evergreen terrace is pretty much a terrible band, but i enjoy their first cd, including the cover of U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Rage Against the Machine - In My Eyes (Minor Threat)

Slayer - Guilty of Being White (Minor Threat) (actually, any of Slayer's Minor Threat Covers rule.)

"We Could Be Heroes" was a great cover by the Wallflowers. Smashing Pumpkins on "Landslide", a classic. 👍 "Stone Cold Crazy" cover, I didn't like. I liked the original WAY too much. :)

Bryan Adams.
No, it's actually Ryan Adams. They're different people all together.
Canadian Speed
Jonney Mitchel
It's actually Joni Mitchell.

But come on, even I could get a #1 hit if I covered Stairway To Heaven... Promote original thought and music!!!
I highly doubt that. Covering a Led Zeppelin song is generally a very risky thing to do, as it's hard to improve on or match the original, and matching the original is quite boring.

DJ Sammy - Bryan Adams' Heaven (give them credit, they totally messed that song up)

OBJECTION!
I liked that song. The candlelight remix was spine tingling.

Also,

No Doubt Come On Eileen, Suspicious Minds, Message in a bottle and Star Wars Theme.

Touring Mars
Soft Cell - Tainted Love (one of the most original cover versions I've heard)

Oxymoron Alert!

Songs I've heard the originals of:

Rage Against The Machine - Star Wars Imperial March (I could listen to that on repeat for an hour. And have :))
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
Korn - Word Up!
Quiet Riot - *** On Feel The Noize
Limp Bizkit - Faith

These ones I haven't heard the original versions of, but like just the same:

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Higher Ground
G'N'R - Knocking On Heaven's Door

Jimmy Enslashay
It's actually Joni Mitchell.

Thanks... I knew it didn't look right... Changed it!

You're 100% right about that. But that was my point... Many of the covers today aren't really all that original to begin with, or better then the orignials, yet they get tons of play time... That's what I was getting at...

Another really good cover most people don't know is a cover is Crosby, Stills and Nash's "Woodstock" also a Joni Mitchell song. Pretty neat story about that too. Joni never made to the festival due to a last minute T.V. show she was going to appear on. However, having written the song anyhow as she was quite prolific, and knowing the guys, she asked if they could sing it for her... They agreed and the rest is history.

Agreed, I just like how agressive they made it. But the original was a blast as well... Kind of like Manson with Sweet Dreams, a very original cover that deserved the air time it got... At least for it's originality.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Higher Ground
G'N'R - Knocking On Heaven's Door

Then you're missing out... Though I like Clapton's cover of Heaven's Door more then Dylons. But Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground is a pure work of funky genious!!!

Yes. Very much agreed. In fact, one song I missed was Crosby, Stills & Nash' (not sure if it was with Neil Young) version of The Beatles' Blackbird. A very well done cover, with a lot more emotion and atmosphere than the original, though The Beatles' version was very good itself.

I didn't know Neil Young was part of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, until just last weekend. :ouch: I got laughed at for that one. I also didn't know that Neil Young used to be in Buffalo Springfield, or that he was in a same band with Rick James. :scared:

Just heard "There she goes" from Sixpence None the Richer (original by The La's)

It've always found weird that you could make a cute song about... shooting yourself with Heroin. Plus it manages to go in a family movie and a romantic comedy soundtrack.

Looks like I'm going to have to go on a song hunt, then.

Forgot this: Lowrider by Korn. J. Davis on the bagpipes, Brian "Head" Welch on vocals and traditional Korn deep'n'bassy guitars. Works quite well, I reckon.

Jimmy Enslashay
I have an Yngwie Malmsteen "rares" album, which is full of great covers. My favourite would definitely have to be Beethoven's 5th Symphony. On guitar, it is absolutely amazing.

Other good covers on this album include Ozzy Osbourne's Mr. Crowley, AC/DC's Back In Black, ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Aerosmith's Dream On, and although not exactly a cover as such, but he does a guitar rendition of the theme song for the game Zelda. Very cool album.
Sounds great, I want it!

I have an acoustic concert of Dream Theater where they play a few covers, including U2's Bad, Elton John's Yellow Brick Road and Pink Floyd's Hey You. All pretty good. 👍

Chevelle - It's No Good (Depeche Mode cover)

Also, speaking of Joni Mitchell...

A Perfect Circle - Fiddle and the Drum

I highly doubt that. Covering a Led Zeppelin song is generally a very risky thing to do, as it's hard to improve on or match the original, and matching the original is quite boring.

Indeed... The only band I know of that has ever done a Led Zeppelin cover which not only honored but exceeded the original, is Tool...

Actuely, the whole Econium... Ecomium (? not sure the exact name... something like that) is all pretty good. There are some killer KILLER Zep covers on it from all sorts of bands on there.👍

Econium?... I'm not familiar with this... Please explain.. I'm always down to hear some good quality Zeppelin covers...

I think Canadian Speed is talking about this album:

Encomium

Is Save Ferris a pseudonym for No Doubt?

They sound identical, I mean really identical.

Another great cover album is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Live at the Fillmore 20th Night... It's hard to find, but it's a 3 CD compilation of a sold out performance they did at Fillmore and it's all covers... Great album... Some of the covers are You Are My Sunshine, Ain't No Sunshine, Time Is On My Side... And they even got John Lee Hooker to do his song Boogie Chillin' with them... Simply amazing... If you can find it, it's a must for Petty fans or those who just love great live music...

Dream Theater official bootlegs of concerts where they play the "The Number Of The Beast" and "Master Of Puppets" albums are pretty good too. There's also the "Dark Side Of The Moon" album bootleg, but I don't know if it was released officially yet.

I sure missed that

Some more:

Arch Enemy - Kill with Power
Therion - Thor (The Powerhead)
Therion - Crazy Nights
A Perfect Circle - When the Levee Breaks
