UI oddities have been found now .. controller presets disappearing from my list; certain random bindings will simply vanish; I'm convinced nothing actual works in the Video options apart from motion blur. Nothing else seems to have any effect at all (sharpness, colour tone etc all make no difference).

Still a fine game, but if this stuff works fine on PC is it yet again annoying to not have parity on consoles.

The small lurches in the frame rate are also still in.

But the open season mode is a great addition to championship mode and I'll be using it a lot.

EDIT:
Just unpaused the game and now my shift down button makes me look left... Yet there is no longer a binding for look left/right. It's just not in the list. Same goes for look back (defualt is circle button and no option to rebind). What the hell.. we had bindings for those before.

So now I can't change down but get a lovely view out the window instead 😅
This is exactly the same for me! Just reinstalled it now to see if it helps!

Does seem smoother but it's all for nothing for me, as they removed my button configuration and made it impossible to change it back. If I try, shifting up or down also looks left and right and there's no option to change that. Brilliant stuff.

It’s completely wrecked button assignments on Xbox series x. Can’t do anything to sort it.
Just played on series x with fanatec cs l elite wheel,my button presets were gone but i was able to rebind no problem, but turning on wipers you look right, lights you look left so yeah Will need sorting, apart from that big improvements all around for lighting, road feel,FFB greatly improved ,loving it so far ,looking forward to new dlc packs

You are right, the feel has definitely improved and from the limited running I’ve had looks good! Sure a patch for the controller issue will come

My number 1 problem with this game ever since I bought it on release for the ps4 is that the controller bindings get reset every update and also no matter what I do I can never work the mfd easily without it glitching or doing something else at the same time when I just want to scroll down, pretty frustrating when trying to coordinate a drive change at full speed.

I just about got a controller configuration which worked OK before this patch on my t150 and now once again each button seems to activate 3 things at once and I cant for the life of me get it back to how it was, maybe I am just dumb but it should not be this hard, makes me turn the game off on countless occasions, cant even remember the last time I completed a race longer than 20 minutes.

Are there just not that many of us who play this game on console? This is a major update that we have been waiting for for months and outside of a few of us on this particular thread, not even GT planet saw fit to write an article about it, the way they do every update of GT7.

I guess the difference is, millions of people play GT7

Can't wait to try the update

Famine, yes read that. Well written. Thank you. I may not have come across the way I meant. Apologies

What I meant was a new article on the home page to coincide with the actual drop of the update. I always read the GT7 update articles you guys put before I update up,

No, there are not many console players of this game.

As for GTP, give them time. This site does not push out quick, poorly-written click bait just to be "first". It takes time to write articles, even one as simple as going over a game update.

Can't load or save set ups now.

What the **** is the go with not being able to set our own buttons for looking round? Could do that in 1.17

I couldn't even add tracks to a custom championship.

505 seriously are like a drunk trying to get home, two steps forward, one step back.

I love ACC but seriously Kunos, if they are to have these on consoles, need to do it in house.

Well, I was at work when the update dropped, and I'm still there...

Press options/start while editing setups to go to the menu to load and save setups.

Did a few laps on the controller. If the game plays like this on wheel, meaning the same grip, I’m gonna be a happy man. Plays great. The tyre pressures seem to be all over the place. At spa, in the same lap, the tyre pressure on the right tyre can vary almost 1.0 psi (10 clicks). The car still gripps fine even on 26.5 or 28.5 pressure.

I saw the occasional lag at race starts and coming out of the pit lane, and the binding issue is beyond hilarious. Also, when I tried to do the special event, which is on a track and car I don’t own, the event starts and then backs out when the car is on track, whereas before I couldn’t even start the event.

Overall, on track seems to be a good update. Everything else is just as it has always been since the beginning, and that’s not good (even if it’s not surprising).

Ah, I see. Timing, sadly - GT7 update and FH5 season change are by far the biggest traffic pieces (and FH5 season change really does take it out of me!), so get priority. I see the remaining post-1.8 DLCs for consoles have been announced though, so it's on my to-do-list if nothing urgent pops up.

For the video settings, they do work but not in real time on that screen. You have to make the changes and then go back into a session. Try a single player session, see what it looks like. Exit and goto video. Make an obviously wild change to start with, such as contrast or gain saturation. Press A to exit and relaunch the session to see the difference. Then go back to the default and make small changes until you're happy with it. Remember what you had before though as there's no return to default button

Had a chance to do 2 races tonight, one GT3 race at Nurburgring in the Porsche 911 and a GT4 race at Oulton Park in the Mercedes AMG.

