pCARS was crowdfunded and had a lot more people working on the game and testing the game as well.
None of which had played the console versions before release. As a matter of fact: more people have played AC on PC so far than WMD members played pCARS on PC before it was released.

Also: preorders are not paid to the dev until after release!

But none of that matters. It's not a pissing contest between two developers. The fact is that getting a primarily designed for PC sim like AC to run on both consoles at a consistent 1080p/60FPS is very, very hard. Not just getting the physics and graphics to run, but also the limitations on network play.

Just be glad they're taking their time, they would have released it if they could, but obviously they don't think it's good enough.

This is the thing I'm excited to see what all the hype is about regards FFB mainly, thinking that moment was under a month away was cool... oh well.
In fairness Kunos are a genuine small new developer, SMS say they are when it suits but then suddenly Ian will be saying how Shift sold 9 million copies... got to love the guy..
Can you not just give it a rest about SMS and Ian dude. Why do you have to drag all that crap into every forum? We get it. Move on man.

I don't mind the delay if it genuinely means a more polished game in the end. Besides, I'm nowhere done with DiRT Rally (and probably won't be until DR2) and need as few distractions as possible.

:P

Really looking foward to trashing the cars in AC in August though.

The core of Kunos is 11 or 12 guys and that's it. Had they kept to their original release date it would have been a miracle in my eyes, I truly never expected it. The port to console must be much harder than any of us imagine it to be, since the game works extremely well on pc with almost no issues. It's nowhere near a copy/paste situation. SMS struggled with it and they are many times larger than Kunos. PD struggles with it and they have many times the resources of SMS and many, many, many times the resources of Kunos.

For sure and i agree, but if your going to go for that console gold then deal with it, the pay back comes with selling loads of units so I don't have that much sympathy if I'm honest. Your not meant to say your making a game for multi platform and set a release date but then say "oh its hard to do multi platform"... your meant to go "it's hard doing a multi platform, lets not set a release date till we have it worked out.." Surely? Or am I missing something?

Yes, you're missing the fact that they've never done a console port before and really had no idea what they were getting into. Whether you have sympathy or not is really irrelevant, to me it really boils down to whether you believe they genuinely meant to make the original date or not or whether they just outright lied about it. Seeing as how there really is no advantage to them to lie and degrade their reputation by missing launch dates and potentially losing thousands of sales as a result, I see no reason to believe, just like with SMS, just like with PD, that they made up the release dates just for fun or to fill in a blank on a form.

When there is nothing to be gained by lying and potentially comprimising your reputation, it's ludicrous to think that someone would do so just for giggles.

No I'm simply saying they saw the potential goldmine and saw PCars success and wanted in, good on them for that I don't blame them at all, but they have took the gamble and i hope it pays off for them, but if they have bitten off more than they can chew then they have themselves to blame for this.
I think SMS clearly had an advantage from working with EA with the shift games, they are well versed and business savvy for sure, kunos have taken on a mammoth project which could easily destroy them IMO.

So they see other games being successful and want to also be successful? Congratulations, you've discovered the purpose of being in business. Clearly have themselves to blame? Who is blaming anyone else?

So let's just get down to brass tacks shall we? Do you believe they lied about the original and subsequent release date or genuinely intended to and thought they could meet it? If so, do you have any evidence beyond your feelings? Also if so, please make a long term business case for intentionally deceiving and disappointing your customer base.

Not sure where I suggested that, it's just your straw man argument that i chose i ignore first time. I don't think they have lied, but its pretty fair to say its been proven they over estimated how close the game is to a solid release, I mean, clearly, were that not the case then we'd..well be playing it by now yeah?
So with that cleared up, regards business decisions, well sometimes businesses can take stuff on that ends up destroying them.
The world is littered with failed business's who thought too big too soon, whether that turns out to be kunos remains to be seen but clearly this can happen, which is all i'm saying...
To add prime examples are too be found in abundance in the game development sector, just ask Evolution Studios....

Johnny,Kunos has secretly hired SMS staff for testing.

