I have mixed feelings on tuning. I think it mainly has to do with this car in general. If I didn't have any help with tuning on this car I would be at a loss. I like the idea of being able to make setup but sometimes I feel like the race cars don't really need to be bothered with as they are usually competitive right out of the box with stock tune. I had this convo last night actually and I think GT5 and GT6 had the tuning the best where you could lock away certain tuning things. As in, if you only wanted people to be able to mess with suspension only you could lock everything else. So on and so forth. So really it comes down to the game itself and not really a problem with the series.

My next complaint is biased so take it with a grain of salt. I dislike all of the BLue Moon tracks. Lol

couldn't have said it better...

I totally understand the position about not wanting tuning, but particularly with this car, it's needed. The stock gearbox is such crap.

Also, I understand most people don't have the time or willpower to sit there and tune but there's a whole section dedicated to it on these forums. And in that, there are multiple people that maintain tunes for many cars, this one included. For example, if you took Praiano's tune for this car, you'd gain at more than 90% of the speed that I've gained from the tune that I'm running. I'll post my tune later tonight when I do some practice running.

As far as specifics to this series, personally, I like longer races with strategy. Maybe it goes against the spirit of this series but I'd like either two longer races or one long race where fuel also comes into play. But again, that's my personal preference and not really knock on this series.

Longer races, you should check out Snail Endurance. Like @THRASH Super Formula series, you don’t have to be an active Snail to run. Simply just reply before 8pm EST tonight to race with us.

Also, we have our ARL Gr.3 Series that runs on Saturday nights! Join us, it is spec but it’s a ton of fun, and lots of close racing. 3ish pit stops a night, and fuel is always a factor.

Not looking to join too many other series, I'm close to my max. You actually referred me to this series from the Snail SF series but that died.

Thanks for all the input.

I agree with a lot of points everyone has brought up.

6 races at blue moon is a bit much. When i was testing it seemed a lot more fun.

The tuning seems to be a catch 22. The car seems to need tuning to make it driveable but it seems to really spread the field out.

The track problem ia easily solved. But the only i answer i see to tuning is either leave it as is or switch the series to either the sf19 or mercedes f1

Fun series dynamics
Not a huge fan of tuning but would maybe like to try it with a different car before I rule it out or just suspension tuning (if that's even possible)

Yes that for sure is why I have mixed feelings on tuning. This car needs it bad and I think if tuning wasn't allowed then the races might have been more disastrous. Like PA said, tuning is a catch 22. Just needs to be tried out a few more times on different things before one can truly rule it out.

Here's what I've settled with for a tune. The transmission is flipped. Here is the procedure if you are unsure how to flip the transmission:
  1. Reset the transmission to default, then select Fully Customized
  2. Set the Final Gear to 5.500
  3. Set the Top Speed (Auto Set) to 155 mph
  4. Set the individual gears to the numbers in my setup and then set the Final Gear
Looking like I'll hit a mid to low 37 in qualifying with race pace being mid to low 38s.

That third race was looking like a top 4 for me....till I did a wheelie down the front straight after tapping the wall. @FD3SSpiritR i think your line + your setup is what is fast. I was about .2 slower in your setup. But it did feel better mid corner. I can’t bring my self to dive this open wheel car off the banking like that into the last turn(I know it’s a video game but my brain won’t let me). I was making speed for a bit braking a bit sooner and flatter and backing up my apex a bit. My best was a 38.6~. I also kept missing my top speed settings. Sooo. Yeah. Having fun. Looking forward to getting through this season. I think it will feel like an accomplishment regardless where I finish in the end. This car is wild...

@FD3SSpiritR your little move to the pits took me off guard. I tried to follow and made @TexasJDC laugh historically in the party chat when I slammed into pit entrance wall. I really wanted to see if I had the speed to stay with you so I tried to follow. Oh well, in all honesty I was debating on even running the final race, so when that happened, there was no point in me trying to finish. Good racing though, your speed is far beyond what I’m capable of.
