It's a bug guys the downshift protection is way different in it's effect.

Gotcha. Was just trying to make sure everyone knew that DSP was a feature and that it was not being mistaken as a bug. When they first introduced DSP many people thought it was a bug and there were many complaints.

It's the game not registering the gear down for some reason. Happens even when the downshift would have brought the revs to low or mid levels.

Random mechanical failures confirmed!! :D

And random mechanical magic repairments too when it "work as intended" lol

Ok, well just keep in mind that even when it's fixed some cars have to be at very low revs in order to engage a downshift. Some cars you can seemingly downshift whenever you want, some cars need pretty low revs to downshift, it's not a constant across all cars. It's been a while since I drove the 599XX but I seem to recall it being one that wasn't fond of downshifting until the revs were low.

If that's how it's working in the 599, it's not right. DSP will only interfere when a downshift would over rev the engine. It would never interfere when the revs are really low, that would make for a terrible track car, which the 599XX is (a track car, not terrible). It's pretty easy to tell when it's DSP or a bug preventing a shift. Anyone who is proficient at heel-toeing would know what revs you need to be down to in order to not hit the limiter on the downshift.

On a slightly related note, has anyone tested the auto clutch and auto blip since the latest update on consoles? Auto blip wasn't revving the engine high enough to prevent a slight compression lockup in some cars.

The problem realeted with autoblip and autoclutch with the Pagani Huayra upshifting is fixed, but now, the Ferrari 312T,Lotus exos stage 1 and normal, Lotus 49, Lotus 97T if you don't have autoblip engaged does a little jump in the upshifting like the Pagani Huayra did.
I don't know other cars.

Because now i always play with autoblip on and autoclutch off and don't get any problems with the cars I've playing with.

All I know is that I enjoy driving that 599 a lot more than when first picking up the game. Did they give it new tyres? Or have I just learned to drive it/tune it/understand AC's physics better? Either way, great car... once you've come to grips with the brakes.

Oh, and it still makes me grin when I drive it because Ferrari even put the same wheel in the car as my Thrustmaster rim! They must've really liked the design

Has anyone managed to get sub 7 minutes laps around the Nurburgring with all three of the "holy trinity" on console yet?

I feel like I've got to do this before I move on but I think it's going to be a real struggle to get the Porsche under 7 minutes.

These are my times so far:

McLaren P1 - 6:59.212
Ferrari LaFerrari - 7:01.784
Porsche 918 - 7:03.517

Also is the 918 the Weissach edition?

So is the P1 in race mode with the illegal road ride hight? Very curious about that.

Another good question. I'm going to assume it is in race mode judging by the amount of grip it seems to have compared to the other two. I've spent by far the least time with the McLaren and it's the only one where I've dipped under the 7 minute mark.

Of course this isn't conclusive proof so if anyone knows different please say.

Is it just me or has the force feedback become weaker with 1.10? I used to run anything from 22 to 31, 31 feeling the best under v1.03 on the T300rs. Now I've had to slowly creep it up to 44% main feedback. Everything else 0.

Yet the force feedback feels the same as months ago under Project Cars.

Did you put the Porsche in "hotlap mode" or in "racing hybrid mode"?

For the rest, yes i tink it's the Weissach edition, at least the skin :D

Yes. The Porsche 918 is most certainly the Weissach Package.

@Donnced - I personally recommend doing what you've suggested. Drive with Auto-Blip turned on, but Auto-Clutch turned off. That's what I drive with because I don't have a clutch pedal or stick-shift so everything is paddles for me. I don't know if you get a screen, while the game is loading the car/track combo you've selected, that tells you which Tire Model the car is using. We do on PC, but it will also inform us if the car has Cockpit adjustable Turbo(s) or Cockpit adjustable brake bias and it will also inform us if the car has built in auto-blip (like on the new Corvette, for example).

Oh, mama...I just realized something. 10 more hours and it's Porsche Pack 3 baby!! :D

Nope... No info during the loading time with type tyres fit,or if it has autoblip..
It only shows images of the car and track and the model of car and track choosen...
Men...every day we find more options and features that aren't in console features... :(

About PP3..... It's coooming! And maybe you guys have luck and receive the custom championship feature in the update!
And we have still to wait until 2017 for PP2 and red pack :(:banghead:

We console guys where bad boys during the year and Don't receive a gift from papa noel Kunos :D

Maybe it's time to upgrade to pc ;)

Yup! It's already in my mind to upgrade to PC!
I'm already saving money for it.
Cause it's really the best place to be for Simracing!

I really want to try also automobilista, raceroom..mods of Assetto..

And screem like braveheart!
FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!:D

Yes, it is unfortunate how different the two platforms are with the "same" game. Obviously, consoles are fantastic for many, many things. Sim racing? PC all the way. As you said, Donnced, there are several titles that you would probably enjoy. I keep hearing great things about Automobilista, R3E & others...

How's that work then? If you have no clutch pedal, why run without auto-clutch? I haven't played in ages (been busy and can't be bothered setting up the rig and GIMX again for AC), does auto clutch not work? Surely if the auto clutch is turned off, you wouldn't be able to change the gears in many cars without a clutch pedal.

