Apparently there's no contact penalties at all, so my race was ****. Should have done a bit better in qualifying, but it was okay for a first fast lap. Got up to 8th by lap two, got taken out in the esses by a nob who subsequently got about five seconds of corner cutting penalties over the next lap and a half and ended up last by 15s.

Also had a guy who was clearly connecting through an abacus and teleporting all over the place. I drove through him crashing, or a cloud of smoke created by his accident, fourteen times, but of course none of them were actually real crashes.

The drive itself is okay, but I'm not going back for another bite of that.

Managed to get into the 20:00 Euro race this time.

Really wish I hadn’t. Everyone defends their position like it’s Wreckfest. As has been said, track limits are a nonsense. Sportsmanship absent.

I’m really struggling to understand why this fiasco is better than GT Sport was/is. My experience is that it isn’t.

The behaviour of the players is disgraceful. Sadly, many are from my own Country. I am not proud that this is the case and will no longer be racing in the nations cup as I no longer wish to be associated with that type of person.

Done. Should have said it earlier.

Followed Mercia's alternate track layout to qualify 7th.
Glad to be of assistance  Congrats on a strong result!

I enjoyed the Laguna Seca run in these cars a good while back and was pretty competitive there so with about 30 mins practice time available I figured I was either going to be surprisingly decent here or be running at the back. A time of 2:21.5 putting me 14th in qualy answered that question but I can't complain about the race itself.

About 5 or 6 of us were racing around the same pace making up the back markers and the competition was enjoyably clean and back and forth as we went around. Finished 13th, could have been 11th, could have been last but the 10 laps flew by and it's nice to be on track again after dipping out of the dallies this week.

Any chance to put on the ol' Pescarolo paint scheme though and I'm there

what was the guys name who was teleporting?

why are the track limits non sense?

Quali lap wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either and it put me 7th on the grid. Had a clean start and was in a battle for lap 1 and at the end of the lap was in a 3 car battle for 4th. That became a 5 car battle as we all seemed to make mistakes which allowed a couple of the slow starters to catch up. Had a decent amount of back and forth but just when I thought I got away, I made a mistake at T5 which I guess in the grand scheme of things only cost me one position. After some more close racing, in the end it was P6.
A decent enough result and had fun in the group I was in so can't complain

I really do not mind losing when the other is just better...

Had evening shift so had to do the last slot. Qualifying went well, first lap got me P1, third lap again P1 but only about 0.02 seconds ahead of a Spanish driver. Last lap secured pole, I knocked of 2 tenths. Good session, I was focussed, not even the cat trying to catch a bug right in front of me got me out of my Mojo....

Start went okay, the Spanish driver in second stayed on my tail the first 2 laps but then got a 0.5 second penalty and when he served it i had opened a gap of over 2 seconds. I really fancied my chances that moment as long as i could do consistent laps. But the next lap the Spaniard had an amazing run, going wel under a second to my fastest lap and he was right behind me again. I could hold him of for a while but he had a good run out of the Esses and overtook me. I stayed on his tail and was hoping for a mistake. Till about lap 8 I was just about a second behind him but his final 2 laps were amazing and he finished well over 3 seconds ahead of me to take a very deserved win. I'll take second, i drove quite wel and consistent, he was simply faster them me, that's it.

hats off to him! He was fast and drove fair and he also had an awesome Pescarola based livery.

A bit of a frustrating race. Again with the hard fixation. Like the MX-5's last week they had understeer into a corner and oversteer on the out of them. Any angle more than a pinch and the back end wanted to go first. A better tyre would have produced a better race.
Anyway I was able to qualify 9th. I lost 2 places at the start but quickly got them back due to errors on the opening lap. 1 a spectacular tank slap at the top of the hill at the end of the lap. The 2nd at the bottom of the hill were someone ran wide. I was on the tails of those ahead just waiting on a mistake as they were just that bit faster. I was able to keep the car under control and on the black stuff. One of the accidents caught me up and I let them go as they were faster. Then whilst I was maintaining the gap behind well on lap 7 the car refused to turn at the hairpin in the 'M' part of the circuit. I went wide and onto the grass. I came out ahead but the car was now extra squirrelly through the esses. It took everything I had with my meagre equipment and skill to stop a spin. However this gave the Portuguese driver behind and excuse to barge past me rudely and this meant I was also a sitting duck on the straight for the German behind. That's how we finished. P11.

BTW; that Clean Race Bonus really does not make any sense. Had a race yesterday without any contacts, incidents or track limit violations yet no CRB. and that is not the first time.....

19:00 Euro server…….
Black screen as warm up ends……

Haha the state of the game. You think things improve from an update and then the next update takes thing back to square one.
Did do nations last night, but doing manufacture tonight. Might only get one shot at the race at 5pm so hopefully they are no issues.
got the same things.

I do GTWS practice races on euro servers.
I did this during the test season and a little bit in the season 1 but Ive stopped doing this as I was taking positions away from others. Was good to get the strategy and test it before my regions races.
Hahaha and this is why I didn’t race. I hate the car to start with but the corner cuts is a joke in this race.

