Here is online players in open lobbies on a few PS4 games tonight between 7pm and 7:15pm est.

144 players; F1 2016
123 players; NASCAR Heat
79 players; Project Cars
8 players; Assetto Corsa (6 in Drift/ 2 in Race)
7 players; Dirt Rally (Rally Cross)

F1 2016, meh! The people who love arcade games. Nearly enough 100% throttle and get away with sloppy mistakes.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I personally don't really care about night driving and I especially don't care about rain. It's hard enough for these games to get driving right on dry tar. Wet pavement? I would never, ever purposely use rain as a setting. I probably wouldn't even use night...but who knows? I didn't really care for it in GT6. I can't remember ever setting the time of day to night time. It would always be someone else's decision in a room I was in, or something like that. I know they're desired by many - just giving my personal feeling on those two things.

Interesting to hear about preferences and priorites; I wouldn't buy a game that didn't have transitional time and weather offered somewhere let alone a game that didn't at least have night, wet, dirt or snow. Even if you're only out on the track no more than 5-10 minutes at a time, the world isn't in a continuously stagnant state so why should a sim be. Give me some variety.

I've driven enough miles on older console games where the sun was in the exact same place lap after lap to bore me to tears.

It never ceases to amaze me how game devs spend so much time making the tracks, cars, & physics so realistic, but then roll out the same tired old arcade fantasy penalty clichés!

To be fair, I do like (appreciate) that with AC if there is any car contact at or near a corner then the penalty is cancelled. Usually no point because the AI has already speared you into the nearest wall or sand trap :-(

Also with GT6 (usually) if you do not gain an advantage with the corner cut then the penalty is (usually) not applied BUT they then **** it right up by having vague track limits! :-(

We all live in hope that one day some dev will get it right.......... sigh.....................

The problem is being Kunos such a small team, they cant focus on huge challenges as rain, night or dinamic time or weather. Also, physics absorb such a huge amount of resources the challenge is even bigger.

Assetto corsa with rain, night and dinamic weather...

Its not about being a small team...
Kunos before assetto corsa made NetKar Pro,who got rain in it..

But for assetto corsa they maked(Stefano) an complete new engine and he said it's way to complicated to put rain and wet surfaces in it,also said that it's really difficult to simulate the behaviour of a car on wet surfaces, because he just dont want to lower the grip levels like other devs do in other games.

About rain he talked in one of his streaming videos, but don't now anymore wich one.

I totally understand the desire to have rain and a working 24 hour cycle for night driving as well as day. My biggest problem is I think driving in rain is terrible. Perhaps it's because my only experience with driving in the rain is GT6 and their dry driving left a lot to be desired. Anyway, I think Dev's have such a difficult time trying to provide a fairly realistic driving simulation on a dry surface. As much as I love the way cars feel in Assetto Corsa, I have a big feeling driving in the rain would be awful. I suppose I should lighten up on my opposition to night time driving. If they included both of those features in an update I wouldn't be upset or anything like that...I just probably wouldn't ever use those modes. But, if makes most of the community happy, then I'm all for it.

Racing in the rain should be great and a totally fresh experience. Problem is not much devs managed to replicate it right so far.

PCARS had rain, but it felt like driving in the dry almost to me. When i would have suspected the car would start to slide in sweeping corners and when being rough on the wheel it didn't, and when i didn't expect it, it suddenly did..

F1 2016 has been one of the recent games that got the feeling somewhat right even though its basically a simcade.
So to summarize if devs of 'sim' racing games like AC would want to implement it, they better do it good and i suppose physics wise its a whole new ballgame.

Just what Stefano explained in one of his streamings...It's complicated to simulate the car behaviour on wet surfaces.. simulate good aquaplaning and so on..

It's not only downgrade the grip levels of the car and tarmac that some other games do.

But, it would be great to have a good dinamic rain climate, with the track getting wet in an realistic progress way..puddles with more or less depth that really influence on the behaviour of the car.. progresive drying of the tarmac.. all that with a great FFB made in kunos..

Sure it's complicated to simulate realistic wet conditions... Let's see what happens in an future with AC2,

Regrettably I have reverted to racing with my friends on PCARS :-( I should say, the few that still want to run it.

My opinions of PCARS still stand and it is still full of bugs with the inevitable crash back to the main menu screen and the report the problem to Sony, the invisible walls, the cars sticking together etc, etc BUT at least we can run what we want, where we want, with the weather we want with whom we want.

As far as AC goes my rose tinted glasses have fallen off and I have stopped playing it until there are some real updates coming through. Playing online is a PITA, I have finished the career mode and I have been overwhelmed by the special events (especially the way the AI behave) :-(
Bro,you went on a rant on how terrible, buggy and basically crap the game was. To actually say you play it now,i'm sorry, pretty damn laughable. It's funny, because a whole bunch of us race every Tuesday,in SRM. Have we had the occasional blip, yep. But nothing compared to what you have.

This might be an unpopular opinion but i think Forza 6 did the rain right, the aquaplaning felt real in my opinion. The dynamic weather in PCars was a nice feature but it wasnt fun when your slicks had zero grip within a single minute of rain. When rain started mid round, i wasnt able to stay on track, the AI had no problems at all, of course ;-)

I think Kunos will think about rain and daytime change for AC2...

Just shows how bad some of us miss online private lobbies doesn't it. You also obviously missed the bit where I said "My opinions of PCARS still stand and it is still full of bugs......"

So please, laugh all you want at me and others who have bought AC on the basis that the developer (Kunos) said there was customisable online lobbies.

Fact: I (and others) would rather play a crap game with friends online than put up with the fiasco AC online is at the moment.

I've got my fingers crossed for you guys on Console. My own personal opinion is, I don't think fully functioning personal lobbies are coming in your next patch, but that's just a guess. I have nothing to base that opinion on, except the thinking that it's not going to be super easy to do, so it will probably take more time.

I hope I'm wrong. I would be thrilled if you guys got it in this update. Remind me again...Did someone say that the Console patch/Porsche Pack 1 is coming before the end of the month?

This might be an unpopular opinion but i think Forza 6 did the rain right, the aquaplaning felt real in my opinion.

I also think wet conditions in FM6 feel very believable when it comes to the tire simulation. Only problem is that the puddles are bigger than red flag conditions. Turn 10 exaggerated rain for the sake of eye candy.

To be honest, I HATE when I see an update to this thread and I hope for good news and instead I find yet another off-topic video from hammy :D

I mean there's a dedicated thread for videos....

Even though I have yet to get Porsche Pack Vol I on PS4 I am really excited to see the cars PC players get tomorrow in Porsche Pack Vol II. I am really looking forward to seeing the 919 Hybrid for it's sound in particular, 962C and 911 GT1 in action as they are the cars as I am most looking forward to the cross all 3 packs.

I'm waiting to watch much on these. Want to get my first experience without seeing it from other before. Same reason I don't watch unboxing videos.
