I spent lunch hour bombing around Spa in the SLS AMG in a couple of race weekends. That car and track combo is a dream. The physics are a dream. It's the first time I've felt like I'm actually driving a real car. PCars is crap in comparison (sorry PCars guys!).

Anyone in my company who sees it though basically thinks it looks a bit geeky and dry and boring-looking.

If we could have these physics, with a more interesting game, (and better visuals) it would be incredible.

edit: also, leaderboards for lap times would be so useful...
Totally agree, in terms of atmosphere I've seen more exciting damp towels.

On PC all the other sims pretty much only offer racing cars, I think AC wanted to be a bit different and offer street cars since none of the other sims really do. That's how they approach most things, they don't want to be a carbon copy of what's come before, they want to branch out and try to stand out by doing different things (which is sometimes good, sometimes not so good). And again, it also comes down to licensing. Manufacturers seem keen to get their current road car offerings into a modern sim and it's quite likely that in order for Kunos to get the racing cars in the game they also are asked to include some street cars.

Personally I like that the street cars are there, I can race race cars around circuits in R3E, rF2, iRacing, GTR, etc. but sometimes I just want to grab a street car and cruise around Lake Louise or the Nords while blaring some tunes and sipping a beer and that's such a different experience than white knuckle racing, it can be relaxing. None of the other sims really offer that experience and sometimes it's a nice change of pace.

Just my opinion, of course.
That's my bag baby! It's nice to cruise and race for a stretch then cruise etc with your mates. This is why I need a pc but really don't want one.

It's actually quite a lot of fun, not sluggish. I thought the same before i tried it but it kind of impressed me.
I haven't driven it yet but I was surprised at how popular it was on the official forums, lots of people were surprised by how much they like it. I need to give it a go soon, could be real fun for racing.
I was actually a little bit mad when I heard we were getting the Maserati Levante. Truthfully. Yeah, it was free, but that means time was being spent on the Levante that could have been spent on a Lamborghini Huracan Avio instead. :D Then I remembered the world didn't revolve around me plus I have no clue what Kunos might be contractually obligated to do. Since it was now on my system I figured I might as well try it. It won't be a Top 10 car in my rotation, but it was 100 times more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Plus, I'm sure some model of the Porsche Cayenne is coming so we should have two SUVs that we can race head to head. At least on the PC we do have access to a ton of rally tracks, simple dirt roads, snow covered tracks, etc... I can finally see why so many people like it.

I do find it funny how many times I've read snotty PC sim types spout on about why Forza is a kids arcade game and using SUV's as a reference, but now ones in AC its suddenly the most amazing thing in the world of sim racing...such is life.
Seriously? I've seen my fair share of PC snobbery when reading sim racing forums, but I've never seen someone mention SUVs being a factor in those people's opinions of why they feel the need to bash console sims. Geez... I guess it shouldn't surprise me...there are just so many fools on sim racing forums. :boggled:

I'm exactly the same way. I enjoy a race probably as much as anybody, however, I actually prefer just driving with like minded people. No checkered flags. The only point is to enjoy our cars, maybe show off a little bit...

Even if there were not a single bug in the console version, sadly it would still be like a completely different game than the PC version. There are so many things that didn't land on the console version and I think that really sucks for the console players. So, @lancia delta hf if you can afford it get yourself a PC that can run Assetto Corsa. Heck, you probably use a computer at home for surfing the web and stuff, right? Get a laptop. It's portable, it'll be your home computer and your gateway to Assetto Corsa heaven. Just make sure it has HDMI or Display Port output ports! :D

If you like cruising, there are so many layouts to blow hours on. Heck, there is a WIP of Targa Florio which is 72km long! 45 miles of driving that loops around. This particular layout isn't the greatest quality because it's only like version 0.5 right now, but it's totally driveable. Anyway, if it wouldn't be a hardship and you are really digging AC, I say you do it. You don't need some crazy water cooled i7 CPU, 2x980ti in SLI with 32GB RAM either. Fairly modest settings run it just fine. Come join the cult, I mean, the community!! ;)

