Well of course, the R34 is the heaviest of the bunch, so obviously. But you gotta think of it this way, Skyline's succede with RB26DETT's under their hood in both the drag racing world, and the track racing world. Now I havn't been following JGTC much this season, but not many victorious supra's have 2jz-gte's

Lol, no one thinks the Evo 7 is god, sorry to break that to you,
But the fact is the Evo 7 beats the Evo 8 in 3 quite important catagories.
First the evo 8 weights 80 KG more than the Evo 7
The evo 7 has 5 more HP and 9.8 more ft lbs of torque.
As for being "More reliable" i'd like to know how so, what improvments were made in that aspect?

You're using the US Evo 8. European versions have the Evo 8 beating the 7 in torque.

More reliable, more refined. 'Car' had a long-term test version of the Evo 7 and was topping off the oil every 1000 miles. They experienced all sorts of problems including that it failed to start cold sometimes.

People do think the Evo 7 is god.

And seriously "Grey rim's" arn't going to result in awe struck onlookers.

Car people notice. As I said the main difference is the intake in front of the rear wheels; that's pretty obvious.

and anyway I like ALL skylines so either way is fine with me...

So you even like those really really old Nissan Skylines that are family cars? :P

*cough* Toyota Supras have been known to run very low 9s with over 1000bhp on street tires...never heard of a Skyline going below nines on street tires though...:odd:
I'd need to see proof that that was on street tires. Supras are notorious for having no traction when you crank the power up like that. I don't believe you could get below 10 on street tires.

So when you say a rb26dett can take 1000hp on the stock block your saying that everything inside doesn't have to be replaced? I seriously doubt anyone who was tuning one to 1000hp wouldn't want to change the pistons out-

John Sheperd runs low 9s in his eclipse on street tires all the time

They own a true RH9 car. That is a road legal, reg'ed and warrented 9 sec or quicker car. The pass must be on DOT approved tyres. Currently they have a best time of 8.69 @ 160 mph.

While he factory block can handle that sort of power, barely all the internals must be replaced. The factory forged crank is good to about 800hp before that needs replacing.

Nitto drag radials are DOT approved, just like Goodrich R1s or Kuhmo Victoracers are DOT approved roadracing tires. That doesn't make them "street" tires.

The Titan Supra runs 8's on street tires. Who cares if it's on a DOT approved DR? It's still a street tire, thus the reason why it's allowed to race in the NHRA Street Tire class.

If you don't consider a BFG DR a street tire, what do you consider one? One you can buy at Wal-Mart?

neon_duke would you consider Mickey Thompson Street E/T's as a road worthy tyre? They do have a legit tread pattern and tread depth.
Only asking :)

no the block and the pistons are 2 different parts of the car...I specifically said block....but I've been talking to razorGTR about modifications on a skyline and he gave me a list of parts and prices so for about 20,000-30,000 I could have an 800 HP GTR :mischievous:

Some info on the AE86 (coming from an owner of 2)

they are slow - MiniVans walk away from em.
They are old, they breakdown alot
Live Axle -ewww
They are expensive to metiance/upgrade
Tranny and rear end dont really accept HP gains to well.

The best part:
They are a lightweight FR - an AWSOME platform for a fast ass car. They also have their well known history and are total sleeper cars.

Would you care to show some informtation on the long-term test, aswell as that, i've yet to see a spec sheet that had the Evo VIII's in greater numbers than an Evolution 7.

Oh, Doug. Just when you do something inexplicable like buy a condominium in Vegas or call John Cougar a genius, you redeem yourself by a gesture like this.

Hats off to you, sir.

Hats way off!

Never heard of the Audi RS4/RS6 then? The '4 has a twin-turbo 2.7L V6, and the '6 has a twin-turbo 4.2L V8. Both have four doors, and are available as estates (and both are infinitely cooler as such).

I believe that's your brief filled...

No, and here's why:

I know I'm right. I know you're on the fence about believing me. But in order to get you to come around fully, I would have to go into my bedroom and find the five or so magazines in which it was long-term tested, as well as the wrapup in the sixth. Then I would have to scan it, which requires me to close IE, Messenger, Windows Media Player, and AOL, and that's on the rare occaision when the scanner works. Upon scanning it I would have to spend fifteen minutes cropping it because when the images are scanned, they're the size of a road sign. After I finish that, I have to sign back on (a long process in itself) and upload them into my AOL Hometown page because the GTP server is too slow for me to attach them. Then, finally, I link them in. We're talking an hour and a half here.

You can tell me I'm wrong all you want, but I'm not going to spend an hour and a half to scan articles in just to be in the right.

Driftster - M5Power is in fact right. In Europe the Evo8 walks all over the Evo7 - in the same way the Evo7 walked all over the Bugeye MY02 Impreza. The current MY03 - the Accent front end... :D - is nearly on a par with the Evo8 it seems, so we may have a Lancer/Impreza battle back on our hands...

SkylinGTRguy - Err, Nissan Stagea? I think that would fill the requirements... :D

As long as I don't have to start scanning my magazines as well... :D
