Just wanted to respond to this bit of your post mate. Why should people pre-order? Just to get a handful of "free" cars? Considering AC has had more than it's fair share of issues on PC, and is being published by a less than stellar publisher (that's being very kind to 505), why should we (console owners) be confident that the port will be relatively issue-free? I really hope it is, as I really want AC, and it looks bloody cool, but let's be realistic, it's likely to have at least some small teething issues.

But ok, let's imagine it releases and is perfectly bug-free. Why then, would anyone actually regret not pre-ordering it? A game like AC, aimed squarely at a tiny niche market, being a quite feature thin racing sim, is not going to be selling at full price for long. I'd be willing to bet that if I waited two months to buy it, I could pick it up for around half price. Less if I pick up a pre-owned copy. At that point, I could easily buy the DLC to get the pre-order bonus cars, and I've still spent way less than I would have to pre-order it. I also get two full months to get a wide variety of impressions and reviews, and to see if it lives up to the hype on console.

It's not like I'd be missing out in any major way by getting the game a couple of months after someone who pre-orders, because on PS4 and XB1 there are already more than enough excellent racing titles to keep any racing enthusiast going, even if they have no life and spend all day gaming.

Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to AC, and I sincerely hope it releases in a far better state than Pcars did, but GT5 and 6 taught me not to pre-order games, and Pcars reminded me why I don't. I've only paid full price for 4 of my PS4 games, and that's out of a library of over 50 (56 I think currently), and I'm a far happier gamer that way (the Mrs is also much happier lol).

I really only meant that you'll regret it because you'll end up having to pay for the cars you would have got for free. If you're willing to wait a few months and pick it up second-hand that's totally fine, but for those planning to wait a couple weeks to see reviews first they probably will wish they had just pre-ordered and got the cars.

Just my opinion of course. In my nearly two years with the game there have been very few issues and if any pop up the team is usually very quick to fix them. For sure there will likely be a few small teething issues, it's standard with all new software. But based on what I know of Kunos they likely will have made damn sure that everything is in good working order before releasing and will be quick to fix any problems. This is their baby, they take immense pride in what they do and expect the best of themselves and their product.

Anyway, that just me ranting  I just don't like people saying that a sim has to be rigid in tuning possibility to separate them from the mainstream console games that allow more freedom, for the sake of being ....
I don't see anyone here saying it "has to be rigid" because it's a sim and to separate it from console games.. I see people just describing how it works in this game so people aren't caught off guard expecting something they aren't going to get.

I worded my comment very poorly, Ridox. I meant modifications that do not involve adding, changing or removing car parts and such. Otherwise we would be saying that AC Tuning is similar to Gran Turismo's Tuning. The simple fact of the matter is, if someone is looking for a game that lets them add turbos, perform "weight reductions", tweak LSD settings, adjust anti-roll bar settings and suspension settings on EVERY car, then Assetto Corsa is not the game for them.

Race cars allow for much more tuning whereas street cars are treated to be more like the car you would get from a dealership, 100% stock. Occasionally, Kunos will provide a tuned version of their street cars. If I'm not mistaken, they always use the designation S1 - S3 to imply Stage 1 tuning or Stage 3 tuning, for example. There are also a few cars that come in a tuned version called Drift. Take a guess at what that implies...

I am a huge fan of Tiago Lima's work. Is it 100% perfect? Of course not. He's a dude in a basement building or converting tracks for a video game as a hobby, not a profession. He is not privy to the information that professional developers are. Personally, I think that the sudden incline before Turn 1 at Tsukuba needs to be fixed. I knew something was off on my very first lap of Tsukuba. Maybe some day he'll get around to doing something about it, maybe not. Until Kunos gives us a laser-scanned version of Tsukuba or someone else builds a better Tsukuba circuit for AC, I'm going to have to deal with some imperfections on mod track creations and I'm perfectly fine with that. If I could do better I would, but I can't, so I take these free mods with much appreciation for the modders considerable efforts in recreating these amazing race tracks.

EDIT: You asked if Assetto Corsa simulated EBD. I don't believe so. Otherwise I'm sure it would be talked about. I would be surprised if any sim does. Real ABS systems are insanely complex computer systems. I'd be willing to bet that ABS implementation in all racing sims is grossly simplified to be included at all.

I am still waiting for someone to explain to me how quotes from interviews or features of previous games alter the code that comes on a new game disc. Because if it doesnt then its not relevant at all. Judge the game based on the game, not quotes or features of games that came before it.

You also repeatedly claimed that features listed on a game's website after a game releases aren't relevant to what should be expected in a game, so...

Sorry, my mistake, I just had impression that AC way of limiting tuning on street cars because it's a sim, while console games are not because they allow vast customization aimed towards casual gamers. Guess I'm wrong :D

Kunos do give tuned cars, that's great :D Maybe next game they will allow the user to tune as well :P I remembered TXR Drift on PS2 which allows intricate tuning, like internal engine parts, ECU tuning with different curves, but still simple enough for casual players, maybe add more : increasing engine compression on NA, lowering it for bigger turbo/more boost, adjusting timing, fuel mixture, okay that's too far for a game

Drift cars in AC, they surely comes with specific setup, can you adjust steering angle, ride height, damper, springs, sway bars, caster, cross weight and LSD on drift cars ? These are crucial for drifting. I may just open drift garage instead :P

For Tiago, huge respect for him to devote time and energy doing mods. Have you driven the R34 GTR and RX7 at Tsukuba in AC ? Try to get close to Tsuchiya record there at 1:04s for both of them, should be fun :D

For those of us who haven't played AC before, what are you most excited to drive and where?

