For once I'm allowing myself to speculate a bit, on custom / private lobbies.

I would say let's not get ahead of ourselves, be pragmatic.
From what they look like on PC, do not expect to be able to:

- change the track once the lobby has been created - Only with a 3rd party app
- allow any car to be used. At the lobby's creation, the models (and how many) will be decided. Then that's it - Yes
- change cars without leaving first - No
- have time limited races. It will be a number of laps - Currently no time limited races
- leave your own lobby without killing it - Yes
- have a simple 'tuning not allowed' tick box (see further below why) - Yes, but it's kinda fiddly
- (speculating) send invitations other than how we currently do - Not that I'm aware of, maybe through Steam

What we should be able to do:
- the owner should be able to restart, skip and kick at will - Only with a 3rd party app
- optional practice & optional quali (both with choice of duration) and race (n laps) - Yes
- pick time of day, weather, whether ABS/TCS are on/off/factory, all these settings available offline... - Yes
- make these custom lobbies private via a password - Yes
- (speculating) save lobby configurations for future reuse - Yes

You probably know this already but I've noted which of these features are available on PC. Not sure if that means they will or will not be available on consoles, just trying to add perspective.

What are the odds that we'll get voice chat? Would be good for public servers too, so long as it would be very easy to mute all or selected people.

On that thought, when you pause the game during a race, the car should become a ghost and the AI should take over. It would momentarily maintain your initial speed at pause unless it needed to slow (going into a corner) and then slow at a steadily decreasing pace. Once you unpaused, you'd blink a few times before coming out of ghost. This way, you could pause to mute or kick people without major impact on your race or others around you, but couldn't use pausing for any strategic advantage.

Great idea as I noticed that pausing a game is basically impossible during the race! That is kinda normal in a racing game, but the question that poses itself then is "How to kick trolls then once a race has started?! We can't discover most trolls until the race starts!".

I think an auto kick should be performed by the game/server itself through a smart algorithm to discover trolls!

Automatic culling of trolls would be fantastic.

On the PC if you drive the wrong way for too long it kicks you back to the pits and warns you that if you continue to do it you'll be ejected from the server. Hopefully that will come to the consoles too.

This has happened to me a few times on Nords tourist, heh. Except I was just trying to get out of the pits! It must be a cumulative thing.

@BrandonW77
How much is "for too long"?!? I think like 5 sec should be max! This is the needed times for a driver to spin the car again in case he spun!

Not sure, I think it's more like 15 seconds. 5 seconds is probably too short as it could take you that long to get turned around after an incident, so it's a little longer to ensure you're actually being a jackass and not just recovering from some argy bargy.

Would be nice to have a setting to allow you to put it in gear as the lights turn red...

Yes, that's an option that was added to the PC side a few months ago, combined with the ability to have a false start (you can only put your car in gear before the lights if the false start option is selected). I never use it though, I want as many people fighting in a close pack as possible and sending one (or more) of them to the pits at the start of the race is counterproductive to that. Plus, as far as I can tell the false start thing is cosmetic only, you can jump the start and it will show you a graphic saying you have three laps to serve a drive-through penalty but you can totally ignore it and you won't get penalized in any way.

Can you guys select to have tyre warmers on in your private lobbies? That's one thing I want added so we can have nice close race starts and not have everyone either driving too conservatively as there's little grip whilst braking or disregarding the cold tyres and crashing into others or even just completely off the track. Having cold tyres for the whole first lap doesn't seem to make for close racing.

Yes.

This is what happens when F1 cars have too many buttons on the steering wheel and mere mortals like myself take their eye off the road for one second...
 it was like "oooh yea that's pretty bad" and then it caught that bounce and cartwheeled like :eek::eek:

The other night some guy in a Supra crashed in front of me at Nords, cartwheeled through the air and his wheels went crazy and were bouncing around all over the place like the game couldn't keep track of them. It was funny.

Whats with the frame rate nose diving with a missed gear as the gearbox takes a slight hit as the car status pops up?
It happens almost every single time there's any damage to the car. The framerate stutters for however long the damage HUD is on screen. It really should not be like this. There's a similar stutter whilst cycling through the HUD when the mini map appears too. Nasty.

I remember it used to happen with no ABS.

Personally I detest that damn graphic. I wish if it was the engine, only the engine graphic popped up. Likewise for bodywork but for tyres? Really??? I know when I've scuffed my tyres big time as the wheel feels lumpy.

So many options that cannot be had. Personally if I had those options I'd have switched the car status stuff off. I know when someone has hit me as I can feel and hear/see it. I know when I've damaged the engine or gearbox and know what I've done to the tyres.

Off topic!

Good news for Simracing fans even in console... Simbin is back! With GTR3 launching on PC, PS4 & XBOX ONE in 2018.
Made on unreal engine 4

What a generation with racing games! Great!

Don't know a lot about this franchise, will investigate. Any other racing games been made with an unreal engine? Should be interesting.

About unreal engine i can't say if other game is based on the engine..

Simbin is famous on PC, the GTR games are genuine simulation games that got the official FIA GT Championships.

Now,seems that the basis of GTR3 is taken from raceroom

Here you have a video of the GTR2, launched in 2006 if i remember rightly.

Wow even such an old game has "look at the apex" feature and Assetto Corsa doesn't! Too bad this game is great at the driving experience and lacking in everything else!

Good thing then that the driving/racing experience is the essence of a racing game ;)

Hope console users get a decent revamp in 2017 so their experience gets aligned with the PC version. Private lobbies will be a major game changer already, but I'd suggest to keep the pressure on @ the official forum to ask for other stuff we have mainly being the added customizability.

Shows you the difference with laser scan. Spa looks awful on that. So wide and doesn't feel like you're going downhill. Love the old bus stop though.

What are the odds that we'll get voice chat?

And if we got it, what would be the chances of having an option turn it off for the whole room? Voice chat is something I will always force off when running a lobby, simply because real racing drivers don't talk to each other when racing, so in a true sim nor should we. It also detracts from the art of racing.

GTR 2 (shown in the video) was launched back in 2006..many where still playing GT4... So tecnology quite changed and improved a bit.
The tracks aren't láser scanned like Assetto or iracing.... But was quite an ambitious and amazing sim.
None game will be entirely perfect ever