OK, so why on earth did PD say in Austria that it's OK to use an alt account for the season 2 manu series so that you can change manufacturers? Already I'm told at least half a dozen top-tier Asian drivers have done this.

Seems unfair that PD hasn't provided the option in-game for existing accounts and turns a blind eye to the alt-account "hack".

I think PD have said you can use an alt account to race daily races in different regions, but they don’t like you using an alt account in nation & manufacturers in other regions. As for using an alt account in your own region I dont see what the issue is, as long as your DR/SR matches your main account.
Agree that they should have made it clear in Season 1 that once you sign a contract your locked into that manufacture for the year. I was tempted to change my manufacture this season as well.

The issue is that those who're aware of the loophole can switch manufacturers if their cars are nerfed, whilst those who're not (aware) have to suffer the consequences of driving "underpowered" throughout the season.

This is patently-unfair and PD ought to have allowed switching between seasons, as happens in real life, as an in-game option IMHO.

Manu Asia Slot 2. 298 pt lobby.

Went into this feeling optimistic. The DBR9 feels strong around here and my 1:49.6 in FP seemed competitive.

Lobby loads and it’s about 50% WRXs. I’m the only Aston.

Qualy went well and I nailed a 49.9. That was good enough for… Q11!?! Absolutely ridiculous pace in this lobby. Pole ran a 48.8xx!!!

On to the hards and away we went. Quickly tacked onto the back of the 2 cars in front. A WRX and an AMG. They then proceed to fight and defend like crazy and slow all of us down. Eventually the WRX makes a mistake into tge back straight and I pass him, then the AMG gets a track limit penalty and I get him too. With 7 laps down I put my head down and start catching p7 and 8 who aren’t fighting, but seem to be slower than I am. On lap 9 I’m within 1.5 seconds of p8 but I graze the wall coming on to the straight and now p9 is looking certain. Hi nto the back straight for tge final time and the yellow flags come out. P2 has put it into the wall and has damage. I fly by and run home safely for p8. 211 points and, given the ludicrous speed in the lobby, I’m not too upset.

One and done.

I was gonna say, is the DBR9 that much better? I chose the Vantage and I couldn’t come close to your time. I followed a ghost of the top DBR9 on the leaderboard and I just couldn’t get the turn in they were through the second sector.

Yeah your right to be fair. When you put it like that it is pretty unfair really.

They did. It said in the signup for season 1 that you wouldn’t be able to change until after season 2.

Exactly, which is what makes this so-unfair.

IOW:
PD says it's OK to use an alt account to be able to switch Manu's (last week in Austria and peeps are doing this) and yet doesn't provide the option in-game, even stipulating officially that it cannot be done.

So, it's OK to cheat for those who know how, but verboten for everyone else.

One last "relevant" comment:

What happens if someone or more than one person makes it to Monaco, having attained the necessary points due to having switched manufacturers?

This is why I brought it up in the first place.

I’m just a lowly B driver, but for me the DBR9 is at least a half second quicker on this track (on both compounds). Did a load of test runs this week with both cars.

They did. It said in the signup for season 1 that you wouldn’t be able to change until after season 2.

They did make it clear. It's in the "Opening of the GTWS......" news story and there was a message in game when you picked your manufacturer.
Ah fair enough. Completely missed this notification. I guess this is why you should read the T&Cs

Ended up cursed and ran 2 slots. slot 1: umm. Nevermind. Qualified p16, climbed to p13 and was closing on p12 when I screw up sector 1, get dropped back to p14. Passing to be p13 again and someone ahead wrecks so I get the magical yellow flag penalty for 3 seconds of pain. Race is a wash from there.

Go to last slot. Qualify p12 in a much faster lobby. Get to p11 and then a track limit penalty in sector 1 drops me back to pain with a known troll (aggressive driver in his thinking). I end up following his trail of mess back up to p11 at the end. No issues for him wrecking another driver, or for people cutting track limits on turn 2 during the first lap, but I just don't know anymore. Could have had a really nice finish, but my track limit penalty was the start of the trouble so really only myself to blame. Maybe better luck in some of the other combos, but with the 4wd mafia out there we shall see.

As long as I get some decent racing it will be ok. Especially if this wonder boy drops to a different split.

I don’t even know what’s going on anymore. The DBR9 had the manoeuvrability of a cruise ship in GTS.
I still find the Vantage corners better, but you can get the DBR9 to rotate by slipping the rears on entry. Mid corner it is still a tanker though.

It is so much quicker in a straight line that on any high speed track it blows the Vantage away. I have both and can pick and choose according to combo, but it has so far been very rare that the Vantage is better.

I didn’t realise you could choose either or car in GT7. What you describe sounds like what I need because I usually like to trail brake in and rotate with the brakes and a bit of slip, so in GTS I usually always had bb 2-3 to the rear, obvs can’t do that now so I’ve been struggling. Most cars feel very stiff with a lot of mid corner understeer.

Buy the DBR9, you’ll love it. It’s probably my favourite Group 3 car to drive (or maybe equal with the RSR).
