Im fancy trying this out after being burnt by the last (pad implementation) version ive been reticent so far. With the new sandbox mode is it possible to just jump in and race any vehicle at any track without having to faff. Im a bit concerned about this one being too sim (which is fine for physics), however Ive no interest in trying to find a set up for a car or even tyre warm up laps is red line as I want to just jump in race. With GT7 withering on the vine this could plug a gap until there is more project cars or WRC (Dirt3.0).

The new sandbox mode us just a custom championship mode. You can choose which cars and tracks are part of the championship.

You can do quick races and choose the standard setups but the tyre temps will always have to be set appropriately I’m afraid.

The default aggressive setups are very well done in general, so don't tune if you don't want to. I tend to not bother doing anything much other than taking out fuel. Even running the tyres at default settings is fine, so don't worry.

Thanks, that clarifies things I bet its great handling game because of the tyre model, but im not faffing every time I want to drive, tha'ts why GT7 is gathering dust. I used to think great graphics, sound and game physics was the optimum, but ive found im happiest playing sub par driving games that have an ergonomic low click through interface. Project cars / Grid Legends /Dirt 2.0 can get me driving in four button presses on a random car / track /weather in a few seconds that to me has become paramount.

Dammit now i'm tempted again lol

GT7 is that for me. The sport mode is plug and play.

ACC is basically an offline game for me at this point. I wouldn’t recommend not changing tyre pressure. Having the wrong tyre pressure makes the handling much less enjoyable. I’d also advise using the safe setups instead of the aggressive. They may not be as fast but they much better when you’re starting off.

You should focus on one car and track each time. Set the tyre temps for the 30air/37 track temps, optimum grip and just repeat until you’re ready to move for a different track. I’ve done quite a few races at spa this week.

Its dirt cheap, so gonna give it a try. I think I will buy a disc version as insurance so that I can trade it for another game if necessary, thanks for the advice.

That's all I do too. But I think I'm running too much fuel at around 62L. I need to move it to half a tank because I don't know if the AI is burning fuel and has a weight advantage late in the race. I've never understood if the AI races with the same rules as we do.

I've always been able to race at any track in any car. That's how I do it. Just single 30 minute races

Im not into close make one tiny mistake and its over racing (I find it really stressful) does ACC have a difficulty options for the AI? I drive for relaxation so would this title be a bad choice for me? I completely understand competitive racing is the grail for many, and its neat if this title does it, because its absent in most driving games played offline.

It does. You can set the AI pace and aggression individually from 0 to 100 (maybe not zero but you get the point). Just be sure to turn damage off 😂

Now that I think about it, you can also turn fuel and tyre wear off. I wonder if there’s a way to circumvent tyre pressure 🤔

Im a weird one lol, I drive with automatic gears too! blasphemy! Driving video games let me get into a flow state that gives me respite from ASD. I like that I can dial things in as I get better at them, thanks for sharing your experience. When your default head state is stress you really don't need to pour fuel on that fire.

I definitely get it. There was a time in my life I couldn’t even enjoy the simplest games due to not having the mental energy.

Play as you like and if you want you can then start integrating more complexity. If you’re on controller keep the driving assist on on the controller settings. You can disable the steering assist in the general settings but leave the one on the controller settings on. And be sure to search for settings for controller. The default is not very good.

If you turn off tire and fuel wear doesn't it automatically set tire pressures to a default? I've got tire wear and fuel turned off and my tires stay green the entire race. Now if I do a practice session they will start out blue then turn to green. Or are you talking about tire pressure as part of car setup? Optimal pressure I guess you would call it.

What’s everyone set their AI difficulty to? I was messing around at

90 - skill
95 - aggressive

The Ai walks by me on every straight, and dive bomb the crap out of me at every corner. Tried 85-80 but that was too easy.

Regardless, it’s fun to race against semi-competent AI.

That’s the thing, I have tyre wear on so I don’t know. However, the tyres color reflect temperature and not pressure, to my knowledge. But obviously they’re related. I’ll test it next time I play.

Did the update not drop yet today? I didn't see anything in my uploads/downloads notifications on my PS5 and still on 1.7xxxx

Very unusual time for an update. Are we sure it’s still on for today?

EDIT: scratch that.

How much I like the physics in ACC , I simply can't get on with GT3 machinery. I find them utterly bland and boring. Everytime I start up ACC , I just love the driving but there is no car that can hold my interest. A shame really since it does so much right....hell...my problem I guess 🥴😂