-for me, I only have experience with pcars on ps4, and my favorite cars are the group a touring cars and the sauber Mercedes so I will likely go for something in the 80s, 90s rear wheel drive on the nordschleife.

I'm excited to try out any of the open-wheelers to see if the AI is as suicidal/idiotic as that in pCARS. Then it'll probably be some Ferraris as I've never really driven one in a proper sim. Same with the lambos. Then there will be a lot of track comparisions (again, to pCARS).

And also hopefully not hours and hours of FFB setup etc but I can get quite anal about these things.

The Cobra on The Nords would also be a fun choice, preferably not with optimum track setting, as the Nords does not have optimum grip in real life.

Wow. I try ask again.

And also im not sure about the community tbh.

It is a very good question but at the same time very vague and difficult to answer, if only because the 3 "game" (they more often and more accurately referred to as SIM) you are mentioning are very different.
So I can only tell you, of the one you mentioned, as a SIM, AC is a wonderful experience and it fulfill my appetite for this genre completely, making the other 3 not so interesting for me to use anymore.
If you are into game more than SIM, PCars is probably a better choice.

I'd suggest leaving all the FFB sliders at Zero to start and play with the games natural FFB for a while before making adjustments.
One that probably won't kill me on first attempt. I'll need to see it before I know the options we have.
0-100% boost in increments of 10%. There are some gear ratio options that really help get the power down better as well. If you are on shorter gearing it's very easy to be constantly spinning the wheels so taller gearing helps in that regard. Of course you might want to spin the wheels...:sly:

Ok, that's good to know. If loose rear tires were a major concern, I'd just wait for some civilized 911 to show up in the game.

My condolences to you next of kin.

Fear may not be a concern in sim racing, but pretending there's risk goes a long way in enhancing the immersion. No record attempts until I have this sort of confidence:

Well you said you knew all about it so I asked you. You should also know that I previously have been in touch with Jordan and other admin (can't recall who) but they claim they lost the database so cannot investigate and also that it's too far in the past anyway (yet infraction points are never too far in the past and strangely survived the DB drop). Thus, since you know about it I need you to tell me what what happened as you are now the only person here who knows. I have considered that you might have been lying when you said you were 'well aware of my infraction history' but since this is against the AUP I know that can't be true. So please could you simply tell me? I dont understand what the issue is. Can you just tell me or at least tell me why you refuse? It's no big deal but would be a great mystery solved for me.

Well I need some guidance on which part of the AUP I am falling foul of and where I did so. From what you have said in this thread I don't know what specifies the "manner you have". I don't recall any hate speech, no threats or harassment, no false information (unless you take what I say grossly out of context) etc. Even if you were correct and I was imagining conspiracies, I can't see anything in the AUP covering that either. Again, a little help?

What you wrote is an explanation. I am being persecuted because I say it exists. I agree there are reasons for the disparity in fan treatment of both games, maybe reasonable, maybe not, but my position here is that the disparity simply exists which the mod refutes.

I think I recall the devs saying the UI would come to PC but I am not certain.

You so often here this. But Stephano (I think that's his name) was talking about the start of Kunos and also about professional sims. They were just guys that made a game according to him, then after got hired to make something more serious at one stage I think. He learnt about making a sim while making NetKar (the game before AC), he talked about how he learnt about physics while playing with specific engineering software and just messing about. He certainly wasn't making pro sims.

Recently he was talking about the differences between PC sims and pro sims and he was saying that a guy who codes industry sims saw what AC was doing and said they don't bother with so much simulation detail, like detailed typre temperatures and such. According to Kunos's lead dev, PC gamers would be quite disappointed with real sims. So these claims you hear in the press are a bit weak when Kunos themselves are saying comercial sims aren't up to par.

"KUNOS Simulazioni

Kunos Simulazioni is a software house specialized in developing driving simulations mainly for the Windows platform. The company started in 2005 as a one man show, and now involving various professional figures, capable of producing the required technology that satisfies different requirements: from professional training software for drivers and racing teams, to promotional channel for companies, to advanced videogame dedicated to sim.racers looking for a driving model with maximum realism."

Like i first said to you, they began with software for professional training, for drivers and racing teams.
Then they maked the assetto corsa game.
It's not an "usual" game studio.

We have a Porsche owner here who owns a classic Porsche and he feels that the YB handles quite similar to his car when you run it without boost. (@panjandrum )

How about not quoting someone who has been banned. They don't have the right to reply. Hardly seems fair.

That's his problem. If nasanu wanted to respond to why the excerpt on the company's page doesn't refute his claims about the company's history, he shouldn't have gotten himself banned. That doesn't mean that the claims he was making in the thread are suddenly off limits, especially not to the people who he was making them towards.

For those interested, I have inquired about post-release availability of pre-order cars. I wasnt given a straight answer, but here is what they said. I sent an email to Kunos Simulazioni but received a reply from 505 customer support. 505 mentioned they could not confirm or deny what the availability would be after release.

I can't remember where but I recently saw a question asking Kunos how pre-orders bundled with the Performance Pack were supposed to get the Prestige Pack. The answer by the AC social media profile was that more details will come. It's vague but staying tuned will do for now.
