Speaking of setups, yesterday I received the final piece of my new setup: the TH8A shifter.
This, along with having a clutch pedal (T3PA-Pro) and leg room (Playseat Challenge) allowed me to finally experience AC i
n its full glory in terms of shifting.

The experience was everything I was hoping for, and then some.
Just engaging 1st to get the car moving from a stand still, feeling the clutch engaging, brought a huge smile to my face.

Of course, once I got to the track things got ugly and I was all over the place, trying to readjust my head and body to this new (sim) driving technique - trivial things like leaving the hand from the wheel for shifting, braking with the right foot, etc.

I tried 3 cars and ended up choosing the KTM X-BOW as my learning car.
I doubt I'll ever be quicker with this setup, but it is such a more rewarding experience that I really don't care.

Anyway, 30 minutes of testing brought me to this point:

A yellow drivetrain and bumper.

Excellent. Just keep practicing and it will come.

I would also recommend the Ricmotech short shift adapter as well, its not cheap but it makes a massive difference to the throw in both directions.

Just out of interest how did you end up mounting it in the end? Did you go for the RAM mount?

Yes, I saw with interest your review on the short shift adapter when you uploaded it. Will definitely look into that in due time.

Right now, the shifter is mounted on a heavy chair, which I've placed next to the seat. It works well, but it's definitely a temporary solution.
I'm still trying to find a DIY solution for it, but most likely will end up getting the RAM mount you suggested.

Thanks again. 👍

Thanks for confirming. Wasn't sure if I missed something obvious.

"Fixed" the issue myself by buying a PS4 wheel and using cockpit mode. Money well spent I think.
I know this thread is for consoles if you refer that "something obvious".

Anyway, if kunos releases the apps in some update (they are in the code of the console versions) it is possible that in console can also be changed the position of the two chase cams like the chasecam editor on the PC version:

Not sure if you're aware, but there are a lot of cool apps you can install and position them anywhere you want on the screen to give you lots of informations.

I saw that on TV last week and was stunned but also laughed after. Leno was a bit lucky as his elbow was momentarily outside the door as it rolled.

Very lucky, he could have easily lost an arm. I really enjoy his show, it's slightly cheesy at times but he does a great job of showing the history of cars and how/why people can completely fall in love with these hunks of metal and rubber.

Oh yeah, a lot slower. For now, I was lucky to keep a decent line and get the braking right, such is the concentration needed for blipping the throttle.

And I doubt some day I'll be quicker than using two pedals and wheel paddles... But I don't care about that, such is the enjoyment of driving this way. And very rewarding, too, when you get it right. :)
I'm with you. I hardly ever race online. Enjoying the driving is paramount. Then, if I'm looking for a challenge I'll race the AI and set whatever AI strength is appropriate for me with that combo. Winning doesn't matter. I actually like trying to chase an AI driver down rather than take the lead on Lap 1 like in GT6.

I expect lap times will increase for me too and I'm totally fine with that. I was never going to be a Top 10 driver on RSR leader boards anyway. :D

That's amazing, i never expected AC could win this. I completely agree with the top 2.
I was very shocked too. Especially after the beating it took, deservedly so, after the console releases. What a surprise. I'm sure the boys are happy over at Vallelunga.

You should check out the Sidekick app or the Race Essentials app, might let you close some of those widgets so you can see your car. :)
Sidekick has been wonderful. I love driving with everything off...just me and the car. However, If I'm racing or even practicing for a race I want that information available and it sure beats having 3 or 4 different apps opened all over my display.

Very nice! I'm dying to get myself a decent 3-pedal set & stick shift. Hey, how were your lap times? Did you notice if you were a couple of seconds slower when using the manual shifting?
...
For me, it's not a matter of faster/slower it the immersion. It just doesn't feel right driving a manual shift classic car without a gate shifter and clutch - it really completes the experience! My $.02

I completely agree. I hate driving a car like the Ferrari F40 and clicking paddles. :grumpy:

Love the customized hud this person has on the PC version of Assetto Corsa. I hate the console hud so much as it is so cluttered.

I don't blame you. The PC options are fantastic. Some days I want a butt load of information on my screen. Other days I just want the tachometer that's in the car's dashboard.

That HUD element that is just above the steering wheel is a 3rd party app called "Sidekick". It's fantastic. It displays your choice of metric or 'Murican. It shows Gear/Speed, Tire Temp, Pedal inputs & Current Lap/Total Laps in this example. With a simple mouse click where the 4 tire temps are show will switch to show the 4 tire pressures & another click will show the percentage of wear on all 4 tires.

You can also enable Sidekick to have a 4th option of brake temps there, but a better choice for me is to only show brake temps while I'm braking. So, it will switch from Tire Temps to Brake Temps and then back depending on what I'm doing with my feet. There are some other things you can click on & it really does consolidate a lot of information into one nicely packaged app. And you can resize it which I have found to be very helpful.

I really wish that you guys on console could at least use 3rd party apps like this, somehow, even if you can't install mod tracks & cars. That is such a crappy limitation.

Another wicked video. :D

Let alone the speed sensation in these videos. No wonder it was #1 on Red Bull including the sheer fun factor.

Seeing this car is making me shed console peasant tears. Please share mod content in a different thread, and not the PS4 and XB1 thread mate. Seeing such epic cars and high quality mods is utterly depressing for us poor console folk. :(

Another question for the console crowd is how do you

The last channel I subscribed to was his channel and yeah it's a bit of a tease! There's so much good content in the red pack and the other Porsche packs that us console owners are waiting for. Oh well I'm just glad to have it on console I doubt my laptop could run it anywhere near as well.

I saw the Ferrari 2004 go off track. Winner - LaFerrari! :sly: My God! No wonder I can't control those things.

Would really really love to see this come to Assetto Corsa!

Ferrari J50 based on the 488 spider ot's made to celebrate 50th anniversary of Ferrari in Japan. Only 10 will be made.
Instead of the folding metal roof it has cabon fiber terga top.

Maybe that's what Kunos were at Ferrari HQ for last week? Amongst other things.
They were? Nice. I didn't know that.

Maybe they're starting their own Vision AC program. Where manufacturers (not just car companies, but shoe companies too!) design outlandish cars that run on Plutonium or Black Holes trapped in a flux capacitor!! That would be way cooler than actual cars!!
