Are you sick of the "I have a mature life" argument?

I'm sick of people complaining in general not just those "mature ones", you play video game as entertainment don't let it become your life.

I know it gets old but people invest a lot of time and energy in this game. This website is a testament to that. Also, they invest their money, $60 minimum with some even buying PS3's just for GT5. Add that up with all the time and money we've spent on previous GT's and after 6 years I think we deserve a big step forward. But there is a mountain of undeniable evidence that we've taken a huge step back at the same time. If I'm going to spend my money on a product, I have the right to criticize it when it doesn't live up the promised standards. And it's a fact that what is said on this site reaches the ears of both Sony and PD, the people who took my money and didn't live up to their side of the deal.

Well said 👍

Arrr ... that's the spirit OP. Who needs a wife and kids when they have GT5 and their PS3. Elitists unite! We will bring order to the racing world ...
:grumpy:

Yea man couldn't agree more! Unless this game would become a higher priority than such things as family and so on, there is nothing wrong with doing something you enjoy! And congrats on your success in the game!

Beats me how you can come to the conclusion that those of us who say "we have a life" translates to "Damn it PD, give us a game that we can complete in less than a week!".
I cant speak for others who say the same but, i am one of those who has repeatedly stated "i have a life", what i am trying to say is "i don't have the time to grind away to level up to 40, and certainly don't have the time to race a 24hr enduro...or even a 9 hour enduro, please give us a save and MORE content not less" Get it?

GT4 for me was perfect in the way we progressed, could do the licenses at our own pace and unlock more content instead of this $hit grinding farce, amount of content, saves during championship races, and B-spec option when pitting....why the hell they couldn't just give us a game with as much (preferably more) content as GT4 beats me. i would bet my house and everything in it, B-spec was made into a sub game because of the pi$$ poor content of GT5 to give us the illusion GT5 has more content than what it really has.

As you can see, i want MORE content and i am also not interested in collecting every car in the game in a matter of days, i couldn't careless if i complete the game in weeks, months, years or if i simply never complete it so long as i can play it at my own pace....playing a game at your own pace is a fundamental basic recognised by every game house on the planet proved by the fact that every game i can think of has the save option.

Try to be more understanding and not so assuming.

I want the same things from the game that you want. You were clearly not a whiner, you are just being logical.

I meant guys that said "I have a life, a kid, etc." this game is too hard, too long, too X, etc. Those guys... But anyway, I might be a little upset just because all I read is complaints, but guess I should lighten up.

Ah, i assumed you was trying to say "i have a life and if i can achieve all this then so should you so shut up", maybe i should take my own advice and assume less.

Thank you, but a guy on the thread just made me realize how many hours I spent on GT5, man... Told him that was taboo... :nervous:

This thread needs a pet monkey story.

Speaking of which, I will go to bed now. I enjoy posting late for my local time because I get to find a lot of people from many countries due to time zones. If I post early, I will mostly stick around guys from my dear neighbor country, and stuff... yawn :sly:

i cant relate to the whiners as im young(mid 20's) and single and have no kids and still live with the folks, but i will add one thing though....

people do whine too much on here regarding whats mentioned in this thread and i can understand where they and the OP is coming from, but to me it sounds like the ones who whine dont seem to want to get away from the family life and have some proper 'me time', now i know its only a game, but a lot of you guys are GT fans or so you say, so dedicate some time to it, be it after work or if you work shifts like me, then before work or at weekends etc, you likely not going to be round your family 24/7.....

It's don't matter if you have wife n kids anybody can find time to play no matter what.I'm neither for against it as I have a wife a job etc.... But I always find the time I never say I'm rubbish at gt5 CAUSE I have family.it's no excuse at all.

It's a valid argument really.

"GT5: OVER 1000 CARS TO DRIVE! OHHH YEEAAAHHH!!!"

"but only if you spend months and months grinding out cash"

Huh? Who says they're rubbish at GT5 cause they have a family? Does anyone actually say stuff like that?

some might refer to that reason without actually saying the words, only they know the truth behind the wording...

Ahh, yeah, cos GT5 isn't really a driving simulator, it's a game of patience! Admittedly, I'm rubbish at that! ;)

Are you guys sick of the "I have a life, a job, a wife, a kid, etc..." argument?

Come on, these guys think they deserve to get an overly easy GT5 just because they "have a life", and always justify their lack of skill for the game with that.

For the info, I'm 37, I have a job, I have a wife, I have two kids, and I'm A-Spec 40 and B-Spec 40 now, with 1226 cars. 99% complete, missing just two trophies, working on the others now... Yeah, no problem, family's cool too, really cool, there is time for everything in life people.

If you are so mature, why bother playing "kids" stuff?

I'm really sick of that argument, really. Too bad, you "grown ups" just discovered modern video games yesterday...

