Yep, the track map is nothing but a distraction, and once you turn it off it forces you to learn a track the proper way using landmarks and features. I ditched the HUD in GT6, pCARS and DR and It upped my enjoyment immensely (DR's course note arrows were especially distracting). Just wish I could lose the stupid 'other car' arrows in AC and as dopedog says the race-start lights. pCARS does a better job on the visual immersion side but I'm loving the feel of AC.

I use the minimal HUD and I like those arrows. Helps me avoid others, I don't like to look left and right.

An option to turn them off would be nice though. I really like the radar mod you see alot of people use on the PC version.

You're too polite. My motto is "Never look left, right or back"

@dopedog You very much present as having a persecution complex, which I suspect will ultimately render your voice all but unheard. Though I do recognise the nigh on inescapable futility of pointing out suspect attitudes (persecution, as it appears in the fantasy) to a person with such a complex.

Kunos are surely not withholding Assetto's true potential for the sake of punishment, mockery, short-lived and short-sighted monetary gain - and surely what will resonate with them is logical requests with logical expectations in regards to turnaround times. By reacting emotionally about the game's shortfalls (both justified, and not), you only serve to reinforce/initiate the realisation of what you allege you and your cohorts are unfairly being branded by. It's a horrendously sulky and butt hurt attitude that completely betrays it's own purported ideals and standards.

To those that can see the big picture - well done, and remain steadfast in what you expect to see in future updates. You are the antidote to the "great unwashed" out there that can't muster even a modicum of rationalisation that would provide worthy developers a crucial "stay of execution". I look forward to the gleeful reactions when console Assetto gets some flesh on them bones.

@ LeMansAid And you have an over inflated view of yourself in your use of prose. Its a game, I discuss it in a gaming context, no point talking about the true worries of the wider world on a thread about AC. Or should i be discussing Syria or the US Presidential elections etc?
I will discuss a game here as i feel that's sort of the point.
There are far more important matters in both my personal life and the wider world than AC but i feel it'd be wrong to drag that into this thread for public discussion about what is essentially a toy.
Your over blown musings and hyperbole is now on my ignored list as well.

Wow, post of the year. I'm overjoyed to realize there is still some intelligence in this world. Thank you.

Does the abrupt teleporting back to the pits also happen in the PC version of the game? This really is something that Kunos should fix - surely it can't be that hard ... & it really is a jarring way to end a race. :indiff:

No. Once you cross the line the screen fades to black and then fades back in to find you in the pits with a result screen showing. I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Change to what though? The race has finished, continue on and drive round a lap then drive into the pits? the sim part of a race after you cross the line is finished. I would rather the time and effort be put in to the elements that are needed. I can't remember a race ending in any racer/sim game that didn't pull you from the track after you crossed the finish line and then took you to another screen while you waited for everyone to finish or a preset time to pass(or the others waited for you lol)

Actually, I can't think of any racing game that has done it so abruptly. While I agree that it doesn't effect the actual driving experience, many people have complained about this & it seems like it would be a relatively easy thing to improve.

Agreed not many yards get covered after the line, so what would be a better after race sequence?

Not sure what you're asking/wanting. On the PC the screen fades to black after you cross the line and then you appear in the pits with a results screen showing, so about five seconds after you finish the race you're seeing the results screen and can move on to the next race or whatever. For online races it fades to black and then places you in the pits where you wait for everyone else to finish. Sounds to me like the console end of race scenario isn't working as planned and I'd expect it to eventually behave like the PC version does. I wouldn't think the current behavior is an intentional design choice but rather just another feature that suffered due to the rushed release. But I don't know for sure.

I've not asked for anything different, pc finish sounds the same as console which doesn't bother me. I would like the resources put into online and telemetry but also appreciate everyone has different priorities.

On PS4, your abruptly dropped into the pits and you have to wait for all cars to finish before you can leave the race. If you leave to soon you will not keep your progress, I have waited over 90 seconds a few times....they will fix it I'm sure.

Also on PS4, if you restart hot laps or races your car is dropped very harshly from about a metre of the ground, not sure yet if this affects damage if it's enabled, but at the very least it adds unwanted and unneeded wear to my wheel.

The waiting is a fixed time unless all entries finish which ever comes first, this is a adjustable parameter in other titles but all to often posters get a touched flamed for comparisions. Apart from the pc having fade out/in the consoles basically the same. I'm not sure they will fix/improve anything but hope they do because it's what some people want.

On PC it's not very abrupt though and you don't have to wait for all the cars to finish (unless you're online), so there's room for improvement. They're working on fixing lots of things, this will probably be one of them because it sounds a bit untidy. Your car doesn't really get dropped onto the grid on PC either. It does do the open door thing though, which was a recent addition and is a bit silly and could be done away with IMO. I think it only does it in the pits though, not when you're on the grid for the race start.

Another title did something similar was it the grid series?

Not sure what they could do, cross the line drive a few yard skip the pit bit and just fade out/in to a timing screen until adjustable timer runs down or all entries finish. Not saying l want that as i'm happy with the way it is. The trouble is using the car door sequence as an example is liked/disliked, it's not a game breaker but improved lobby's and add telemetry is a game changer for some.

I'm sure all that stuff will come too but it sounds like the race ending needs addressed as well because I've seen a lot of complaints about it. Not saying it should be top priority but it needs looked at so hopefully they'll make it like the PC version at some point.

It is basically as per pc now though, there is no fade out/in it just cuts from track to pits, bosch

Right, I understand that. But the fade makes it less abrupt and on PC you don't have to sit and wait for all the other cars to finish (when playing offline). There have been a lot of complaints about those two issues so it would be in Kunos interest to smooth them out at some point. I'd like to say it would be an easy thing for them to fix but I work with computers and know that nothing is ever as easy as it should be.

I get the impression my posts were coming across wrong. I'm in no way trying to argue or debate with you mate, just providing information on how it is on PC and will hopefully be on consoles at some point. I understand you're opinion is that other things should take priority and I'm not debating that, I'm sure some would agree with you and some would say it is a priority for them, everyone wants different things and nobody is any more wrong or right than anyone else. 👍
