If you have a negative opinion that has an actual basis and explain that, then that's fine. You don't like the grating of Vaughn Gitten's voice, hot air balloons remind you of the Hindenburg, whatever. At least if you have reasons, there's a discussion to be had and other people can agree or disagree.
To just come in and proclaim that Shift is a **** arcade game that belongs in the '90s is completely useless to everyone. Of course they're going to get attacked.
Yeah, the people that like the game are defensive of it but we're not obtuse. It has flaws, and some pretty big ones at this stage. But irrational negativity helps no one.

Indeed your quite right, my own fault I shall not deny that, I believed the hype and should be old enough to ignore that. Shift is the reason I will not be buying Shift 2 and wont be supporting any more EA arcade racing titles.
Also, that pimped up SLR model looks worse than most of the GT5 standard cars.

I really didn't want to be one of the downers posting in this thread but I'm afraid S2U is already out of my PS3. There are a lot of things that look very promising in this game and I was really looking forward to getting into it. Unfortunately there is very bad steering and throttle lag when using a wheel so that completely destroys any hint of realism for me. With the lag, it drives like an arcade game. If they fix that however it might just be a solid game. Sadly I doubt EA/SMS will pay enough attention to wheel users to get on top of it.

I like shift2 a lot, and have been playing the snot out of it, but there are a few things:
- Livery editor is low on quality--meaning I can't change the color of even the most primitive of decals, or select letters/numbers.
- Youtube video upload limited to 10 seconds of 360p quality video, making it next to useless.
- There is a FFB 'rocking' motion on all cars. On some it is almost non-existent, but on other cars it makes them nearly undrivable on straights, and I don't know how (or if) it can be tuned out.

A guy comes in here to see if the game has any big bugs or something very wrong with it and has to read an entire page of someone still back in 2009 complaining about the first Shift (wich I liked a lot)
Go make your own thread or stick to the topic (wich you cant because you havent played the game)

No one has a problem with constructive critique and discussion, but comments designed to provoke a negative reaction (as your was) will not be tolerated.
Leave the moderation of the site to the moderators please, if you have an issue with the manner in which a member is posting then you use the report button. What you do not do is start telling them how to post.
Both of you can consider this to be a formal warning, continue in this manner and you will be taking a two day holiday from GT Planet.
Everyone posting here needs to remember that the AUP applies to every post you make and either this thread calms down immediately or its gets locked and I start to hand out warnings and/or infractions.

Yes I have a issue... Im reading RobGT81 posts to see what is the problem with the game to figure if it is something to put me off buying it or not and I finally find out that it hasnt actualy played the game and that Ive just lost 10 minutes of my life... thats my issue. Im no moderator thats a fact but my infraction to the AUP was the same as his (not sticking to the thread) and I didnt see him get a formal warning even though he is missleading people like he did to me (thinking that he had actually something usefull to tell me about the game even if it was a negative aspect of it).

Given that you have no idea what action may or may not have been taken against any member on the site I would strongly suggest you drop the subject and get the thread back on track if you wish it to remain open.
My comments were clearly addressed to the both of you and I can assure you that the staffs patience with the various AUP issues currently spread across the Shift sub-forum is growing rather thin.
I will say it once again for clarity, use the Report button and don't take action out in public yourself.
Right now this thread is on 'life-support' and if it doesn't get back on track now I will pull the plug on it.

Ban them,suspend them do whatever you want, but closing an entire thread dedicated to the widespread dissapointment due to the fact we were lied to about the physics etc... + youtube upload for 10sec @ 360p lol that's not youtube upload, that's a marketing lie.
Close this thread scaff but other's will pop up repeatedly due to the fact there is dissapointment. Mayaswell just leave people to get there gripes out in here and if they do it in a way which "breaks the AUP" then just give them a holiday.

Yes.
You will note that I have also clearly stated that action against the members who do so is an option the staff have. I will be blunt, the staff reserve the right to take whatever action we feel is needed to ensure the AUP is followed, and that includes locking threads I(either temporarily or permanently) as well as action against members.
Now stop dragging the thread off topic by telling the staff how we should work (and in doing so become part of the problem) and post constructively.

Dissapointments : Great track selection ( even if they ruined bathurst ) and great car selection - if it had GT5 physics + graphics it would be a blast.
720p @ 30fps is horrible to watch, it should almost be illegal nowadays.. 1080p tv's are common as dogballs so c'mon MAKE YOUR GAMES 1080p. And 30fps ? 30? Are we in 1995 ? We are in 2011 this is not the day an age of 30fps. Money talks though huh, time is money. Making 1080p and 60fps is time and effort, 2 attributes which EA/SMS haven't shown to possess.

The 600lb gorilla , the physics - Marcus Nilson 3min 51sec - " However with this game and with the physics engine that we are using, you don't get anymore sim that this . If you put this game on elite model, you just get a sim that is MORE SIM that ANYTHING else out there" - He actually says that in that interview, can you believe that? Slice of failcake anyone?

I put another 6 hours into Shift 2 last night, and I'm still nowhere near disappointed with the game. The racing remains great, and the physics serve their purpose well.
My only concern is that I have had several lockups on my XB360 when exiting events and upgrading cars. Don't know if its the software or hardware, but it's worth noting.
Give the Retro European Hot Laps a try . . . you'll run a loaner E30, Rabbit and Lancia Int and its a serious but doable challenge (especially on elite- no aids.)

While I agree that Shift 2 is far from sim racing nirvana; the more I play it, the more I like it. It's kinda like really dark chocolate or bleu cheese; barely palettable at first, but you'll find yourself craving it soon enough.
