I don't think this game is for you. I'd take counterpoint to some of your arguments, but I fear it would be a waste of time. I recommend you continue playing GT5, you will enjoy it more.
See, but it works (technically) if you tell them that before they buy it. If someone hates a game before they even play it, THEN goes and buys it and complains that it's bad I've got no sympathy at all.
Actually, i would like to find out how folks that still play GT5 find this game?
Folks seem to be split with either you hate GT5 or Love it, Most who hate GT5 seems to like this game, more excitement and all. But i would like to find out what the folks who like GT5 think about this game. Specially when they have played it.
Based on the previews, it seems that the physics is still not at par with GT5 and FM3, but what does this mean? I want to feel that i control the car and that i can tell between the different cars specially at or past it's limits.
I'm not a physics snob, i like Dirt2 ( most say it has more arcady physics). In Dirt2 i can actually feel the car, I feel the weight transfer. I can induce over steer with the throttle, maintain it with counter steering etc.
I think paint job.. and that body kit looks pretty atrocious.
I agree and could not have said it better. All the gt fanboys rant about how real the driving physics is but the supposedly realest racing simulator left out the ability to upgrade brakes lol. On top of that we have no livery editor, limited aerokits, no engine swaps, basic mods, subpar car sounds, the damage is not that great and the cars still bounce off walls to some degree, jaggy shadows and other grapical errors ( just look at the race map outline enough said), 800 cars that are just imports from older gt with same polys and no ability to even change rims ( even though you could change rims in the older games). I would much rather have su2s better selection of cars, better ability to customize, better night races imo, better soundtrack ( gt5s is horrid), better engine sounds and racing experience (ie cockpit views and helmet cams), better AI, better damage and ok to good physics.I'm picking up my pre-order tomorrow, and I'm absolutely sure I won't be disappointed by . . .
1. The lack of Museum Cards
2. A car selection limited to only RACE worthy chassis
3. AI whose behavior is dynamically adjusted to the human player
4. Varied car modelling "STANDARDS"
5. A credit/xp model which DEMANDS I rerun a particular event AD NAUSEUM
If I'm disappointed S2U, it will because the quality of the racing doesn't provide for the "suspension of disbelief" for the physics. That said, given my disappointment with GT5, I'm prepared to trade a bit of physics for racing which is compelling. Sadly, GT5 revealed this to me. I know many of you may feel differently, and to each his own.

This game is awesome. Way better than Gt5 or Forza or Iracing. The feedback from the wheel is incredible. Great game EA, knocked this one outta the park!
Here we go with this dude again he gets one thread locked now he is being sarcastic
xSTIG_JUNIORx^ just ignore it
I'm getting my game whatever are the bad comments...
Not disappointed with Shift 1, how can I be disappointed with Shift 2.
Tell me tomorrow that you love the realistic feedback from any wheel. Just do that.

saladine1So, been playing SHIFT 2 for the last couple of hours.
Some quick impressions:
Handling has improved IMMENSELY. The sliding or swaying isn't there any more!
The cars are very controllable from the start without having to tweak certain wheel settings.
I've only driven a few of cars but you can really feel the distinction between FF and FR for example. I drove a Mk1 Golf around Bathurst and I must say....it was phenomenal!
Going fast over a hill or 'jump' will not result in an 'airbag' landing like in other games. Oh no, the result is the suspension and tyres lose all sense of stability and you completely lose the car in the most realistic fashion i've ever seen in a game!
Snap oversteer is depicted really well. Counter steering is also simulated in a proper manner. You will lose grip if accelerating on a fullish lock and the locking up of brakes feel realistic as well.
I really love the Elite physics, if feels so right and is a lot of fun. It's not PC sim physics but it's pretty close, much, much better than SHIFT 1.
saladine1There are a few things that I don't like:
The graphics are....not all that to be honest. If you really want a graphical showcase get the PC version. There's a weird grey sheen on the cars in the garage and the trees look strange. Aliasing is bad as well.
Here's a strange one....upgrades: (try to follow,lol)
Example- Exhaust
There's no stage 1,2,3. You have: high flow muffler, catback exhaust and headers.
Now, when you buy the muffler,it installs and you gain a little power. But, if you install cat back exhaust, you lose that high flow rear muffler. Then, if you install some headers, you lose the cat back exhaust!!
WTF!!!
Those items you uninstalled are still there but not as a purchased items. You have to buy them again if you want them back. Why would they uninstall my exhaust system just because I installed some headers?
Same thing with Cylinder Heads. First option is street valves and 3 angle valve seat. If you install the next option which is large valves, port and polish, you lose the valve seat job you previously did. Then, if you choose the next option, heavy duty springs and retainers, you lose the large valves and port 'n' polish!
How the **** can some retainers have more horsepower potential than large valves and port and polish?
What they've done is, treat each upgrade in a particular mod as stage 1,2,3 when they're not supposed to. Those 3 upgrades should work off each other and not be seperate...
Thats where you went wrong I have never expected this to be extreamly realistic I have other sims for that
ooh me thinks this guy is a sore looser and bitter eh??Oh yeah, which sims? If you're expecting this to be even 20% the sim of Gt5, then oops.
Saladine, my Australian buddy from NeoGaf has shared some impressions.
First he listed positives, which are more important:
Than for some negatives:
Basically, problems with the tuning logic in the structure.
However, I really appreciate his opinion and I can't wait to get my hands on PS3 game later today.
