I also remember the soft lock was gone the last time I played it, which was well over a month ago. I finally played it again today, and I actually have soft lock again..
I was trying out the first porche dlc when I noticed one of the cars didn't go fully to 900degrees, I double checked with the Lotus f1 car and surely enough the wheel locked at 360degrees. (and the lock felt pretty strong)

Hoping I've understood what softlock is and I'm not just making a fool out of myself now, it is when I can have the wheel at 900degrees and the game automatically stops the wheel from rotating more than it would on the real car right?

I have never changed changed the dor on my wheel from 900, and my visual wheel setting in game is 900.
I'm on the tx wheel on the xbox one btw.

I havent posted much on forums, but i read them a lot. Sorry if my English is poor, it is not my first language.

I have my DOR set to 270deg and when rotating 135deg either side the wheel would stop @ that point, l could force it past but what would be the point, but now there doesn't seem to be this lock stop, is that a soft lock?

I will have to reset everything and try a few other cars. I had some weird issues with some USB devices lately on ps4 since they went to the faster lower power mode. I hard reset everything and a headset started working again..

I was having some fun this morning racing online (poorly) and don't really notice.

Got no response to my post in the questions section, so I'll try here...

Heard a lot of positive comments about AC, but I'm now c.20 hours in, and I think I must be missing something.

I'm just not getting any feedback on the car through the wheel - there's rotational resistance, but no feedback to how the car is behaving at all... eg; if the car goes sideways the wheel doesn't countersteer and there's no kick back over kerbs/bumps. The wheel also has a kind of deadzone for the 1st 5* either side of dead center - the car moves if you move the wheel, but the resistance doesn't start until post 5* of lock.

PS4/G29. I have FF at 35%, everything else at 0.

I can't believe this how the game is supposed to feel... GT has better FF!!

I have G25 on PC and it has excellent feedback. FFB Gain to 100%, everything else at 0%. I don't know if console version has calibration tool, but use that as well if you can. Aside from that if you're still not getting anything - it's probably the wheel.

Oversteer effect is very good in AC. Understeer is what I find lacking personally but maybe that's just my G25 not having enough dynamic range. In any case, I got used to it and you can still put in good times.

Has anyone ever been driving along, and suddenly the game goes to the "pause" menu for no reason? I had this happen on Nords Tourist server, PS4, T300 wheel. Definitely didn't accidentally press button. Doesn't seem to be sticking in any way either.

I was coming up on the 2nd mini carousel and the game paused (meaning I coasted off into a wall since I was online) and also changed my view for no apparent reason. It was a good lap, too!

...
That has happened me twice in about 4 months. It is quite disconcerting though. I cannot remember whether it was a long session I was having but it could be a reason for it.

Random button activation is a common problem with t300 wheels. I get brake bias changing, not a big problem, and occasionally the share screen activates which is a big problem. Have not seen a fix anywhere but I removed the screws that secure the ps2 plug and socket connectors to the wheel and wheel base and pushed the connections together manually when mounting the wheel. I now only get a rare brake bias random pulse as opposed to several times an hour before I took out the screws. I do think it is the connector that causes the problem as opposed to the stresses on the wheel activating the buttons but could be wrong.

I never have softlock on my wheel, i wonder why?

You can reduce the occurance by taking the wheel off and tighten down the hex/allen screws on the front of the rim. And on the front of the base where the rim mounts. Be careful not to strip anything and use the correct fools.

None of it is locked threaded and it can work loose.

This is no guarantee though.. but it has helped many of us reduce any issues

I'm in the same boat. I blame my DFGT - Because of this I decided to activate "Enhanced Understeer". It make the wheel kind of feel...you know if you're driving in the winter on perfectly dry pavement and you turn your wheels and hit an ice patch, obviously sliding forward with a significant reduction in friction. That's what the Enhanced Understeer feels like to me.

