A few bits from my first few hours with AC.

I never did like the tire noise, I've had mine turned way down (PC). It can help I guess with determining brake lockup but it's not very realistic.
Otherwise, hope you enjoy AC. Certainly different than the normal run of the mill console racers.

OK here goes. I won't give any kind of in depth view as have played with a few cars for not very long..but..

After a very quick install to my xbox I loaded up the game and it all felt slick, this talk on youtube of bare bones didn't even register, it was nice to have a simple UI very reminiscent of old school race games in fact which i liked.
So first car was the Lotus 98, silverstone track.... try to select 1st and nothing from my TX wheel...ahh, you have to select wheel in options...no biggy.

So chose my wheel then take a BMW e30 out, a car i love on PCars...
Graphics, hey you know what, not sure what all the fuss was about, it works it looks pretty good and not a million miles off Forza, HONESTLY and with some of the best windscreen effects EVER on console..IMO..
I like the graphics, actually the screen tearing you don't notice once you start lapping, its there, dont get me wrong but no way a deal breaker IMO.

But the drive..... oh man.. this is utter utopia. The E30 is a joy, the feel the need to keep lapping the addiction. It is better in the physics department than PCars so far IMO. PCars is great and i will go try both E30 on each game back to back later on tonight, but AC you feel way more what the car is doing 'under' you.
Its amazing...just utterly amazing IMO, i am a car nut, racing nut and have 2 brothers who are racing drivers and I have done many track days etc etc, i may not have been F1 WDC but i know what a car should feel like and how to relate that to a game.
This game is FANTASTIC!
Its true what they told me, the driving is sublime, I only hope this won't ruin PCars for as i love that game, hopefully now i know what good FFB feels like i can see where i may need to tweek on PCars. AC is the DiRT rally of road racing and it rocks guys, it rocks...and i'm on xbox!!
For sure its no where near a bad launch like PCars was, in fact its not even IMO broken anywhere aside maybe the slight screen tear.

Back on it tonight and i'm in this for the long haul i'll take any DLC they throw at me...cheers.

Tire noise in real life... real vs assetto

Your very first experience with Assetto Corsa was with the Ferrari FXX-K with Traction Control turned off?!?! You da man!!! :D Since you're not in here screaming about how the game kept stupidly spinning you out again and again, you obviously know how to drive. Just a suggestion, but don't ever use Stability Control. You clearly don't need it. SC is a fake drivers aid. It's even worse than Skid Recovery Force is in GT6, in my opinion. You're going to be just fine my friend! 👍

Thanks dude. I race regularly with SNAIL which can be found here on GTPlanet and is a non tuning, non assist league currently using GT6. Before I downloaded AC I had just come from a league practice session driving the Audi R8 LMP car so the FXXK felt very stable in comparison!

Dopedog, genuinely happy that you approve! So glad that you just get it!

That's fantastic to hear mate! I know you had a lot of doubts about the game and were maybe a bit suspicious of all us PC guys claiming how the things AC does right makes up for the things it doesn't do well or doesn't do at all, now you see what we were on about. And you can see how the cars are so good and so unique that it (sorta) makes up for not having 500 of them. I get the impression you could spend entire weeks lapping that E30 and not even think about other cars. :) There's something intangible about it that makes it more than the sum of its parts. It's not perfect, it's not the greatest, it has room for improvement, but it is enjoyable and pleasing. Great to hear you're satisfied with the graphics, and maybe even pleased by them, and that the slight tearing isn't an issue. You've got a lot of fun ahead of you, hopefully some of the other readers who were having their own doubts will take comfort from your experience and dive in the pool with you. I'm confident that the more you get to know AC and Kunos, the more you'll love both of them.

Welcome to the club chap!

I'm glad to hear, and see that this game is a gem. I am really struggling with the game on PS4 at the mo' such positivity will keep me having a few more goes

I feel like I've heard enough to just go ahead and download this thing. I'd still like to hear more about the DLC plans because the unreleased content has too much stuff I can't ignore, but hopefully it's not too far away. Only problem right now is that the weather has been unusually warm the past few days and my gaming space then turns into an overheating reactor. My PS4 fan doesn't like that. :D

The forecast for tomorrow looks promising though. 👍

I have discovered I am very, very, very good at crashing the Yellowbird.

Oh and 100% mechanical damage is brutal, clip the banner in an open-wheel car and your done.

Footage of my idiocy in both areas will be made public later today.

I believe there are settings for the turbo boost which might help making things less dramatic.

Well, it is supposed to be a tail happy car at the best of times in real life. Can imagine it must be a nightmare to drive at the limit constantly.

I had kind of written this one off, figured I should just wait for GT Sport. But based on what I am reading in here, I think I will re-consider. Just watched a video of the e30 M3, and it looks delicious. It sounds awfully similar to the real thing too.

Lol you think the PS4 is bad, my pc uses about double the watts, that is a lot of heat, while it is great in the winter it is a beast in the summer warming up my room 5degrees in 30 minutes if i close the door and windows. Upside to consoles i guess lol

That reaction is starting to become a trend it seems.

I can only imagine but I don't really have this issue unless the summer weather gets brutal. My display and amplifier also add to the heat accumulation, so I can't really blame the PS4 too much.

Excusing guys who are just experiencing AC for the first time and being joyful, the truth is that AC and pCARS both have good and bad points. As a sim racing fan, the only sensible thing to do is own both and enjoy the best bits of both.

Where AC wins over pCARS is in the "naturalness" and connected feeling while driving. However things like track list, career mode, weather, graphics are all better in pCARS. So hotlap the laser scanned Nordschleife in AC then switch to a random weather race against the AI at Bathurst in pCARS and get the best of both worlds ;)

P.S. One experience I recommend to all newcomers to AC is to lap the Lotus Elise around Magione. The first time I heard the suspension squeak going over the bumps on the back straight (all the way back during the tech preview) made me realize just what lengths Kunos go to when simulating a car.

You nailed it 👍
Assetto Corsa,Project Cars and Dirt Rally on PS4..happy times to be a gamer :)
I drive with no assist and with the T300 and AC shines.
The FFB feels fantastic once you change it from 100 to 45, that road feeling 👍
The graphics is better than I thought but not as good as Project Cars ( ISR Review.. )
I like both Project Cars and AC, you really should own both :)

xXJojjeXx

Everyone should watch the VVV preview IMO, its very very good. Also they add at the end that they tried XBOX one after patch and all stuttering is gone. There's an agenda constantly of PS4 owners trying to validate their personal choice. Its rather pathetic.
Wow

I've had my pre-ordered copy since teusday, and was hoping that the cars with the little cloud in the image would come available today.
Because I really want to drive the NISMO GT-R, but it seems they are still unavailable :(

Did you enter your code? What version did you buy?

how to get access to the GTR Nismo & GT86 etc on PSN version ? Even with the gift cars of the pre order i didn't have access to this two cars , there is a small cloud on top of each and i get a error message when i try to use it , i don't remember what it said but about something on maintenance... will this two be in a futur DLC too ?
