That's all well and good but the PS4 won't suddenly make the replays or the fog or the car models look better, ok the xbox may have more screen tear than PS4 but its still there in PS4, anyway where does he say its the xbox one version? Sorry I just watched the whole of that review and man it looks dire, not just graphically but the whole experience.
People can play the "ps4 is better" card all they like, but AC is rife with screen tearing full stop. All you need is eyes and open mind to see it.
When he selected a DLC car it showed the windows store logo. I read a couple of comments already of people that installed the day one patch, and they are saying it's already a major improvement all round. Like this for example:
Yesterday there was the update 1.01....the game made a big jump....graphics, gameplay, stability...everything a lot better than before.....still not easy, but that's ok...the AI seems to be very hard....it's nothing special if an AI-Driver tries to overtake you and you drive wheel by wheel for 3-4 corners long....great driving :)

It seems like the console builds are very far back compared to PC, i remember seeing so many of these issues or bugs taken out, most blatant being the AI behaviour still using the previous style two lanes system. Few people called it that it would be a rocky start but thats to be expected i guess considering the number of devs they have being so low. The upside is that a lot of the problems are fixed on another platform, its just a matter of integrating it but may not be easy considering they are on that limit of resource allocation. Cant say ive had the performance problems that ACG has had and servers seem to be working fine. As predicted people are bloody insane online though considering the number of online people i think its restricted for whatever reason, i know of at least 100 people that have the game and im sure more than 5 of them would want to try online. That screening process that the two console manufactures use is ridiculous compared to Steam where you dont pay and get instant uploads. Sony and MS seriously need to make it easier for updates to come out if they want more indies on their systems

They are releasing a game to 2 next gen consoles one being PS4 which has sold massive amount of units, you as a business have to upscale to deal with that, its just not ok to go "we are a small team". SMS got so much grief and I myself was so angry about certain things in a gaming context, but really I think we ain't seen nothing yet. Billy Strange just showed a race where last lap 2 AI pitted then it showed he came 1st when it should of been 4th...and he said "oh, there's that bug again"...he sounded jaded. Can't wait for the inside sim review.
And what about the medals for 1st 2nd 3rd.. ohhhh medals, shiny medals, PCars changed the game and AC has taken it back to 3 laps must get 3rd thats Forza gets so much hate for.

I am using the g29 with my ps4, I cant find any dead zone, steering wheel sensitivity or not really wheel settings at all except for force feed back. I went online to drift and honestly default settings on the wheel sucks. I get huge oversteer issues or sometimes the drift just drifts off into a wall with no control at all, it is really frustrating to drive and doesn't feel right. Playing with the car setup is a pain as nothing feels it improves it, just makes the handling more complicated.

If you go change settings in the options there is no return to default, I cant find where to create an online lobby also. This game definately feels half done, can't believe car games come out without wheel specific settings these days. It feels like nearly every ps3 driving game has been better than ps4 ones.

If any of you console players are expecting a granturismo experience you won't be getting one on this game. This needs lots of work, shouldn't of been released in my opinion.

Reminds me of when drive club came up, now we got to wait 2 years before the game comes good.

Scroll to near the top of this page and watch the video that Fortinbras has posted of someone doing a review. Sums it up nicely :)

Haha, I was referring to a tl;dw I guess, but yeah, totally fair.
I'll watch the video :)

I got ltd ed PCars 2 weeks after release for £25, I pre-ordered AC because it was budget price anyway at £30 but I was fully aware that in 2 weeks from now it will be available for £15 if not less. Only thing that will keep prices 'high' 2nd hand is if it doesn't sell many at release. For me this generation, whatever people say, we need the eye candy, call me a noob as much as you like, but i want a game to impress me visually, PCars still impresses me and Forza is just beautiful. AC so far looks worse than Shift 2 last gen and about as good as Race Pro last gen.
I'm looking forward to playing it tomorrow and will report back here.
I have a wheel so that maybe this games saving grace, i'll get £30 worth of play out of it but i'll be sticking with PCars and DiRT as main players i'm imagining.

To add some others guys on a car forum i go on have the PS4 version and they are being a lot more scathing about it graphically than on here, they are car guys first (racers) and gamers 2nd though, so if Kunos have chased the console golden goose and messed up they only have themselves to blame, i can see the PC lot already on youtube blaming PS4 and Xbox, but Kunos made the game, not Sony or Microsoft......they could of not released it....
For all of SMS's faults they over reached told a few porkies and used an army to defend the game, BUT, they truly meant for it to be great, this AC seems like a console cash grab, IMO...
100% agree about the graphics, to me a game has to be graphically pleasing and it certainly helps with the immersion. I was admiring a PCars replay of a race of mine the other day and still am awestruck by how good it looks, and was just smiling as I watched the BMW I was driving make its way around Nurburgring GP. I was just blown away by how good the car looked (and everything else)!

