One of the more disgusting things about the outcome is, how much money (ie, taxpayer dollars) are going to be spent on this piece of worthless excrement?

I was tracking this online yesterday. Probably the best possible outcome for the 3 victims.

Very surprised to see Michelle Knight at the hearing. She was in there the longest and had the toughest time. That took guts to look her captor in the face and tell him off in her statement.

Now only if they stick him in with the general population. Once his fellow inmates hear about what he did, Ariel will get a dose of his own medicine. Heck, they'll probably shorten up his sentence.

Turning into someone's bitch in prison would be a better fate for him than death penalty.

No I'm still not American, despite using the "bitch in prison" term.

Yeah most likely, unless they pull what they did with other high profile convicts.

^ Exactly what I mean

I'm not American either, and I use that term too.

There are some general messed up folks in the world, I can't even begin to wrap my head around things like this on any level.

One thing is karma will always pay back 10 fold, he won't even have a clue what he is in store for but I don't see him being alive that long in prison at all.

What really bothers me is how things like this fall to the side BUT someone with clean record gets booked for the smallest crap sometimes. I will never fully understand the world we live in and sometimes believe we need to stop worrying about hurting feelings or stepping on toes sometimes.

I really hope they made the soap slippery for this guy. What a disgrace to his family, and the entire human race.

God, gets grating to see the same "what a monster, hope he gets raped in prison" comments in every one of these threads.

How exactly did this fall to the side, he got sentenced for twice as long as white people have knew America existed. And how exactly is this guy indicative of "the world we live in"? It isn't exactly a common crime. Who's feelings are being worried about? They put this guy in jail for the rest of his life where he'll do hard time. Everyone's borderline excitedly talking about him getting raped in prison and how bad it'll be. Don't really see much compassion for this guy.

Little change of him being raped or attacked in prison. He will serve his time in solitary confinement.

1000 years? @messing about in court.

Just give him 100. Its more, you know, not completely pointless.

It's been stated before, the 1000 years was tacked on to make sure he never sees a parole board. It's too make sure this guy never rejoins society.

I think we all realize that there is no punishment severe enough, and can be legally executed on someone who was found guilty of crime like this.

Only good I see in this sentencing, from the stories I've read, he sounds like a man who believes that he is the most important person, and that his way is the only way. For a man that possess such caliber of selfishness, prison will be a change of pace, and he will never get to call the shots again. In prison, the system will call the shots. You won't even get a say in what you want for lunch, or what time. He will submit until the day he dies.

and I'm not gonna lie, I was touched.
This neighbor dude. What a character. Great job though man. You did good. 👍

I feel relieved to have heard that all three women in captivity were set free after a decade of custody inside the villainous man's house, along with their children, No sympathies that he must have deserved to be sent out to his doom for what he has soiled his own hands in return. :(

It's to deter him from ever achieving a parole hearing (possibly after 20% of his sentence began, if good behavior).

Wow...glad this didn't turn into three years of waiting for some sort of justice for someone who confesses to his crimes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression in these cases that the insane amount of years sentenced are a result of the counts a person is charged with & the number of years generally given to each of the specific counts.

In this case, I would assume 1,000+ years is the sum of the years sentenced with each of those 329 counts.
Charles Ramsey gets free burgers for life from over a dozen Ohio restaurants. Also he gets a burger named after him at the restaurant where he washes dishes:

I also saw a report that McDonalds offered him free food for a year as well.

Note to self, if ever interviewed in a major case, throw in my favorite restaurant. :P

Correct me if I'm wrong as well, but I think that the maximum amount of years is based off of the crimes he committed but they use it to deter him of asking for parole.

So basically, they wanted to make sure he never has a chance for parole, and since he committed enough crimes to qualify for over 1000 years, they added that on there.

If he had only committed enough crimes for 300 years worth they would've put that on there instead.

What I'm trying to say is that I think you are right in what you said, but that they use the fact that they can sentence him for 1000 years to make sure he doesn't get parole

I hope I wrote that to where it makes sense..

Single bullet to the head costs a few cents.
A hanging is also good.

Agreed. Might as well waste him than spend tax dollars to keep him incarcerated.

We don't hang and quarter people at high noon in town square anymore.

I'd get into the whole bit about it not being the actual exection but the legal fees that make it cost so much money, but it's clear you just want to see him put to death because he's such a monster.

It is not like he was framed or he was wrongly accused.

I'm not suggesting that Castro is innocent, but it wouldn't be the first time that someone, thought to be guilty beyond all doubt, has been found to be innocent while on death row. There are likely many more who went to their deaths knowing that they were innocent.

You don't play with human lives. The death penalty will always carry the risk of the wrong person dying, and because of that it should have been abolished decades ago.

You have to be kidding me. You blame him for being a terrible person in this world and you just want him dead? He'll hardly cost any money in jail and if you don't like it then you're welcome to move.

The government spends money on far dumber things than keeping a man in prison. Wishing death upon him makes you just as much of a monster as he is. The whole country hates him and he's never going to see freedom again. Seems like a fair enough punishment to me.

I totally understand the sentiments though. Prison system is too fat. This is purely my opinion, but if you are in prison for violating the rights of others, you should be put to work in prison, at the very least 40 hours a week. If it were up to me, they'll be working six days a week, with minimal recreation & entertainment.

Where I live, criminals often won't even see any jail time, because the correctional facilities are "overcrowded". They have this brand new facility in town, but it's empty, because they don't have the money to keep it open.

I certainly don't get the impression that it is cheap to house prisoners.

So you would like to see prison inmates forced to work? Or in other words, slavery. Wat.

Considering that their freedom and rights have already been taken away by simply being in prison it does make a certain amount of sense for them to be doing something useful, if done correctly then it could be quite useful for rehabilitation. (I'm not in anyway saying that Castro should be rehabilitated though)