Suggested what? I asked a series of questions so there's no strawman there. Are you going to answer the questions or just try to sidestep them with generalities and false strawman accusations? As to whether you think they lied there's this:

Its all well and good defending this by saying developing games is a tough job, but for the love of God don't give us release dates till you pretty much know your on top of the issues.... is it that hard just to be open and honest?
Clearly AC is well off being finished game on console so they only have themselves to blame if the proverbial hits the fan... And anyone thinking they are delaying it to improve the experience.... hmmmm, how'd that go with PCars?
And this:
I think in light of what happened with the PCars launch you'd think they would of tried to make sure they didn't over reach themselves and set unrealistic release dates. Its quite simple DON'T SAY IT'S READY TILL ITS PRETTY MUCH READY. Regardless of how hard it is to develop games don;t make it even harder by saying it'll be ready ready when clearly its not. Otherwise some will start to suspect that these release dates were put out just to gain some publicity knowing full well it would be delayed....
Its a game and there's plenty of games around to play so its not an issue other than for me just why even bother saying it anywhere close to ready, it helps no one.
Also, do you have anything to establish the claim that "clearly AC is well off being a finished game on console". How do you know the problem isn't in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking like it is with Mighty #9 for example which has nothing to do with the core gaming engine.

The first bold bit is generalisations of the whole of game development if you look with some semblance of sense. Second bold bit clearly says "some people" didn't say me did I?

I'm sure it will all come good in the end, In the mean time DiRT and PCars are here.

When you take the two bolded statements together it's pretty clear you are questioning their honesty. So answer these questions:

Not lied but over estimated as I already cleared up for you. You need to cool down a little bit Johnny, relax.
Why will you refuse to accept that if a game was aimed to be released in April and it gets delayed till August (if we're lucky) that someone somewhere has messed up and it is sure as hell isn't the fault of the consumer...

I don't know why you keep insisting that someone has messed up. It's almost like you want there to be a scapegoat or something. Johnny's explanation: "they've never done a console port before and really had no idea what they were getting into" seems perfectly sensible to me. They thought they were going to make the deadline --> They didn't --> They set a new date. This happens/happened with tons of games, including PCars and GTA 5. Not sure what's so hard to understand about it.
Just keep calm and carry on. :)

This pretty much:

You are clearly looking for a boogeyman that doesn't exist and questioning the honesty and integrity of Kunos with no proof whatsoever of any wrongdoing. It's fine to make the accusation if you have some proof of nefarious behaviour but you have none. No one, nowhere has said anything about it being the fault of the consumer, that's just moving the goalposts on your part.

Also your assertion that I need to cool down and relax is misplaced. If you think I'm anything but calm and cool as I type anywhere on GTP you'd be mistaken.

You are taking a delay way too serious, it is what it is. Stuff happens. Now if you got someome to build your dream home and it got delayed then I'd understand over analysing it, but this is just a damn game. They should release it when they are happy with it otherwise they're gonna get a lot more criticism and probably from fans of a certain other bug budget dev that can do no wrong as its always the consoles fault.

Anyhow perhaps it is delayed due to more content and/features being added. Im guttec its delayed but it gives me a chance to play all my other games I haven't finished, because I sure as hell know I will play AC to the death when it comes out just like I use to with the GT series

Will all the dream packs cars and tracks be included in the console versions of the game or?
some of the dream packs cars are in below video. Might pick it on ps4 once released since Pcars is beyond buggy.

Is it still buggy as hel on ps4 ?
I deleted the game in January because you know ..... waiting patiently for 9 months and 9 patch they still couldn't fix at least one of the major bug like Landmines , invisibly walls , grinding of the steering wheel , and crash to the main screen on ps4 .

If it was not for the big bugs in Project Cars I was still playing this funny arcade game .

everything is included apart from some road cars because some asshat exec at 505 wants pre-orders to do well. scumbag move and i highly doubt it was a dev decision.

Wow....and no one jumps onto that post...funny that...

To those mentioning PCars its got enough fantastic aspects within it to make it well worth playing, hell even if just hot lapping the cars that work well. I'd advise DiRT rally as well, if AC was canned for consoles I'd not be too bothered, I'd rather race room come to consoles but they already knocked that back. Might grab a PC set up next year..

Why would we jump on it? We have no idea who made the decision so whom would we jump on?