But weirdly that digiprost vid looks good  i'll be confused till i get my own copy tomorrow...

I'm PCars obsessed, which is great as I have been very vocal on its faults etc so in no way am i just a blinkered fan. Taking cars out on silverstone classic is my main thing at the moment, that and the FA championship. And DiRT is getting some game time also.

Yes the beauty of gaming for me is that once a new driving game comes out no one comes into my house and makes me chose between them. I can have PCars AND still play AC!! Its amazing....I do feel for those who don't have that choice though....;)

Proof again to never ever preorder, this game is rough as hell. I knew there would be problems with it, could see this coming a mile off.
I'll be giving AC a big miss & stick with PCars, which has it's own problems but I can live them because the grin factor is so high. After numerous patches PCars is in a much better state then on release, perhaps AC might get there too.
It doesn't give me any delight to be writing this, I really wanted AC to shine and wanted to add it to my collection. I hope that those of you who have bought it enjoy the game for the areas it excels, I just can't overlook the issues.

The following days will be interesting in terms of seeing which general issues the game may have. I guess the wait for version 1.02 will intensify over the weekend, but hopefully the reception will be mostly positive. The developer's ability to respond and rectify will be decisive for my decision to invest in the console version.

There's still no word on the release of DLC currently available for prestige owners and Steam players. That's a significant amount of content for a game not offering much variety to begin with, and "no details to share" is all we know at the moment. I have no problems paying extra for content if it will increase my appreciation for the base game considerably. Eventually, the combined uncertainties surrounding DLC release dates and the quality of the day one experience simply make it sensible to just wait and see how things go.

He's playing it on the Xbone (worst performance wise), and without the day one patch neither so keep that in mind.
Hard for me to believe what he says about the AI, as it's very careful and mindful of you on the PC.
He said he had installed the DOP and it made no difference whatsoever. This statement has me puzzled.

Yep, that video did look good. Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading what you think of Assetto Corsa so will check in for your "review". I know you will give an honest opinion of it.

Locking away those cars in the prestige edition was a terrible move.

Prestige Pack is listed on Xbox Store it says "coming soon" and Preformance Pack is free on PlayStation Store so my guess is that people who preordered game from PlayStation Store or Xbox Store will get Prestige Pack because Preformance Pack is free...

it is a nice deal, for sure. however, if you look at the massive list of upcoming cars, there is at least 30 to 40 that arent a part of those included dlc packs.

On PC the season pass is only for the Porsches, console players are getting the Japanese and Red Packs thrown in for free. It's not a season pass for all DLC, after all the Porsches are released I'd expect it to go back to one DLC pack at a time.

I really expected it to be included. Surely after that extra month they took because of the better release window.

Those two packs were originally planned to be the first two DLC packs after the originally intended May launch, the revenue from those packs was figured into their plan. Don't see why they should just give up all that income. They were generous enough to toss them in with the Porsche DLC Season Pass though so at least they threw some kind of bone.

It's interesting, there are a lot of people who play Automobilista which is a game built on the original rFactor engine and looks arguably dated in the graphics department. Most of those players will tell you that graphics quality is far down the list of important things because physics, features, and FFB are far more important. And for the most part they're right, AMS is a solid game that gets a lot of things right and it doesn't take you long to get over the "cartoon" graphics. PCars is kind of the opposite of that, graphics look great but most other things are acceptable at best. Each to their own.

That review says it is a punishingly realistic sim but goes on to say it never rewards you for getting it right.

Such sims are an acquired taste and the hardcore fan finds reward in the accomplishment of driving quickly. It seems the reviewer fails to appreciate what a sim is and the reason we play them. Such experiences will never really give instant gratification. That comes through the honing of our skills to both drive and setup the cars.

The day 1 patch was available two days ago on Xbox. It didn't change anything performance wise. Look at my videos. Thereare moments when the game runs okay. Not good or great. Just okay.

Overall the performance is terrible and the problems directly affect gameplay.

I can also confirm that the AI isn't great. It's comparable to Dirt Rally. AI cars are a lot heavier than the players' car and they push you away if you are in their way.

I play a ton of racing games and I'm sorry but I don't think Assetto Corsa is the holy grail of racing sims. At least not on Xbox One.

These websites review games, not tailored sim experiences. Those who know what they want from Assetto will probably get it so I don't see why such a big deal would be made if it scores low.

Assetto seemingly has very little 'game' to it, if any. If you're buying it to drive, enjoy the drive but don't expect it to get amazing reviews when it lacks in so many areas that make a game rewarding.

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to put a bit of game design into your sim.

Ah well, hold on to the game and you might change your mind when everything is sorted out. Nothing that can't be updated and Kunos is good at enhancing what they have.
