its kinda hard to find good info on the AE86's. i thought they where like hard top miata for a while but soon found out that the miata is 50 times better there a rare car and every ricer thinks there great because of initial D. only i could take an AE86 and drift like Takumi! (j/k) when will the ricers learn....

Lol, it's funny, AE86's yeah they are indeed ugly cars. But for 1, they're balanced very well although they don't look it. Not only that, but they could be compared to the Chevelle in the sense that there's so much space under the hood, you could modify the stock TOYOTA engine, throw a 6 cylinder toyota engine in there, put a 4 cylinder turbo Nissan engine in there, or a 3 rotor Mazda engine in there, very very versitile. No it's not the best car out there, but neither is a Mustang, and neither is a Civic. But they are cheap, and can be made a force to be rekoned with in their own rights fairly easily in the right hands.
Your right, most people want AE86's for the wrong reasons, but that doesn't make it a bad car. Hell, if people are buying ferrari's so they can sit in their driveway covered with a dust gaurd, does that make ferrari a bad car? Heck no

Don't get me wrong..I'm a fan of the AE86 and I wouldn't mind having one, but I just get tired of hearing how great they are from people who don't even own one. I'm sure they are great cars, but I think they've been blown way out of proportion (sp?) because of Initial D.

Well of course they're blown out of perportion for that reason. So were eclipses from Fast And The Furious, and so were 280Z's in stock trim from Wangan Midnight, and so were almost any massively publisized liscenced car. Notice how no one says "Hey, I want to import a Chaser" or "I want a SC300 as soon as possible" Wait untill a Chaser is in a movie, or when a SC300 is the star of a series, then everyone and their mother will be "Experts on the car" and want one. Still the cars good.

my friend does import Skylines through his shop- Motion Dynamics
We're currently waiting on a r34GTR blue- It takes soooo damn long just to get here- This car is brand new (like 3kmiles)

They said it should take about 90 days and it's been about a month and a half- The guy that bought it lives in Kansas and recently won the lottery-

I'm not offended at all because you said kids, which is't me, although I may act like one sometimes.... unlike most people I actually take the time to learn about my favorite car and have even driven a skyline here in the US. I even have the owners manuals to the R34 and R33 skyline GTRs fully translated in english with all pictures thanks to RazorGTR who sent them to me. Also whenever I say something about the skyline I can back it up with facts, unlike most people who ruin it for the rest of us because they dont know jack. I also hate people who claim they own GTRs but are obviously lying because the cant answer a few simple questions about them. Their not even performance related questions, hell the stupidest person in the world could answer them if they really did own a skyline. Questions such as which side is your turn signal on? and what is the button for your hazard lights located next to? simple questions....I did that here to one guy on GTP and he never came back....what a pity...anyway unlike most people who just talk crap, I WILL own a GTR no matter what it takes even if it means moving out of the US.

Yeah exactly, my buddy works at a Mitsu dealer as shop-foreman and is the only person allowed to work on the EVOs there-

People don't even know how trick these cars are! They think the Evos are just another overdressed toy like the Nissan 350Z! Doh!

All four suspension corners are aluminum! completely aluminum man!! The actual shock pistons not the outside tubes are thicker than most shock housings on other cars-
hollow camshafts
2000 dollar brake calipers! each!!!

Next year will offer 6 speed and a chip that aloows 325 hp and takes 10 min to tune-in

First you have to take into consideration the fact that the Skyline isn't in production anymore, so it's value is going to increase slightly, second, factor in the importing and regulating cost. Now if you had to go through the same deal to get a z06 it'd cost too damn much aswell. As far as the cobra 03, not many people of sound mind and body would pick a new mustang, with it's estrogen soaked body style, and rarity factor in the negative numbers over a skyline. The MR2 Spyder doesn't look that visually appealing either, and if you're thinking about a 3sgte swap, you might aswell put it in a nicer car. The Evo 8? Why even mention that car, you should have mentioned the 7, the specs of the Evo 8 arn't on par with the evo's history, it's a statisticly "Worse"(in the performance sense of the word) car when compared to the 7.

Not only that, but tell me what will have more head turns when driving around. A R34 or any of the those other cars, And don't say "Oh i'd turn my head for the z06" it looks almost identical to any other vette, so it's not like it stands out because vette's are PRETTY common now adays.

You're right. It is extremely close but loses on one or two categories to the Evo 7. Otherwise, it's made with more expensive, better-quality materials, it's several times more reliable, and it fixes several of the quirks with the last Evo.

That is a special edition that is probably the easiest to tell apart from the normal car. Aside from the special badging and gray wheels which are extremely obvious in their difference from normal wheels, it has a gray intake in front of the rear wheels which the normal Corvette doesn't posess.

They're very easy to notice, actually.

I "worshipped" the Evo before it came here and i still do. In fact, i do even more than i did when i first saw one in GT. I do hate Mitsubishi Canada, however, for not sending any our way. 👎

the evo,sti,mr2 cant handle anywhere near 800 HP on a stock block, I havent seen ANY that can run 8's on street tires or any that have 1360 hp.... so how do they have the same potential. I don't know about the Z06 so I wont judge that and I'm pertty sure but not 100% on what the cobra can handle but I'm pretty sure it cant be that high....anyway out of all those I think that neares thing to the skyline is a Z06.....

Driftster brings up a good point....if you had to bring a Z06 to japan and crash test it, legalize it and all thet crap I'm sure YOU would charge alot too...

I havent seen ANY that can run 8's on street tires or any that have 1360 hp

*cough* Toyota Supras have been known to run very low 9s with over 1000bhp on street tires...never heard of a Skyline going below nines on street tires though...

9's on street tires, yeah man. There is a whire R34, that travels the US in car shows and what not that is 900HP and run's/has run 9.888 on street tires.
The whole idea that a 1000 HP car, run's 9's is kind of sad to me, don't you think? I mean atleast the Skyline has a right to say "Hey my drivetrain is weighing be down" A Supra's supposed to be balanced with it's "Mid mounted" engine and all.

yeah yeah yeah I'm sure the BLOCK could handle it but the rest of the car would go to $hit at 500 HP and the skyline has an N1 racing block from the factory that can handle over 1000 HP I was merely using the 800 as a base point. I love the supra though, Id have to say that it's my 2nd favorite car behind the skyline..

But the fact is the Evo 7 beats the Evo 8 in 3 quite important catagories.
First the evo 8 weights 80 KG more than the Evo 7
The evo 7 has 5 more HP and 9.8 more ft lbs of torque.
As for being "More reliable" i'd like to know how so, what improvments were made in that aspect?

And seriously "Grey rim's" arn't going to result in awe struck onlookers. And of course the badging is different, it's a z06, Holy crap those 3 inch plastic pieces on the side, and a side intake on the car...it's a completly different car now. The only people that are going to rekognise it are people who actually spend the time to look at emblems. You want to get EVERYONE to turn their head and keep looking, get a skyline, you want 60% of the people to turn their head, and 30% to keep looking get a z06.

the R-34 was designed as a track car....not 1/4 mile....and the R33 is lighter and yes can be faster but it's on the circuit where the R-34 shines...and anyway I like ALL skylines so either way is fine with me...
