Played some more this afternoon and I'm really not liking this update at all so far.

I was going to do some practice with the different road effects settings so I went into the settings screen and again it showed controller instead of wheel. So apparently it's defaulting back to a controller each time you start the game. Don't know why they would do that. Also I can't remember if this game recognized your specific wheel or not.

Tested at Imola with road effects at 100% and 0% and there is absolutely no difference whatsoever between the extremes. If that's the case then why is it even a setting?

I feel the slightly higher curbs on the outer edges of the primary curbs like on the right side of this picture

But there is no feel over the small yellow sausage curbs like these

I ran a race at Spa and there's just no feel anymore in the FFB. Yes there is tightness in the wheel left to right but I can't feel what the tires are doing. I don't know where the edge is. Going through Eau Rouge is just strictly a guess. I don't know if I'm over the limit or not. Before you would get the feeling that you're leaning on the tires and there's grip or there isn't but that's completely gone now. I should feel some scrubbing resistance like there was before, not anymore.

Other things I've noticed is that your player name is no longer listed as a driver at the end of the race nor is whatever co-driver the team has. There is just one driver shown per team. At least in the races I've ran. Also there no longer is a post race finishing procedure. Before all cars had to finish before the podium was shown. That showed all of the time gaps on the boards at the end of the race. Now hitting A at the end of the race takes you straight to the podium and there are no accurate time gaps shown on the post race timing boards. So I have no idea how much I've won or lost by.

Plus the steering wheel flicker is still not fixed on the Bentley.

Thought I’d reinstall today after seeing all the chat about improvements . I’m playing on Series X, at first I lost all my bindings but upon loading up a saved key configuration all I had to do was rebind the change view (not look left and right) I’m shifting up with X and down with A and don’t have any issues with it glancing left and right respectively. Yes I have to load my key config every time I launch the game but thats No issue. Perhaps see if you can load a key config file pre patch and see what that does for you.

Bit of a strange one though, ran a 15 minute race and when finished I had a system error stating “out of video card memory” and got kicked to dashboard.

Yep. Had the exact same thing happen to me, though it was light rain at Nurburgring. Same set up, one thing I thought but didn't try was possibly wet tyres don't work with light rain in this update? Who knows but it's another big that needs sorting.

What does it say the track conditions are? Do u have tyre temps and pressures in the right window? You can run slicks on a damp or greasy track

I get that it sucks if you can't upgrade your hardware for whatever reason, but as technology advances older versions get left behind. I don't know that I would classify it as abuse either considering this generational leap has been far more player-friendly than any other one that I can think of.

There's probably some dam good reasons why the old consoles aren't getting updated. They could barely handle the game as it was nevermind increasing physics calculations and increasing graphical capability etc.

I finally got a chance to play the other day. It was a quick race at Brands Hatch. I ended in like 9th place after I blew the left front tire. It felt good playing on my Dual sense

Having a lot of fun using the controller atm. Still not got round to plugging the wheel in... After rebinding the buttons before each play session 🙄 when you get out on track it's as good as ever. Looks really nice too, although wish we could disable the screen dirt (also noticed enabling motion blur actually blurs the screen dirt as well, which looks odd, and makes the dirt even more smeary, so had to turn that off).

Wondering how many of the new bugs will turn into 'features' and never be fixed though...

I posted in the Fanatec DD thread in regards to the settings for ACC. I ended up going with the recommended settings
for the PC version that was updated for 1.8.

Yes, on the wheel base and IG settings. And yes I’m also on PS5 too

I figured since the refresh rates are universal between PC, Xbox and PS5, the settings should work. They were better than anything else I was using pre-1.8.

To be clear, you're using the Fanatec-posted setting at the beginning of that thread, or a modification of those baseline settings that you fine-tuned on your own?
Also, on a related note that perhaps you can comment on: I'd been leaving the wheel rotation set at 1080, but I just the other day stumbled on a post somewhere that listed the "correct" individual car settings for DOR (for the PC version). Tried them on the GT3 R and 488. Not sure it really was much or any different. Both cars certainly still steered properly. Is there actually any reason to bother doing this, or is it the case that by leaving everything at 1080, the game just applies the "correct" settings for each car when you go and drive it? Won't waste the time changing that DOR setting when playing if it makes no difference if the reality is that it is actually automated behind the scenes by the game.

Easy way to see if the steer lock is correct is to check if it matches the wheel in the setup screen.
If it matches then the game automatically sets the correct DOR for each car.

My screen is a 75”, distance 3-3.2 meters.

Ya, thanks fellas. My Fanatec GT DD has always matched the wheel in the in-game setup menu when set to 1080.
I do a lot of real-life driving and here and there some sim stuff, but I haven't spent a lot of time on ACC even though I got it back in Feb with the PS5 version. I don't have a lot of experience with it but have read a fair amount ... just wanted to be sure I wasn't incorrect about the DOR as of today. Much appreciate your confirmation.
