The ironing board takes the cake. And I thought I had a ghetto setup.👍

Having a wheel fall into your lap every so often isn't very fun.
I can't believe how many people have that same exact TV Tray/Table. You're probably the 6th person I've come across who has shown me a photo of their wheel or whatever and I see the same TV Tray piece of wooden garbage that I use. I'm sure there are probably dozens of other people that I interact with who also have that TV Tray/Table, but there was just no reason to show me.

Don't you hate how if you crank the wheel hard to the left, for example, the right legs come off the ground - so you're not really turning the wheel anymore at all because the base rotated in that direction too. I'm actually thinking of trying the ironing board. :D The base is much wider so my wheel should be WAY more stable than with this piece of garbage. I know you people are eyeballing my sweet pedals. Don't even ask...NO. They are not for sale. No. I will not trade them to you for your Heusinkveld Pro Sim Pedals. These babies are mine!! :banghead:

I don't know much about it on Xbox One, but Christmas deals are often very tempting and I expect this'll feature somewhere. What's it like on that console?

We just had black friday and the Deals were pretty Good on Xbox. I assume Next Week we see Christmas Deals and i think they go till new Year.

F1:CE... hated the slipstream on that game. 15 car lengths and you could be on someones gearbox in no time.

Sounds like GT5. I barely remember F1:CE, that was way way way before I knew what a proper sim was, but I recall enjoying it. The only specific thing I remember is it would constantly say "Jarno Trulli has gone off in sector 2", it became a running joke with me and my buddy for many years whenever we'd hear his name.

Every time I hear that name I think of 'the mobile chicane', as he was affectionately known.

Ah the good old toyota times in F1...

man i still miss the '90s Minardis... Damn, kunos Minardi is at hand, license the M191 and M190 with the lambo and ferrari engines!

I use an ironing board and camping chair lol.

I'm loving all of these ghetto setups guys. I'm going to have to join in and get some photos of my home made rig. The goal of my rig was as close to a decent rig as possible without actually spending any money. In the end, I spent $10 or so on an old school desk and maybe $5 on nuts and bolts (most of the nuts, bolts, and screws I used I actually had in my miscellaneous box of stuff and things).

The mobile chicane was good old Lavaggi!

Ahhhh Giovanni Lavaggi!! Doesn't his name translate to "Johnny Carwash" in English or something like that?

Although after watching that, i think he needed a carwash for burning his "planet Uranus"!!

Sometime wheelstands can be very costly ;)

I don't know...That looks like it should buff out. :D  I feel really bad if that was an amateur or only semi-pro drag racer (not 100% sponsored). That's going to be a nice repair build.

Now, I'm not a car guy at all. I've changed flat tires and that's about it. With a crash like the one in the video, do they have to throw away the frame/chassis or whatever parts are involved in the structural integrity of the vehicle? I'm thinking, what if that frame bent or whatever. Probably not a good idea to throw 1000+ HP back into it?

What do they do after one of those types of wrecks?

Speaking of setups, yesterday I received the final piece of my new setup: the TH8A shifter.
This, along with having a clutch pedal (T3PA-Pro) and leg room (Playseat Challenge) allowed me to finally experience AC in its full glory in terms of shifting.

The experience was everything I was hoping for, and then some.
Just engaging 1st to get the car moving from a stand still, feeling the clutch engaging, brought a huge smile to my face.

Of course, once I got to the track things got ugly and I was all over the place, trying to readjust my head and body to this new (sim) driving technique - trivial things like leaving the hand from the wheel for shifting, braking with the right foot, etc.

I tried 3 cars and ended up choosing the KTM X-BOW as my learning car.
I doubt I'll ever be quicker with this setup, but it is such a more rewarding experience that I really don't care.

Anyway, 30 minutes of testing brought me to this point:

A yellow drivetrain and bumper.

Go into the options menu (where you can add dead zone) and change the clutch pedal travel from 100% down to about 70 or so. That will help with the missed shifts. It changes the engagement point of the clutch to a more "realistic" spot in the travel.

Depends on the damage. If it's bent the chassis, then it will depend on how much is bent. You can straighten a chassis, or in a tubular framed race car, which that is, you can always cut sections out and re-do them, provided the rest is straight. That crash wasn't too bad, the car looked to be tracking pretty well when it landed on it's wheels, so I would say it was definitely salvageable.

I had a skyline once that had the front end out of alignment by about 1cm or so. It drove fine, but it was just enough that the geometry of the front suspension was out, which caused a headache for the tyre shop as they tried to do a wheel alignment lol. I eventually had it straightened out, which was actually relatively straightforward, as the engine and box were out at the time, so it wasn't much more work to get everything else in the front end out of the way and have the chassis alignment done.

Appreciate the tip, but we don't have access to those kind of options on the PS4. 👎

Hahahahahahaha. I saw the wheelstand and though "oh yeah, not bad", and then the old dude somehow manages to roll the car two or three times when he had more asphalt to turn around in than the run-off on a Tilke circuit lol.

Very nice! I'm dying to get myself a decent 3-pedal set & stick shift. Hey, how were your lap times? Did you notice if you were a couple of seconds slower when using the manual shifting?

I really hope we get a release date for Porsche Pack Vol II on console today or tomorrow, because I don't see it landing before Christmas otherwise.
I hope you guys get it before Christmas too. I know it's not going to happen, but I wish console users were given some sort of "gift" for their patience.

Holy crap! I can't believe he rolled it like that.
Now that I know they're both alright I find it to be hilarious. I must have watched the roll over 4 times. :D
Poor car.

Oh yeah, a lot slower. For now, I was lucky to keep a decent line and get the braking right, such is the concentration needed for blipping the throttle.

And I doubt some day I'll be quicker than using two pedals and wheel paddles... But I don't care about that, such is the enjoyment of driving this way. And very rewarding, too, when you get it right. :)