Personally, I'd take an SUV over another Lambo any day, but that's just me. Sacrilege, I know, but Lambos haven't done anything for me since the Diablo, and every model since the Diablo has basically looked the same. The Miura I'll flog all day though, that sexy, sexy, sexy beast! :P

 I don't even know who you are anymore!!! :grumpy: LOL I'm just kidding. To be honest, I would much, much rather a Diablo than a Huracan. Ridox has some superb Diablo setups in his GT6 garage. There's like 6+ different model's that he spec'd out. I would drive that La Sierra layout for hours, just switching to a different Diablo after a while.

@mister dog Is that your video? Very nice! Do a 10 lap race there...

Nah not my vid besides that would be way too stressful for me lol. When it's released i'll probably just cruise something slower on there (and probably crash somewhere in km 14 :P).

Sad thing is this is the most active server in America and it's always on practice.
Thats the point of the tourist layout, it's made for track days ;)

I'm not even sure you can race on the Tourist layout? It's for hot lapping only. Maybe you can online but offline I don't think it shows up in the Race options.
This is more of a comment that people aren't racing and this is the most popular server, making it difficult to have races besides GT2/3 at Spa.

Given the layout and the car park start I can image a race would be a bit messy to say the least.

The AI may not be perfect, but after around 5 or 6 restarts I just had a fantastic race round Spa in the Nismo GT3, AI on medium. Made my way up to first on the last lap but then got done on the last chicane; right up the inside from the AI, deep n' hard. Was a good move though.

One thing I've learned from the AI in this game as opposed to pCARS is to show them a bit more respect and only go for a pass when it's sensible. In pCARS I'd go for a pass whenever I saw even a hint of a gap, and it mostly paid off; however in AC I feel I have to be way more careful, especially trying to not make rear contact going round slow corners as it often ends with a spin out.

So yeah, it's often frustrating carnage at the start, and they often tag you, but there's certainly a race to be had, even with our old version of the AI.

When you get the new AI they'll be a bit better at the start and also be more likely to make moves, hold lines, and keep up after you overtake them. 👍

Still, it is only 3 tracks more with what is essentially just one car in F1, I personally find most F1 tracks boring. Having said that if any non race series games come out without the ring, spa etc then buyers will complain why isn't this track in game. I think the best thing for Kunos to do is try to release 4 or 5 fantasy city or mountain pass tracks so they can skip the lasers scanning process and knock a few tracks out quicker. I like to get away from circuit racing when I just want to chill and drive, hence why I drive on the ring so much, every car I have driven so far is awesome on that track. We have Black cat coming, red bull, another as yet unknown track, and Marco said he'd consider another fantasy track maybe in tuscany.

so its 21 tracks, 15 of which arent in all games. (taking spa, RBR, monza, barcelona, monaco out) 15 tracks you arent seeing elsewhere is great to experience.AC needs to release more tracks, theres no way around that...laser scanned if possible. I dont blame them, just wish it was given the attention it needs and not here is another 30 car pack, here is the free suvs.etc

Believe me Trento bondone looks like crap graphically. It was ported over straight from Netkar pro if i'm not mistaken and would look really out of place with the rest of the game.

They would need to redo it entirely.

I'd still take it any day of the week. Loved it in netkar pro. So so awesome to drive.

Yes ..... more tracks is a must have .
Than if a new track comes out please not with 15000 different layout .

I've said this before, most car packs for AC have been accompanied by a new track. Maybe we'll see another track by the time the final Porsche pack gets released.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought Kunos had certain people who did 3D car creations and certain people who did track creations and they didn't change sides. If you're a car guy, you're a car guy. If you're a track guy, you're a track guy. Does anyone know whether that is true or not?

Would you prefer each track only have the one base layout?

100% true with Kunos.
