with ModNation (my son loves this game). Anyone tried?

d) can anyone who ordered a fanatech product with delivery to U.S. inform how long time delivery took? How much was shipping? Was shipping with USPS?

Any input at all is greatly appreciated!

Erik

I'll answer what I can.

a) The Carrera comes with the plastic pedal box, and you'll need to treat it as one unit if you decide to invert them, so you'd need to secure the entire base plate. You can't remove the pedals individually and mount them, like a G25 or G27.

b) As best I can tell it will work. The goal of the Carrera is to be a fully PS3 compatible wheel.

d) I think this totally depends. If Fanatec's US distributor has the item in stock, it should arrive pretty quickly. Took about a week to get to me on the East Coast. Shipping was about $10.

No. However, you can buy Clubsport Pedals and invert them.

Yes.

I haven't tried yet, but it's not an ideal solution for Kart racing titles, which are designed with controllers in mind (and always lack a bumper/cockpit view)

Shipping takes a few weeks, and I believe all orders are $10 shipping (correct me if I'm wrong)

;)

Has any had any trouble with firmware 681? my wheel isn't centering, unless the SPR is set to -3. It centers fine if it isnt plugged in, but when I attach it too the pc or PS3, it takes a litte jolt to the right, about 5 - 10 degrees.

I thought they shipped directly from Germany??? Do they ship from the U.S.??

For North American orders, they ship from the US.

Thanks so much to everyone for answering. I'm trying to build a low cost cockpit from discontinued kitchen cabinet doors from IKEA. Since this is my first build project I have a couple of questions and looking for good advice:

Picture 1: I'm using the IKEA chair POANG with my cockpit. However I'm trying to not go over 21" (53cm) in height. Is this to low? Anyone has this chair? The seating height at the edge is around 14.5" (37cm).

Picture 2: My top will look something like this (I'm going for Fanatec Carrera wheel and shifter).

a- Headtracking. Does it need to be directly in front of you (and the wheel) in order to work correctly? Besides for not seeing the screen to good since my TV is pretty low I would also need quite a long rod to mount the PS3 Eye on. Could it be installed where I have it on the picture? Comments?

ANY input/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you are going to attach this Wenge table (former kitchen door) to your seat, I think that you should shorten it as much as possible, so that will fit your needs without being too heavy. I would suggest you to fix it about 3-6 cm higher than your knees.

See here to have some ideas from a similar, very well done, chair!

Good luck to your project:tup:

Thanks for answering.

Actually my cockpit will have side, floor and top. Picture 1 shows one of the sides and picture 2 shows the top. 3-6cm (1-2") is a great indication, thanks.

WOW that link is a great design for a super simple and space effective solution!

I just ordered a GTRS3 V2 on nov 10, was sent an invoice on the 11th, and got a tracking number on the 12th. Standard shipping is UPS ground and comes from southern California.

Shipping for the wheel only was $18. Used to be pretty much anything was a flat rate of $10, that what it was when I got my PWTS + Clubsport pedals but those days are gone I guess.

I' m currently playing GT5p, works great, no problems at all with my Carrera wheel (PS3 slim, fw 3.50)

Many thanks,

I ordered the wheel on November 3rd and got it at my door in Calgary on November 12. I didn't have to pay for any additional duties or taxes.

I ordered a stand a few days later and it's still in "Processing".

The carrera wheel looks awesome but it seems like it isn't too desk/carpet friendly. I have been searching to find out how sturdy the wheel mounts to a table/desk and if the pedals will not budge on carpet but pretty much every review is done using a cockpit or stand. Anyone use this wheel or the 911 wheel (which I believe has the same pedals and the same mounting system for the wheel) without a wheelstand? If so, how well does it mount and how does it hold up on carpet? Will i NEED the wheel table clamp (sold seperatly) to mount it on a desk? I'd buy a wheelstand but I don't really need one and the desk held up really well when I had my G27. Thanks in advance
