Any thoughts on the update? Unfortunately I'm at work and can't check it out yet
Me too. I'm hoping that tonight when I get home from work (A) I have sound on my Xbox Series X. Or (B) if there is no sound that the USB cable I ordered from Amazon has arrived so I can hook up a headset.

My first impession is graphics much smoother, cars are like on rails, can brake later then usual, more forgiving.

On the downside they cut a lot of teletry data from SF1000 now its just speed and revs. Still no bt led support.

Overall it gives arcady feeling now!

Cars feel more weighty in a good way. The grip just feels spot on , can push way more without too much penalty as it feels controllable, track details seem increased, ps5 frame rate is solid , ai seems to have become a little more realistic also, early days but this seems a good update so far.
Perfect description.

Agreed, also the lighting and shaders have been updated and look a lot more realistic. After an racing for an hour or so this looks like an excellent update.

Does seem smoother but it's all for nothing for me, as they removed my button configuration and made it impossible to change it back. If I try, shifting up or down also looks left and right and there's no option to change that. Brilliant stuff.

Well they've nailed the Dualsense controller implementation.
Haptic triggers are always nice, and here the left trigger feels great under braking, but the real star is the vibration. So much information from the road and the tyres, rumbles go across the pad with weight shifts, rumble strips vibrate the correct side of the pad according to which tyres ran over them... it really feels great.

Not sure I'm a fan of the lights on the pad changing colour whenever ABS or TC is triggered, didn't see a setting for this, but overall very good.

I've been a lot of Grid Legends with the pad of late and ACC blows it away. That game, while good fun, feels dead.

And is it just me, or have they weakened the AA effect as there seems to be more jaggies now...

Also motion blur is off by default, imo it looks way better enabled.

Looks to me like the LOD on the rear of cars is much improved. Less pop-up.

So far, so good 👍

Good spot on lod details bang on, also the dirt on the windscreen whilst trivial gives a nice sense of realism , the other cars now show nice reflective details giving them a more realistic look, down side is it's pushing the ps5 hard as i have never heard my fans kick into high gear before, downloading the series X version now to compare.

Yeah, the same with the button configuration for me, no way to change.

Is that the same for wheel users? I know on the previous version it wasn't possible to bind some parts of my fanatec f1 rim although I could on the PS4 version...

Anyone tried online? I’ve read people saying it crashes or that races don’t start.

Some odd bugs being reported too, like the binding of look left/right being set without an option to change it, causing overlap with other bindings.

People are also saying you need to press options/start to access your setups without any clue in the menu.

If true, it seems that the non-tested updates are still a thing which is sad, since these things rarely get patched when it comes to ACC on consoles.

I haven't noticed any strange UI issues thus far. My settings were mostly still as before (the motion blur was not) so is worth checking everything before you start.

It's definitely a bit of a jag-fest now; the whole first sector of Spa has worse shimmering than any other PS5 game I've seen. That's not good. Flip side is it looks mighty crisp, but I'd prefer smooth edges personally. Even some dashboard textures flicker now.

Rolling starts are as bad as ever, but in championship mode you can choose to start them at the last corner or full lap at least. Can't see this option in quick race mode.

Handles well on the pad (although flappy arms in car view looks stupid still). I guess the big test is when I get my wheel out.

Oh and the skybox seems improved. The 40% clouds over Laguna Seca looked very nice indeed

I've just had one of the best racing experiences on a console , this update is superb. Still some graphic oddities in the replays but overall a great update graphics look much better imo. Feel on my T300 is great. Only done a couple of 30 mins quick races but looking forward to experimenting more. Was racing the Ferrari at oulton park, opponent skill 90, aggressiveness 80 and noticed ai spinning off which was good to see. Still have cars crashing into barriers on formation lap which is disappointing but I'm sure will get patched. Just need udp and button box support now and thats me sorted for the next few months. You can really have some intense battles with the ai.

That sounds concerning..

That is the first impression I got when tried the new update. It genuinely felt like the car was glued to the track, I even tried to push harder into the corners and it did not spin out. Some corners could be approached carrying more speed. But I wouldn’t say its a bad thing, as it adds more intensity and speed to gameplay, but takes away from realism (never drove a race-car on racing tires though, so its purely subjective based on imagination and experience driving 400hp MB and 200hp TSport). As for the braking, the car stops quicker now resulting in braking later and approaching corner at faster speed.

Is the game worse now, sure not, its more fun less stress obviously. But lack of telemetry, limitation of telemetry on SF1000 (was full pre-update), buggy driver customization (drops to 10fps at best), button config reset, no noticeable change in FFB (TGT2) are disappointing. Could be that my expectations were too high, but the game is still the best racer on consoles and I love it to bits.

LOL, tell me about that. They can't do anything right...

How they can make cars go around the track but can’t make them do a formation curve without crashing is beyond me.

Just tried the series X against the ps5 version and can say that they now both have parity (with the limited testing that I've done) and the series X version now is an equal match to the PlayStation 5 which regardless of the protestations previously it did not ,so it seems they've done a good job to this point. for the record this is in single player mode and I have not tried any online so that that isn't unknown for me at the moment.

UI oddities have been found now .. controller presets disappearing from my list; certain random bindings will simply vanish; I'm convinced nothing actual works in the Video options apart from motion blur. Nothing else seems to have any effect at all (sharpness, colour tone etc all make no difference).

Still a fine game, but if this stuff works fine on PC is it yet again annoying to not have parity on consoles.

The small lurches in the frame rate are also still in.

But the open season mode is a great addition to championship mode and I'll be using it a lot.

EDIT:
Just unpaused the game and now my shift down button makes me look left... Yet there is no longer a binding for look left/right. It's just not in the list. Same goes for look back (defualt is circle button and no option to rebind). What the hell.. we had bindings for those before.

So now I can't change down but get a lovely view out the window instead 😅

Well I suppose it had to happen , no way it was getting a clean bill of health after previous issues,

Did the update not drop yet today? I didn't see anything in my uploads/downloads notifications on my PS5 and still on 1.7xxxx

Jerome
It didn't auto update for me but as soon as I entered the game the update notice popped.

Does anyone have any advanced controller settings they’d be willing to share? Mine got wiped out and I can’t remember them and not having luck dialing these in.

Having to use triangle and X button for gear shifting as to not look left and right too.
