Last night I saw a band called Harvest Moon. One of the guitarists from Crazy Horse was the lead guit/vocals. They played a lot of Neil young songs, naturally, but also some Stones and other similar music.

Absolutely amazing show, and free!!!

We called them for encores about 4 times: they were playing 'til almost 5AM.

Where did you see that show!? Sounds amazing!

It was a Canadian-Latvian youth event in Toronto. I'm not sure where the connection is, but we had them play, and they were great.

It was at one of the Latvian Centres in Toronto, downtown.

One of the Neil Young song's solo was played entirely by teeth - Jimi style. Truly spectacular to see executed so perfectly right infront of your eyes.

Sarch by bands and find all songs covered by that band and all songs that band has covered.

For example, look for The Cure, and you'll find all songs by The Cure that have been covered by other bands. And also, all the songs by other bands performed by The Cure.

It's a pretty large page.

I recently got the four "Punk Goes..." compilation albums:

Punk Goes Acoustic
Punk Goes 80s
Punk Goes Metal
Punk Goes Pop

All of the 80s and Pop ones are covers (some pretty funny, some pretty good) and there are a couple of covers on the other two. There's also a "Punk Goes 90s" one coming soon. 👍

I did a bit of searching and didn't see anything exactly like this so, fingers crossed, it's a new idea.

The last song I heard this morning was a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's The Sounds of Silence. Later, for some unfathomable reason, I imagined what the song would sound like if performed by Barney the Dinosaur... "Hellooooo darkness my ol' frayeennd".

That had me giggling for twenty minutes or so. Anyway the thread is, what hilarious song / artist combination would you like to hear? Metallica performing Greensleeves? Pavarotti doing Shaggy's "It wasn't me"?

Hang on, this would be a really funny one: Lily Allen covering Kaiser Chief's "Oh My God".

Oh, wait, she has.

Anyway serve them up, might be good for a laugh.

I think that the Lily Allen Kaiser Chiefs cover is really good. Of course, it's with a wry smile, because this "voice of modern youth" has run out of things to say already, and is resorting to covers, but there you go...

Interpol should cover Whitney Houston's "I will always love you".

Cliff Richard could do NWA's "**** tha Police"

Thanks for the relocation, I should have looked around a bit more before posting.

I'll admit I also like the Lily Allen cover - at least until she gets to the chorus. It's just the idea seems so.... wrong.

The cover of Radiohead's 'Just' is the best thing that Ronsen did I think.

The Spice Girls doing a remix of Nine Inch Nails - the perfect drug.

I have an mp3 of Ozzy Osbourne covering 'Stayin' Alive'... :ill: It's great :D Also, Yes covered Simon & Garfunkel's song 'America', which is fantastic 👍

I'd like to continue in the S&G phase and see a compilation of S&G covers. I'd especially like to hear Emerson, Lake and Palmer's version of El Condor Pasa... that would be about as nuts as it is possible to be.

 @ Ozzy doing Stayin' Alive! He was my favourite artist in the '80s, I'm kind of glad I wasn't familiar with this cover at the time...

Oh, -Diego- reminded me of a great, um, possible cover I heard once on the radio, was someone performing "She Hates Me", from Puddle of Mudd, in a kind of swinging style. It sounded hilarious. Only problem is, I'm not sure which one is the cover!

That sounds like Richard Cheese... he covers metal, rap, pop and rock in a Swing/Lounge style... kinda funny, but gets old quickly.

The Arctic Monkeys doing something by Girls aloud, or the Automatic doing something R'n'B. Perhaps "Gold digger."

Reckon the change of accents/style would be good.

ACDC covering Sharp Dressed Man would be within reasonable parameters of cool.

You know that AM have already done this, don't you? They did "Love Machine", it's available to buy on the Radio 1 Live Lounge album.

I don't think I had ever heard of Lily Allen before. I checked out the cover on youtube(I'm a fan of the original), and I also thought it was really good. I love cover songs, btw. I can't think of a good one, but some of your suggestions are really good, or interesting. 👍

Jim Nabors doing Brad Paisley's Alcohol

Paris Hilton doing Loretta Lynn's Coal Miner's Daughter

Mormon Tabernacle Choir does George Michael's I want your sex

All completely WRONG, but kinda funny to think about.

Just thought of some more:

Axl Rose covers You Light up My Life

Ozzy Osbourne covers Huey Lewis and the News I want a new drug.

Marc Cohn covers Rascal Flatts covering Marc Cohn's Walkin' in Memphis
(I normally like Rascal Flatts, but they really should have left this song alone)