The first thing I noticed straight away is how much better it looks now. The colors seem to have more pop to them. I also love the new dirt effect on the windshield. I also noticed that the +/- indicator in the upper left is now a much bigger number graphic which my old eyes greatly appreciate.

The second thing I noticed was as my race was starting and it was time for the rolling start, I shifted into 1st and hit the throttle pedal and nothing happened. Quit to the main menu and checked settings and it said I was using a controller instead of a wheel. I remembered others had said all of the settings had been changed so I went in and changed it to a wheel. Went back and ran the race.

I didn't really get the impression that the car was now "on a rail" as had been said before. But something didn't feel right. FFB seemed numb and on the light side. I couldn't feel curbs. I can hear I'm running over them but nothing is coming back through the wheel. Road undulations and bumps are felt but not curbs. After that race was over I went back in and looked at settings again and saw both gain and road effects were set at 50%. I couldn't remember what they were before the update but I raised gain to 100% and road effects to 75%. Took the Ferrari to Monza for a few practice laps. The stiffness of the FFB was better but still very little curb feel.

Raised road effects to 90% and ran the GT4 race but there's still very little curb feel.

I've got to mess around some more with it but as of right now, it's not the earth shattering update I was hearing about.

What wheel base are you running? I’m curious to how it’s going to feel. Can’t wait to get home from work tomorrow and play 2 different updates!

Nvm. It’s in your sig. I wasn’t running road effects before. Just Fanatec’s base settings IG and some minor tweaks on the base, namely going harder on the FOR and FEI settings.

Haven’t used the wheel yet but I did notice that the car doesn’t jump as much when going on curbs. Even those with the sausages.

I’m using a Fanatec csl elite wheel on series x,I did alot of practice at oulton park last night think i was in a Porsche and the curbs were rattling my wheel and road feel was epic, before update there was next to no FFB so I’m very happy with it so far, obviously I’ve a lot more testing to do,I’ve turned gain to 90,road effects to 50 and my base is running at 140 out of 200

Booted up(PS5/DS).

Same intro.

UI is different.
Flicked to Open Series :) That M2 is cool. Locked though(until November?).

So lovely to see updated liveries. Selected the A110 ESports #17.

Set up a 5 minute Quick Race at Nurb GP. 30 car grid. Even GT3 & GT4 field.

Assign my buttons, but no look right/left option.

Start the race and when I shift, I’m looking left or right when I shift up or down. Uh oh…

Jumped back out and reassigned shift up to X and shift down to triangle. Love that look left/right are default on the buttons, but would be nice to have an option to reassign. Anyway, visual camber on the A110 is rectified. Happy about that.
Lots of coloured smoke around the track. Guess they want to improve the ambience.

From the official ACC forum regarding the lack of FFB:
Reset all the settings to default, then the FFB worked great.

You mean reset and then tweak them again, or just use default?
”Force feedback was not working properly, till I reset all the settings to default...then, with the default settings it finally works properly.”

Quote from the forum, have not tried the game myself yet.
So don’t know, just thought it perhaps could be worth trying.

Okay, other than having to reset my buttons before each race, post race default reply freezes. When I select the “Replay” option(which, DAMN the replays look good!), unfortunately, it works as normal. Playing only the latter half of the race.

The cars get dirty and the animation look real good(Oulton Park looks real nice). Cars appear darker than pre-patch. I adjusted the exposure from .40 to .60. Haven’t noticed a difference.

Edit: Another thing. I feel like the cars appear faster. Feels more real than before. The cars seemed slow. Now, there’s more sense of speed. I’m having to up my reaction time. That’s what I’m sensing.

There are a few bugs but not game breaking and I'm sure will be patched at some point. The racing and force feedback are epic. If you get the force feedback as you like and the FOV in the cockpit (mine is 41) the sense of speed and realism is superb. As others have said the dirt build-up on the screen as the sun shines is brilliantly done. Racing with a smile on my face. Oh and the sound is fantastic.

I've seen the same dirt splodge on the windscreen during every race. Maybe my slight OCD is letting it bug me, but it kinda does. A more dynamic approach would be better. Will try turning it down in the visual settings, if they work.
