Jay, that was just to show how expensive GT5 is already from the developer's side. I'm pretty sure Kazunori quoted that figure ($50 mil) in one of the more recent interviews and I am rather surprised he answered that question at all.
So, going back to your original statement that adding more work-force to get things done quicker: it's already got quite a budget, and second you can put only so many people on a project until it all goes badly wrong. The more people you already have in place, the harder it gets to speed things up by even adding more people to the job.

Sometime last year, or perhaps even before, Polyphony increased its workforce by about 25%, and it's possible they added even more people since then.
So... since 2005, Polyphony has been working around Tourist Trophy, GT HD, GT5 Prologue and its updates, as well as an entire Gran Turismo game even larger than GT4 - which took about four years by the way. GT PSP may have had some work done already as far as car and track modeling, but they had to create a new physics engine for it, then squeeze this massive game into about a gigabyte of space onto a handheld architecture. If anyone thinks this took less than a year, I'd like a detailed explanation.
Around all of this, Kazunori and his team worked endlessly on GT5. GTHD and Prologue by all accounts just required a few months effort. So if you want to lay any blame on the delay from Christmas, put it squarely on SONY Japan and GT Mobile.

Saying that more than two games per decade is not quite the case. GT3-GT PSP, how many titles is that? Including TT, GT5P, GT HD, etc. A decent number I'd say.
And I mean the demo is all out on the same day, around the world, why not release it all at the same time. It's obviously possible. Hell, FM3 was released in Japan before America.
But not once have I decided to boycott GT5 for their delays. I thought about selling my PS3 if it was released in 2010, but I was just upset that it might be delayed further.

Out of frustration I came close to buying a XBOX 360 today just for Forza 3 but that would be more of a compromise. I really haven't been a fan of Mircosoft products over the years so after researching various boards & articles & decided to wait it out. To reward myself I bought NFS: Shift instead.

Simple fact of the matter is this. It's a Japanese game developed in Japan by Japanese people and a Japanese company (PD). If the game were made by Americans I'm quite sure America would be number 1 Priority and it would feature loads of American cars. As its been said before (in another thread) some cars (like classic American Muscle cars) may not be easily accessible in Japan, which would require them to fly overseas and that costs alot of money when you put into perspective the amount of equipment they need to carry with them and how many people.
So it's probably cheaper and easier to access 20 different version of Skyline or 20 different version of Lancer than it is to gain access to all the different version of Camaro, Corvette.. etc etc. So what I'm saying is, the reason Japan is favoured so much (if that's what anyone thinks) is because the game is made in Japan and because the cars are far easier to gain access to.
My final word before I end my rant is a quote from KY: "You will wait for something that is worth waiting for."

Yeah GTPSP was released in conjunction with the PSP GO.
So existing PSP owners still have to pay, because the free copies are download only. I'm not paying >£150 for a new PSP, ontop of my £90 for my old PSP just to play a £20 game.
EDIT: Please ignore this post (There is probably a way to download onto my PSP memory stick... meh - if i had the space. I did read somewhere that it was PSP GO owners only.)

Without the personal passion that Kazunori has for cars, we wouldn't have Gran Turismo at all. He is Japanese after all and it is only natural, by the OP's logic, that he would have a fondness and familiarity for Japanese cars. Every version of GT has blown me away and exceeded all my expectations. There simply has never been any racing game to compare with it in my opinion. They have provided thousands of hours of entertainment for me and I have the utmost respect for anyone who channels their creative nature through their passion as he does.
As far as I am concerned, Kaz can take as long as he damn well pleases .... it's his baby and he has to follow his heart. I just know that when he is satisfied with it and it ships to me, I will love it that much more than it's predecessor.
Personaly, I think there are too many cars in the game anyway. Just my opinion. I have 545 cars in my GT4 garage and I doubt that I ever drive more than 100 of them. I would rather have 100 cars and every track from around the world. It is track diversity that provides the replay value for the years in wait for the next GT, not the number of cars
As for the "Nationalistic" point of view from the OP, I'd just like to say, that the globe is a shrinking place. If there was anyone in the US with the same passion and devotion as Kaz, then maybe you would get your game first ! I just don't see why that's so important to you. Relax and enjoy the view

im can wait... but i have been looking less at GT and more at FM...
just seems like FM is more community driven and just seems more colorful and fun.
5+ years with 60 Milli budget, a Demo we had to PAY FOR and a half-azzed Time-Attack lame of an excuse "Demo" is what we get??? not even a real demo with the up-to-date damage and graphics?...
the "Demo" is fine... im just pissed at the lack of detail its missing... no tire marks, when i go on the grass there are no marks on the grass that indicate that i was there...
lame smoke/dust effects... im sure they can use the dust they had in the rally races in GT4/3 to be smoke from tires on the track...
i want to see the Rally races in GT5... if the cars finish the race sparkling clean like they did in the other GT games its a FAIL...
if i dont like this GT game... i can just go to FM.... thank god for choices...

Has it not occured to you that is a limited Time Trial demo only meant For GT Academy as well as to show the new physics engine? Its not supposed to give you all the tire marks and the other useless crap people keep whining about.

yes i am well aware what PD was doing with the Time Trial and again i said its a fine "Demo" im just mad at the lack of presentation that was delivered.