Yes, i really don't understand what they're where thinking in Kunos when they start to "port" the game to console...
It seems more a kind of "pokemon go" version instead of a port..:banghead::D

At least, physics side regarding they are now on par with the PC version..
And still hope to see that the game keep improving and getting on par to the PC version in features and options globally.
Or at least a good polished versioned game.

I realy keep on thinking that it's too much work for a little team like them,..core PC version, Pro version, 2 console versions...working on Dallara simulator, the porsche experience centers simulators...do they sleep??? Or are they aliens??

Surely will enjoy PC and racing games... Years ago i was on PC,playing and enjoying the microprose grand prix
But changed to console thanks to the simplicity of them (years ago) ..
It was... Put disc in..and play..

Stupid decisions we take when we are to young still :D

Now i got friends enjoying Assetto, R-Factors,raceroom, automobilista, iracing, amazing Richard Burns Rally full moded...

Time to go back to PC for sure

BTW... Received an email from 505Games about the "ride height issue"..
That's the response :

It's quite strange... I can't really explain it good but, if you have autoclutch in "on"
It gives sometimes problems with the semiautomatic gearboxes (secuencial)
With in off position it works good in full manual gearbox cars and the scuencial...

Why??? Don't know, should be explained by the Kunos guys..

I might be way off with this, but I think Auto-Clutch is for people who have a stick-shift but only 2 pedals (or maybe don't want to have to use the clutch?) I only say that because you're right...You would think that it's going to cause issues for people like me who only have paddles and two pedals if I don't enable Auto-Clutch, but it doesn't.

In fact, I used to drive with both Auto-Clutch and Auto-Blip enabled, but I want to say that I was encountering problems with the Auto-Clutch enabled. So, I shut it off and never had a problem since. I mean no disrespect, but it could be poor wording. If I go into the Car Setup tab when I've loaded a car/track combo there is some English phrasing that could be written a bit clearer, in my opinion.

Maybe someone can jump in and correct me about the "Auto-Clutch" option.

Oh, I should add that if you do something that you're not supposed to do and look inside the data.acd file (this is the file with the guts of all the car's settings). There is a file called "drivetrain.ini". Here is the code from that file belonging to a typical mod car (a BMW E60 M5). Notice how it is set to use an Autoclutch even if it's set to off in your personal settings:

EDIT: Apologizes. I tried to make BOLD the pertinent lines to look at. I'm sure you can figure out which are the ones we're talking about. I guess the regular BOLD button doesn't work in the CODE box. Sorry.

What does all of this mean? I don't know, but it means something.

Oh...Just to fire you consoles guys up a little bit more... This is from an official Kunos vehicle:

Code:
[DOWNSHIFT_PROTECTION]
ACTIVE=1
DEBUG=0 ; adds a line in the log for every missed downshift
OVERREV=300 ; How many RPM over the limiter the car is allowed to go
LOCK_N=1

Yes... Sure Means something

But here i should need an translation from "alien" to "human" language :D

For the moment.. Only thing i understand playing is with autoclutch off secuencial cars ok and the rest also also ok..
With autoclutch off..sometimes problems in secuencial gearbox shifts...

And with autoblip on... No more problems with the Rev jump in upshifting...

And yes, there's quite some typo errors.. In Spanish now the named the graining and blistering "cooking":boggled:

Being Italians and that Spanish is also an Latin language... It's quite strange see typo's like that...
So i figure that in English some things can be really bad

Well Nobody's perfect:D

About the downshift protection... Well, some problems in the lines of the code in the console versions i supose...
Realy Would like to have this option deactivated... So if you shifting wrong.. Engine blowing or gearbox broken.. More realism:lol:

I totally believe you guys when you say there is a problem with the way DSP is working. I was just teasing by including it. I have no reason to doubt any of your claims. You know how it worked pre-update. Just make a post in the forums so they're on top of it. 👍

It's already done, in the PlayStation 4 section.
So for sure that the dev team at least seen the post and replies..
It happened in previous updates that they didn't reply some posts from the forum, but in the update the fix was there.. So if there's anything they can do,they're sure will do it..

And otherwise... We start reporting again..
With Assetto, patience is needed...:D

Yes. Don't expect to get a verbal response from someone with every complaint. I wouldn't even expect a response 25% of the time. That doesn't mean that they didn't see it and acknowledge its existence...especially if others are replying "yeah...it also happens with the Audi R8!" or some other type of confirmatory response.

Frankly, if Stefano and Aristotelis responded to every posted issue or perceived issue, we'd probably still be on v1.1! :D

Woow! You're an optimistic guy!👍
I really think that if Stefano and Aris,or even Luca and Marco responded to every issue / bug post the game would be still in early access phase :D

But at least they listen more than less to their communities.. And that's something very appreciated

The McLaren F1 has a bad auto blip. Regardless of how much it needs, it shoots straight to redline. Sometimes bounces off the rev-limiter. I think it's been improved since before 1.03, but it's still distracting and sometimes upsets the car.
