Lol, again? Again with the secret evidene? Where is the evidence of the first time they claimed they used it?

Also find this funny:
The Senate, controlled by President Barack Obama’s Democratic Party, easily passed the measure late Thursday by a bipartisan vote of 78-22. The US will now spend $500 million to arm and train the anti-government militants, as well as to expand its military action in Iraq.

Do we really know who these militants are? All we know is that they don't like Assad. The MSM likes to call them moderates but I have never seen any proof of that. How do they see the future of Syria?

Top Pentagon officials and a senior Democrat in Congress so distrusted Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's 2011 march to war in Libya that they opened their own diplomatic channels with the Gadhafi regime in an effort to halt the escalating crisis, according to secret audio recordings recovered from Tripoli.

The tapes, reviewed by The Washington Times and authenticated by the participants, chronicle U.S. officials' unfiltered conversations with Col. Moammar Gadhafi's son and a top Libyan leader, including criticisms that Mrs. Clinton had developed tunnel vision and led the U.S. into an unnecessary war without adequately weighing the intelligence community's concerns.

"You should see these internal State Department reports that are produced in the State Department that go out to the Congress. They're just full of stupid, stupid facts," an American intermediary specifically dispatched by the Joint Chiefs of Staff told the Gadhafi regime in July 2011, saying the State Department was controlling what intelligence would be reported to U.S. officials.

What a load of BS. It was the NATO who led everyone into that war. Which for today's standards wasn't a very long one either.

US politicians need to tell the whole truth and not pick and choose as they like. It's getting embarrassing.

Isn't the war still going on to this very hour? The airport in the capital city is in ruins and the US embassy abandoned!!

Nah. It's more of a civil conflict now. And does the US really want embassies in places where they aren't all that welcome?

Saudi Arabia has, with a couple of allies, bombarded targets in Yemen.

The Shiite Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, are trying to take over the country.
And the Western world sides with Saudi Arabia and co.

Sigh.

And so, the odds of an IS takeover in Yemen have probably significantly shortened. :indiff:

No, I think Saudi Arabia might prevent that. It might be a bit too close to home for them. Only being separated by a couple of mountains. In Iraq they still have some what of a buffer in the form of the Iraqi Army backed by the West. Yemen has very little.

Edit.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt will lead a military mission, accompanied by Sudan and Pakistan.

Was wondering why SA is bombing in Yemen. Makes sense now.

Yes, it looks like a new invasive war of aggression will shortly commence. Saudi Arabia will invade Yemen and the war will go on for years with many unanticipated negative consequences. As the great diplomat Madeleine Albright once said, "What's the sense in having a great army if you don't occasionally use it?"

About Pakistan's physical involvement, I wouldn't be too sure just yet.

But in the meantime they are bombing the crap out of the rebel held cities. The Saudis and Gyptians don't do half assed stuff.

What would your alternative be for the Yemen situation?

Let Saudi Arabia invade it, annex it and that causes that Yemen is no longer the poorest Arabic nation. Iran probably won't like it but still, great solution.

I would remind the Sauds they are not to invade a sovereign neighbor unless attacked by that neighbor, or authorized by the UN. They are already in a regional proxy war with Shiite Iran and Syria, and there is no need to escalate this into an open invasion and invite Iranian response. The US and other responsible world powers are just now negotiating with Iran over their nuclear aspirations, and cooperating with them in ridding Iraq of ISIS. I would stop the Sauds from making the situation worse.

Saudi was attacked back in 2009 and responded, given it was by the al-Houthis and not Yemeni government their response was short and proper. They will support or at least tolerate anyone in Yemen that is not Iranian backed, al Qaeda, or ISIS. I don't think they are terribly concerned with U.N. authorization.

On November 4, 2009, after rebels had taken over areas within Saudi territory, Saudi Arabia bombed al Houthi rebel positions and officially entered into the conflict. Reports indicate that Saudi Arabia has deployed military units, including special forces, to its southern border. According to an official Saudi source, the Saudi offensive would continue until “all hostile elements are cleansed.”

Your solution to the fall of the government and attempted takeover of Yemen by Houthi and Shi'ite militants backed by Iran is to tell the Saudi's to stay away?

They should probably fund and back Houthi, they have more to offer than Iran, there is going to be a need for humanitarian aid soon also.

Discussion on the situation in Yemen. Posted this for the people who are interested in something differtent from the US State Department version of current events.

I hope someone has their camera ready when those ships start firing at each other.

When the firing starts between Saudi Arabia and Iran, you had better believe it will get the attention of sponsoring powers US, Russia and China. When these guys start firing, you can bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.

Oh, no doubt about that. All the nuclear talks would have been a wasted of time when that happens. The Saudi desert once again will be filled with Western military forces.

To wickedly paraphrase Madeleine Albright, "There's no sense in having a giant nuclear arsenal, unless you use it occasionally."