GT5 is awesome, yes, flawed, illogical, but awesome in the final balance, you should try a bit harder, or maybe even your kids can help you out... ;)

i agree. i have a job work 12 hours a day and still have time for my wife and kids and get some sleep. while i am working my wife is letting bob run and when i get home i do a few a spec races.

I got a job that requires long hours and I also have a life outside of my playstation. My issue is being required to leave the playstation on for days at a time before I can finish a 24 race. I can't be spending every minute when I'm not at work racing. That's my only gripe with this game...endurance saves ftw. It'd be nice if I had a second person to share the driving load but I do not.

the point...

you've missed it...

yeah a save would be nice in the endurance race.

Not quite true mate, GT5 is a game of repetition and that is where all of the games problems lie it has nothing to do with having time its more to do with can I realy be bothered racing the same races over and over again.
If progress in the game was better thought out and had more track's and less cars then people would not be on here complaining.

As I stated in another post.....

"There once was a concept that has long be lost of actually working hard to achieve something. The Mentality of many today has been shaped by the various social programs that have been instituted through government schools and hand me outs. Not to mention the ones spoiled by parents that have given them everything that their hearts desire.

Its like the teenager that gets their parents car for the first time and dogs it all over town not having a care in the world about the wear and tear on the car. Let them have to work hard for long hours to save and buy that same car and you see a different result. That person now understands how much blood, sweat, and tears it took to get that car and treats it much better than the previous example.

The point is you will never appreciate that duped car because you didn't work for it. And you will treat it like crap. This type of mindset will also effect your real life.Good luck!"

I'm pretty sure the majority of F1 drivers didn't work in a supermarket to fund their driving careers. Most of them won't have done a day's 'work' in their lives. Motorsport is the preserve of rich. I've spent enough time in race paddocks to see plenty of spoilt brats in fast cars. I don't want GT5 to resemble some sort of work simulator. What next? People wanting GT5 credits to be linked to your real wage packet?

I'd like enough escapism in GT5 to drive a large selection of cars without endless driving around one track to 'earn' them. How does that mirror real life or improve your chances in life? Please credit most people with enough brains to distinguish GT from reality.

BTW plenty of successful people 'cheat' in real life as well. They are probably your boss.

Speaking of which, I will go to bed now.

Hmm,I'm disappointed...just when we thought You're going to say:

"Speaking of which,I'll go and do a 9 hour endurance, while my kids are in bed"💡

:P ;)

I believe some people do not have time to grind for expensive car's like the 787b or xj13 and would rather trade them,so yes we do have other things to do,especially when in college with a job etc.Lots of stuff to do but not fully mature.Just my OPINION though so don't take it seriously:)

Live and let live is a great moto to embrace. We all have different desires, constraints, motivations and lifestyles and as a result the notion that there is one 'right way' to play GT5 or that anyone can complete everything no matter their personal circumstances is just not constructive or realistic.

For someone to say they do not have time is not whining, it is just a statement of fact. If in their view a certain feature would make it easier for them to enjoy or make it a better experience that is just an expression of a wish, not a whine. I doubt any of them seriously expect every wish to be answered, however they should be entitled to express an opinion of what they would like to see based on their own experience and circumstances without being vilified for it.

From my own point of view I am happy to chip away at GT5 as when time allows. I have 2 children (one 4 year old one 5 week old), a full time job and I manage to grab around two hours a day between 11pm and 1am when the rest of the family are asleep.

My complaint, and I suspect the one shared by most people in the same boat as me, is not that we want to finish the game in record time, but that we want to be able to finish the game full stop.

For me the A-Spec endurance races are going to remain forever uncompleted due to the absence of a save feature. I am not asking for a save feature to make it easier I am asking for it so I can actually complete every part of the game.

Maybe it is just me, but asking for a game to fit in with your lifestyle seems a slightly more reasonable request than asking people to change their lifestyle to fit a game.

Im 14, and i think this game is easy, why would a parent with (probaply) some driving experience think its hard??

My 18 year old thought it was easy as well, until he found the Vettle challenge, does not do any licenses or special events nor does he do any of the events that are restricted, like NASCAR. He just cranks up the performance, slaps on some racing soft tires, turns on automatic and wins the A-Spec stuff, and tells me it is easy. Of course he always wants to borrow my cars to do this with. :)

+1
Im retired but still have a full and active life outside of computers/consoles. Taking 3 days to do one 4 hour endurance race and having to leave the PS3 switched on all that time is not good either for the PS3 or the environment, having a save option would at least allow you to switch the thing off and minimise the added risk of fire by having it run 24/7. It's not complaining it is having a concern for one's family and knowing there is a better way of doing things.
How many PS3s are left switched on for days across the world because you can't save in the middle of a long endurance race?