I keep everything else at 0%. I used to run Kerbs at 5% when I was newer to the game but it was such an insignificant enhancement of the real FFB that I put it back to 0%. I really enjoy the FFB and have been for about a year now. Even with a cheap, old, worn out wheel like my DFGT you get a good experience...I can just imagine what the new wheels feel like.

It's posts like those that make me think there's something wrong with my wheel/game.

I'll see what Logitech say tomorrow.

 but we are playing sexy football even if we don't win it... so I am really happy.

Not tried it with anything else as this is all I have now - taken my PS3 to my place in Spain.
I'll also be really happy if LiverLoserpool play well and don't win it too. :sly: :)

Probably best to get T300 wheel if sticking with Assetto Corsa for time being, a lot of the fast guys on PS4 seem to use that wheel. pCARS has leaderboards which you might be interested in and probably works well with G29. Well worth it IMO, I'm tempted to buy it again for PS4 so I have digital copy too. (Got a David Ginola signed copy )

I came across a loose button on the Ferrari 599XX wheel. When I hooked it up to the laptop button 13 was lighting up which is that adjustable dial button? Ends up pressing the PS menu. Whether I've sorted it is another thing but I put a tiny bit of flat black fragt foam below it to stop it wobbling. Isn't much but enough to press it.

There is no soft lock on Assetto Corsa.

Huh.. weird I thought there was, but I have been away for awhile. Thank you!

Oh.. did this get broken with 1.09 then was sort of fixed with 1.10? I remember reading complaints about wheel issues with 1.09. I am way out of the loop sorry.

Yes there is still a soft lock as l checked today using 270 deg rotation.

Yeah, coming from GT initially I missed that wheel "going light" feeling when you understeer. Unfortunately I find the Enhanced Understeer effect to be overkill. If it's a slider instead of a simple checkbox I think I might use it, but otherwise it feels too artificial IMO. Also it makes you lose all FFB when you understeer, which makes recovery difficult. Gran Turismo, despite all its physics and FFB shortcomings, actually has really good and crisp understeer effects. Not too much, not too little and it scales with how big a slide you're having. It's the only thing I can honestly say that's better in GT than AC.

I was initially missing kerb effects too, but then I learned that a lot of kerbs are actually not serrated and are just smooth surfaces, so they actually DON'T provide any vibration in real life. In GT all kerbs provide rumble, which is artificial. In most PC sims (rFactor, LFS, AC) if you turn off canned FFB smooth kerbs are smooth, and serrated kerbs vibrate, just like RL. So no kerb enhancement FFB for me.

The smooth kerbs I like hearing it through the bass. Sometimes the steering can go a little lighter. Where the ridged ones can sometimes be heavier.

Yes, the Enhanced Understeer is 100% artificial. When Stefano first added it I tried it and didn't like it at all. If I remember correctly, my friend was over and he activated it for his session and I forgot to turn it off afterward. Weeks went by before I noticed that it was enabled. At that point, I was an Enhanced Understeer junkie. I just couldn't go back. I think I've been using it about 6-7 months. Should I check myself into EU rehab? :D

 I just did. With my trusty Lamborghini Countach I ran a couple of laps around Imola with my regular config. I shut Enhanced Understeer off and ran 3 laps. I turned it back on and ran 2 laps. I think I'll give it a go with it disabled. I'm sure it's placebo, but I swore the entire wheel felt a tad heavier with EU turned off. It wasn't an unpleasant weight or anything, but it did feel a little heavier. Once I run 10 laps I'm sure I'll forget all about it. :)

Not with real degrees of rotation (leaving the wheel at 1080 and letting the game adjust for you the degrees of rotation for each car).

There is a mod on PC, but in consoles i havent seen that. In menus or playing the game.

Could be the wheel setting soft lock it's self as DOR set on wheel (csw v2)

I think I'll turn the understeer effect off & give it a go as well. The reason I turned it on was I couldn't feel any understeer at all otherwise. But if the steering is generally heavier with it off, & it's unrealistic anyway, I think I shall turn it off for good.
